  1. A few yrs ago we cancelled a cruise b/c a duo used the roll call to to promote making an unsanctioned movie with roll call members participation, and they were holding some type of pvt holiday fundraiser...???? They never let up. Those who complained were bullied on the roll call and we were afraid there would be an incident on board, best to avoid. Eventually Cruise Critic dropped them. Bad enough we get the art auction ads, spa fliers and of course GOOP promotions,.. Thankfully selling ones wares on board is a no no...very crass!
  2. But the 5 night is good? We booked it figuring if we got sick we could get off at the end and drive..no extended quarantine involved???
  3. If Celebrity follows suit this would be good news for us. We are booked on Beyond for a 5 night western Carib cruise in November so it fits the parameters used by Royal C. We will bring our own rapid tests and use masks when aproprate, but this change would remove the pre cruise hassle and anxiety of locating an acceptable test in West coast of Fla where we wil be staying pre cruise. We are triple vaxed but seems even that is no guarantee these days! Hope it happens!
  4. Go with Celebrity.. We did a RT from San Pedro..awhile ago..on Summit...it involved very many sea days but we did not have to fly to or from Hawaii..esp after flying out to the west coast pre cruise. We had a great on board experience with our Hawaiii ambassador. ( Paki) Had lectures and activities every day ...made leis and crafts..learned abt geography, geology, culture, etc. Took hula lessons and performed in the theater. Great meals and parties on board.... cruise days passed by so nicely esp with time zone switches. Excellent choice of excursions and we passed by volcano lava flow at night..deck party. Loved volcanoes natl park, whale watching, snorkeling, black sand beaches great flowers in Hilo, Diamond head, Pearl Harbor was a lifetime memory....a must do! One of our best vacations ever..even with short time for Hawaii itself On one excursion, we spent the day with staff from the Pride..very nice people but very unhappy crew. They do get paid more than X staff but mentioned lots of labor issues and unhappy conditions on board with the ship and the programs..convinced us we made the right choice going with X...
  5. Our cruise is in early Nov 2022..so will the current refund policies appy if we test pos before we cruise? I assume testing will still be required along with our vax certifications. Cruise is for only 5 days. We are hoping to make it thru to use up large fcc..and after that we can re assess whether cruising is our best vacation option going forward as we age .
  6. We have a 5 day cruise booked on Beyond..wonder if Luminae will have a lobster night??
  7. It has been awhile since our last cruise.. Did the svc charge go up to 20% from 15%.....? Is that for take out or just table service??? Does it apply to non alcoholic drinks ? We have IGLus and tea or regular coffee in the afternoon, We have the Classic bev plan usually but do not recall the fee..does package fee unclude the tips/ svc charge...we usually leave a few dollars as a tip??? Next cruise we have premium plan...do we still pay a fee?
  8. Khakis and a collared knit shirt is fine for men most nights,. My husb likes a Tommy Bahama, gubayera ( sp) or fancier shirt for the chic nights... no sports jacket or tie needed unless you want to... no stress needed!
  9. Can't get rid of above post..pls ignore it being here???? Agree 100 % with this comment...review only got better and better.. Totally delightful. Great writing style, .comments, photos, outfits...will miss it when cruise is over
  10. Happy the Cruise was fun..typical Celebrity disconnect..great on board but the stateside service is often sub par
  11. As someone mentioned, in US you can file a complaint with the credit card co for amount in question,, the amount you paid which was to be refunded, The card co usually will give u a provisional credit back to your card while they investigate...they will want documents etc. Doing so sometimes shakes the Celebrity tree and hastens their decision on your claim. Very poor cust svc on Celebs part all around. Curious how you could cruise with a newborn??? Celeb has min age, so I thought..guess not
  12. I am enjoying the review.. Thanks for sharing....good info and excellent photos, esp of the food and menus . Some of the food looks " fancy" for our taste. Lunch for us on E class is easy.. the Eden cafe or the extra charge cafe..best on board on EDGE. And we will try to go to BLU for breakfast if Luminae is crowded.. For dinner on our BEYIND cruise, we will be assigned to Luminae and don't see very much we might enjoy or want to try..Do they offer an everyday menu where we could order more simply..ex. shrimp cocktail, onion soup, salad, and a plain beef or fish entree? We do not eat bread or fancy desserts.( med reason) and prefer not to be tempted. If not maybe we can get into BLU or Tuscan or the Grek mdr..our favorites! Enjoy your cruise..thanks for the review
  13. Yes, but not everyone is aware.... most don't mind paying if they know what it will cost ahead of time. ... and it is more than a hole on the ground.. A few Carib ports charge for restroom at the port..but fee is usually mentioned in the Celeb Today...
  14. last series of photos was fabulous..looks like you are enjoying the trip: ship, ports and each other's company. Lots of nice fashion too! Hot but bright weather,,photos so vibrant. Cosmo restaurant looks just like the one on EDGE. It is one of the larger venues compared to Tuscan and where they offered a very nice daily lunch. Did you get to see the beautiful pottery/ lalique in the displays, ? We enjoyed this venue a few times,.had our first dinner there..a bit crowded at a long table ( all supposedly for 2) We would avoid that seating arrangement in future, We returned to Cosmo for our last dinner on EDGE at a quiet corner table..great food and service..felt so opulent, As to the " bus ticket incident", makes me angry..sounds like a tourist scam...like charging to use the bathrooms in France! Ship should warn guests in the daily bulletins about these rip offs.. so guests can be prepared with tickets and local coins. Perhaps you could post a warning about your exoerience on the port boards,?
  15. Just caught up.on this entertaining live review .( as always) Very well written; excellent photography on and off the ship. The combination of cruise, ports, food and drink review is brilliant! Thank you for sharing! We have been on Reflection and visited many of the same ports on other X ships. Nice to see them again through your lens! We have not been to Istanbul...heard it was a bit unsafe right now in certain places and for certain people..What was your experience ? Our neighbor is from there originally, and is visiting her mother( with her 2 yr old) for the summer. Her husb says all is well! Will continue to follow now that I am caught up...
  16. Dinner choices looked nice. I often get extra veggies. No bread... Tuscan was our fav on EDGE... one of the smaller dining rooms...love the black and white fellini decor and great music. We also had the Elite breakfast there.. great coffee! Thanks for bringing back good memories. Loved the photos of your long walk..I love to walk but might have melted. But carry a water flask when we go ashore..just in case.
  17. Robes are for in rm use after showering or while dressing..Some do wear themout of the rm but they stand out as a bit odd! For spa treatments..they supply a robe. Suggest op bring a pool coverup for use at pool and hot tubs. Lightweight ones pack easily and dry nice after use.
  18. We never recd nice looking slippers like that.. just thin slip.ons made of terry cloth material..thin non slip sole and quite narrow..we throw them out. Suggest OP bring along a pair of flip flops for pool, solarium and shower. They pack easily
  19. Sorry i do not know, but recall it was not a bad tender ride to shore. Are you going to a beach? Wish we had added that on.. I hope you can explore the port first..why lose half a day? Mykonos port area is such a great place to walk around in. Great shops of all kinds ( art, jewelry, clothing, crafts) , taverns, windmills etc. The color of the water is so beautful. The people we met were warm and happy! Hope you can do the excursion and enjoy port
  20. That's how we quit..years ago, Most who get Covid have a bad cough, breathing issues. Can't see that smoking would help that. . A quick puff or two in the bathroom with a fan, or on a balc might work ok...hopefully smoke would disapate into fresh air..and not affect others on their balcs,. But the gum would be better
  21. Just expect to spend 100 % of your time with him.. no pools or hot tubs or kids club. but lots of interesting things to see around the ship. Staff will be very helpful! Nice ice cream stand..,, Fancy dining, bars, dance floors, and loud shows may not be ideal in consideration of other guests. Bring lots of toys and activities with you and maybe he can enjoy the in room shower with all the sprays! Tv has kiddie stuff and movies. Nothing much for kids in most X gift shops..big lapse. Enjoy!
  22. Love all the photos..the SV was a perfect choice for 3..large outdoor balc, larger cabin area. . The inf Veranda would be much tighter all around. ,(We have stayed in both styles) You can ask steward to remove alot of the Hoppen stuff( unless u love it)..more room on the shelves! Also can put some of the many pillows away too. Love displaying a small flower arrangement on the lighted " niche" shelf. The art you have photographed has us psyched for BEYOND..We enjoyed the Art excursion on EDGE.. included lots of goodies , and had a short tour of the plantings..very well done. Keep it coming please.! The art piece over the couch is lovely.. do you have any info about it?
  23. Off topic Small world...we live on Long Island NY. Close friend has a cottage along the cliff walk in Howth..it was her mom's...Photos of the area are beautiful. Friend is Celebrating that when she returns to visit the cottage next month she will do so as an Irish citizen in tribute to her mom! Enjoying the review and comments,
  24. Thank you for the links..I will try to follow them. This fridge is so neat and clean.. Ours is more cluttered but kept clean..we only buy fresh products that are on sale..economic necessity these days!
