  1. Wow! 28/84 in Maryland and 34/93 on the frozen tundra. Go figure. Best wishes for DH on Friday. Roy
  2. I think Cunard comes quite close to Crystal in the quality and variety of the lectures, although they tend to have a bit ore of a British flair. Crystal's biggest advantage over Cunard in that regard is the availability of the lecturers around the ship. My favorite is actually taking QM2 in one direction and another ship in the reverse, although it doesn't look like a great mach for HAL transatlantics this year. The closest to a possibility this year is QM2 to Southampton and/or Hamburg leaving New York October 13 and connecting with Oosterdam out of Amsterdam or Rotterdam. Roy
  3. Slight correction on my first post today. My visit to Walvis Bay was not on Crystal Serenity but it was the same trip. I sailed Crystal Serenity to Cape Town where I had a 3-day layover and then continued on MS Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale, saving me a lot of flying while providing a lot of pleasure. Roy
  4. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie/Tina, Ann, and Dixie for the first Fleet Report and Daily of August 2023. I'll pass on the Mahjong but celebrate the other 2 days. I've climbed a few mountains in my younger days; the most challenging are probably Katahdin in Maine and Mt. Marcy in New York. I've also climbed several times to the highest point in Maryland, but it's where the slopes of Backbone Mountain cross the state line, somewhat below the actual summit. I'll also celebrate Priestly's discovery and like the Lewis quote. .I've been to Walvis Bay just once, 2014 on the Crystal Serenity. I was due to return in 2020 on Queen Mary 2 but you can guess how that turned out. I'm not sure about the meal. My alternative is Fruit Pallet des Artiste, Iced Melon Bisque and Grilled Ginger Chicken Breast with Mango Lime Relish as served on MS Prinsendam August 1, 2011. Looks like a beautiful August 1 in Maryland. Roy
  5. Rabbit, Rabbit, White Rabbit. Best wishes @RMLincoln DH. Roy
  6. Will you be Northbound on Noordam or Southbound on Nieuw Amsterdam. I have seen the info on the new Crystal ships but doubt I'll be cruising when the first one debuts. I do have something crazy going on now. I'm booked on Queen Mary 2 New York-Halifax-New York September 29 to August 13. We are in Quebec September 5 to 7. I recently discovered Crystal Serenity is in Quebec September 4-6 and headed for New York October 13. While I am fully paid in Cunard Princess Grill (well sort of, "paid" is with credits from the cancelled 2020 World cruise). I get nothing back from only doing the first 7 days but this may be my only chance t sail Crystal again and they've given me a price I can live with. There's a hitch right now because Cunard is resisting letting me leave at the midpoint but I think my TA is finally close to getting that resolved. Bon Voyage to you and Maria. One other note. After a very long treatment process, @Scrapnana finally has finished her chemo and posted today. Roy
  7. I think that's a wrap for me. Thanks Leanne, Lou & Dave, and fellow addicts. Roy
  8. Today's sunrise is from my 2010 Blount cruise New England to Quebec. On July 31 Grande Caribe arrived in Quebec: Roy

  10. I think Koningsdam is about where the tall pole would be if we could see it. Roy
  11. It may be my imagination but it seems like the ships may be a bit earlier than usual today. Bu the way, after a long absence @Scrapnana posted today. Roy
  12. So great to hear from you. Praying for a continued recovery.. Roy
  13. Happy Anniversary!!! and welcome aboard. Roy
  14. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie/Tina, Ann, and Dixie. Well, the Pilgrims embarked so many years ago on a voyage that would not be nearly as pleasant as on a BHB. I'll pass on the avacado and while watermelon is tasty I haven't had it in years. Dangerfield had quite a taste for the ironic. Mutt's day will be wildly celebrated here. I've been to Recife just once, back in 2015, on MS Maasdam. The hamburger sounds nice, I'll bet there are great ones at Dive-In. My alternative is Summer Fruit Salad with Sambuca, Chicken and Corn Soup, and Turkey Roast with Giblet Gravy and Cranberry as served on MS Prinsendam July 31, 2011. It looks like a nice day in Maryland but I was just thinking that if I hadn't had my medical setbacks back in January I would now be on the way to Ketchikan on MS Nieuw Amsterdam. Roy
  15. I have no travel sunrise for July 30. This was taken one year ago at the basketball court of the middle school across the street from me. Roy

  17. Will we meet this year? I'm booked for November 12-24, Roy
  18. Have you gotten Keith['s email yet? If not, Keith, is it ok if I forward it to him. Roy
  19. Happy Sunday, Thank You Rich, Vanessa, Tina, Ann, and Dixie. I had only one Father-in-Law, my brother's first wife's father, and he outlived his daughter. I'll salute International Friendship Day but pass on the cheesecake. I love the Anouilh quote. I hope the House of Burgesses was more productive than our current legislature. I've been to Puerto Chiapas twice, Zaandam in 2017 and Crystal Symphony in 2018. I'll pass on the fish sandwich. My alternative is Mixed Ssasonal Greens, Top Sirloin Center Cut Steak, and Tiramisu as served on MS Prinsendam July 30, 2011. It looks like a nice day here and I'll head out for my walk soon but worship today from home. Roy
  20. Today's sunrise is from a 2005 Blount Cruise from Duluth to Chicago. It was taken about an hour before Grande Caribe reached her destination at Navy Pier. Roy

  22. Thank you Rich for the Saturday Fleet Report and Daily, and thank you Vanessa, Dixie, Ann, and Tina. Tigers are magnificent from a distance and I enjoy both chicken wings and lasagna. Mickey Mouse has had a lasting impact on our culture I've been to a number of Japanese ports but not Aomon. Elizabeth was truly a legendary Queen. The Orange Chicken Skewers sound nice. My alternative is Fruit Cup Au Naturel, Chicken Consume Millefanti, and Roast Chicken Gremolata as served on MS Prinsendam July 29, 2011. Nasty thunderstorms here last night, and the Orioles game didn't end until 12:30AM. Today will be another scorcher (but not like so much of the country and world) but the heat wave should end today. Roy
