  1. Thank you for your review. If my cabin was not properly cleaned, I would immediately use the “let us know” feature on the Navigator app. If a supervisor brought the cabin stewards to the door, I would immediately request an in person meeting with the hotel manager to inform them that this was not an acceptable way to treat employees. You were very gracious.
  2. @Yyyy4Google “water in a box”; there is water in a can too. However, I bring a refillable water bottle and drink water from the tap…in my house & on the ship.
  3. @cmrvancouver I’d love to hear more about your experience at Morimoto.
  4. @Mimie03I love an aft. A Signature Suite is just a larger room. No other perks. For a 7 day cruise, I’d keep the aft. Also, if no one bites, you’ll get another offer. We did take an upgrade from our non-aft verandah once on a 15 day cruise. Received the 4th offer 3 days before departure for $149 pp.
  5. @TRTraveller @pirate cruiser When I am booking a cruise, I ask my PCC if CO is available. If it is, I book the least expensive verandah and then up grade to the cabin of my choice. You cannot switch category…verandah to verandah, you cannot move up to a suite. The cost of CO is usually less than the cost of the better cabin in the same category. I like the CO dining room dining n the Pinnacle ships but I feel the real CO value is the ability to upgrade your cabin.
  6. Today’s quote was written by Alanis Morissette, a Canadian singer songwriter when she was 19 years old. The song Perfect is on her extremely successful album Jagged Little Pill released in 1995. The song is from the perspective of a parent trying to live vicariously through their child, who they push hard to achieve to the point that it is having a negative impact on the child. I am an Alanis fan. I saw her in October. Here’s the entire song. Thanks to all who make the Daily a special place. Positive thoughts to those who need them.
  7. There are a lot of SS cabins on deck 8 which some people feel are noisy. The noise has never bothered me. I love deck 8 because of the proximity to the Lido. I’m hoping for an upsell offer for a SS on my upcoming cruise on the Oosterdam.

  11. Do not bring life jackets. Go to the muster station and get your key card scanned. Watch the video on your stateroom tv. Done.
  12. They sell water for excursions but I suggest you bring your own water bottle.Last cruise they only had cans which is very inconvenient once opened. Also, I drink the ship’s water; I don’t buy water.
  13. I will salute this day in history and the Cutty Sark. I love tall ships and all sailing ships. We used to cruise on the Windjammer line. This picture is of the Pride of Baltimore II and the Clipper Stad Amsterdam in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
  14. As long as you have a bar code and priority on your boarding pass you are good to arrive at whatever time is convenient for you. No need to reprint or board at 12:20.
  15. Happy Thanksgiving Eve! My mother makes the cranberry sauce to go with our turkey. She uses jello, apples and oranges along with the cranberries. We all love it. I wonder why we only have it once a year? My grandmother always told me that my freckles were “angel kisses”. I’m glad I don’t have to “go for a ride” today, to much traffic.
  16. @jakers I use FlightEase so I don’t have to pay for my flights until I pay for my cruise. Also, if I have to cancel the cruise at the last minute my insurance will cover my flights too. Why do you use FlightEase? Was there a big price difference if you had booked directly with Aeromexico?
  17. This is what I thought of when I read “Odd Sock Day.” It was actually initiated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance in the United Kingdom to stop bullying and create a safer environments for young people. The campaign uses the playful act of wearing odd socks to send a serious message about accepting and celebrating differences. Odd Socks Day is typically observed on the second Monday in November each year. In 2023, it fell on November 13th. It was a day when schools, workplaces, and individuals joined together to show that it’s okay to be different and to stand up against bullying and discrimination. Positive thought to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.

  19. Usually, showtimes are 7:30 & 9:30. YMMV
  20. @Duane S. If flying in North America, I book my own flights. Is your closest airport Chattanooga? There are flights on American for $500. Just put on multi-city when searching.
  21. Good Morning! Liberty and Bell have received a presidential pardon. They will be returned to the farm. I am familiar with Hardy but couldn’t place the context of the quote. I believe today’s quote should be attributed to Talleyrand, Napoleon’ Bonaparte’s Foreign Minister who said: "... My Lord, you can do anything you like with bayonets, except sit on them... ". This seems to indicate that the military of the French Empire could not stay idle and be said to serve Bonaparte’s goals. In other words, Napoleon had to make the decision to move forward with his campaign or die by failing to act. Another explanation of the quote could be while you can take land by military force you cannot rule by military force.
  22. Thanks for your insight @Mary229. Fortunately, I haven’t had my premium economy international flight seats change for my 2 trips in the past year. Actually, my KLM (Delta) flight was cancelled the morning I was supposed to depart for Amsterdam in October. I called FlightEase and they were able to rebook me on a Delta flight that connected through an alternative airport with similar premium economy seats. I was very happy with their service.
