  1. It has been merged - this is the prime thread on the topic.
  2. I know Samsung. If they are still offering S10's at a bargain, and you don't want to spend much, that one will work. Or anything newer.
  3. Sure, but the earlier posts were about purchasing the Plus/Premier if want a drinks package and not the standalone beverage offer. The cruise fare options do not suit us either, so we book Standard.
  4. Really?! Why even suggest that? (I am quite sure you are not a CA deleter).
  5. ??? Both people have to book Plus/Premier now if either one wants it. But that is fine anyway since the standalones are so expensive.
  6. Oh, but they need it in place so they can point to how much a guest saves by buying the Plus/Premier options.
  7. It can't be correct since the news report posted above featured interviews of guests departing and of guests staying. ETA: One woman interviewed was all smiles as they had the "drink package", so must be on the Plus or Premier. It was a good marketing clip for PCL.
  8. It would appear from the local ABC news video feed from above, that any opportunity to jump on board ended at 11:00am PT because that was the deadline for guests to decide to go or stay. That indicates to me finalizing the manifest process which hour mentioned is also the typical hour to commence boarding a new voyage. So, the discussion is moot now and no one has reported on CC (at least) making the attempt.
  9. This thread should be merged into the other - or deep-sixed since it doesn't serve a purpose any longer.
  10. Echoing for I think the third time to hammer it home. Do not pay for the PCL standalone beverage package - waste of money. Buy the PLUS or PREMIER.
  11. IMO, PCL has the container fill rule as some percentage of folks cannot be trusted. It is perfectly possible to fill one's own container without contacting the spout the same as using their container. So, it's an annoying rule to us who know how to properly do it. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if the folks PCL Is so concerned about don't also make some contact with PCL vessels and how clean are they after sitting out for a while?
  12. "Is there a catch by Rudi on the Crown?". No, but my bachelor friend, Raymond, said there were several good catches at Knitters & Knatters.
  13. Yup. As regards SW, we are serviced by the legacy US airlines and not the more recent significant carriers like SW and JB.
  14. Yes, you can walk-up to a DR at dinner. In fact, one of them may be designated mostly for that. As long as you don't arrive in "prime time" earlier hours like 6pm, it shouldn't be much of a wait from reports. You will always get seated faster if you accept or want a Sharing table instead of a Private table.
  15. What is the port? You may be wasting money booking with PCL and do better yourself as PCL overcharges in many cases.
  16. And, unfortunately, we don't allow US carriers to fly between Canadian airports (or we would have a lot better competition and pricing up here). We don't even get SW up here and drive to BUF if we want to fly them.
  17. Of course not, but that doesn't mean that GS may decide to book someone onto the ship at the port. It may not work, but if someone was interested yesterday and had a short drive with nothing to lose other than time and some gas, who knows? @Cruise Raider was just wondering/speculating and if it were me - and I was interested to "drop and go", I'd really consider heading over there yesterday and finding out.
  18. Only smaller ships like Coral and Island can transit the old locks. All other PCL ships use the new locks. In areas you can see part of the other locks from the one you are in. With only one transit in the old, I do forget how much you can see of the other on the Atlantic side.
  19. They may as well just do the simpler re-fare because guest can cancel and re-book.
  20. No, it isn't true as long as follow the new protocol and book by selecting something other than allowing PCL to pick cabin and by avoiding the lead-in categories.
  21. I have tried the same thing here a time or two in Canada and the French-speaking reps (two different organizations) told me they weren't allowed to speak in English.
  22. I don't think I would be expecting this one because I imagine you are still being fed and "watered" and cabin is being cleaned. I also imagine the CD team is working extra hard these days with extra activities and trying to keep spirits up.
  23. It is likely that one of the mid-ship DR's is not loaded into DMW for guests to select ahead of time and will be used for walk-ups. The other one could be full at the time you are looking for. You may have better luck on board. Inquire with DR Mgmt. Or try the other one as walk-up if it doesn't appear in DMW on board.
  24. What video? Also, there is already an extensive thread on this forum about the incident in SF harbor.
