  1. The way I read the above, is suggesting that insurance must be ordered and paid at time of booking to cover pre-existing conditions a guest has at the time of booking. I don't think this is correct. Don't some folks buy the insurance right away so in case something new happens between booking and sailing, they are covered for that "new existing" condition, which could be called "pre-existing" in the future, relative to the sail date. I.E. something new comes up between Booking Date and Sail Date that doesn't prevent guest from sailing, but if there is a medical issue related to that "new thing", then they are covered if the insurance was in place before that "new thing" appeared. Perhaps what I have written is what you intended, but it didn't read that way to me at least.
  2. Didn't the UBD go up to $110/couple recently after many years? That's not a bad increase and I think it is good value compared to $78/couple for CG.
  3. Just to clarify. Was the package literally blocked from purchase, or could you have decided to buy it just for the premium beverage price limit increase and maybe the photo package, while realizing some other Premium perks not available? Like you suggested, it is likely a short cruise phenomena where folks can max out the benefits at a relatively low cost.
  4. You pack up and depart the first ship and then head on over and check into the new ship. Sometimes you have a day or two in between.
  5. I am sure when you stack up 360 @ $150/pp up against the CT Lumiere at the new price of $140 (yes?) and the new WMD experience, it is priced in the range of the premium meal experiences. From the bit I have read, I would do 360 over a CTL if I was going to spend the money in the first place. The ship tours are also ~$150/pp, right? Another premium experience which several have posted about lately wondering if it is back.
  6. IDK if there is one specific to Emerald, but I think most ships have the same or similar TV's by now. There have been multiple threads on the connection topic in recent years. The trick is to be able to get into the TV settings and change the input selection from the ship's cable to a different HDMI port.
  7. IMO, it does belong here because this is the master thread for the Princess Medallion App... unless CC decides to start a new one. Personally, I do periodically consider if the App has changed/progressed enough to replace this sticky with a "Part 4". It still has a lot of data corruption issues, but perhaps functionally it is better? Hard for me to assess for myself since I don't have any active bookings. A few comments for you to explore: Can you get into your booking on Princess.com (Cruise Personalizer)? Either by login or by Name, BD, Booking Reference. Can you get into daughter's booking using CP or the App? Can you get in using her spouse/partner information? Contact TA on Monday and have her pull up your res and read back your BD. Have her correct if needed. Assuming you can login to Princess.com, check your personal Profile record to review BD field. It is possible the TA miss-keyed your BD into POLAR (reservation system), but I would think that should just auto-fill once your CC Member number is inserted. But perhaps the TA did it another way. ETA: I am wondering if this new-to-you TA, entered your Name in POLAR and got one or more duplicates and then clicked on one with the wrong BD for you. Just a SWAG. ETA2: Yes, it can take some time for the App to be sync'd up with POLAR records, although I have a sense that is faster these days. That said, the booking is there in the App database since you were able to access it via wife's info.
  8. Happy for you. IF I was going to book direct and not use a discount TA, I would for certain find a good CVP (a.k.a. internal TA) to handle my bookings, so I think you are on the right track there. In my experience, using booking tool on Princess.com for shopping a cruise, it is quite clear whether deposit is Non-Ref or Ref. No doubt you will be using the tool in future, even with having a CVP. Generally, if you take the pick-your-own option, those cabins sell with a Ref deposit. When taking the GTY option at the initial choice screen (before seeing deck sections), SOMETIMES you will see Ref deposit, but also Non-Ref. Just check the text in the box first.
  9. IDK why there would be any more questioning of sourcing for seafood than the meats.
  10. Yes, I had missed noting that in my ETA section. I think you responded while I was writing more. There are always outside factors that can affect the business for sure. If CCL has a strong 2023 and 2024, it will go a long way to restore some faith. What we don't see in the report of course is how the individual brands are doing that make up the whole.
  11. I have not read it yet and wouldn't be able to come up with a real financial conclusion. It does appear The Market was anticipating liking the results yesterday with stock up, but today it went down relatively steep and recovered some in late afternoon, so it tells me The Market wasn't all that impressed. Too bad. ETA: Based on the report above (surface level), one might expect CCL to be zooming higher. Perhaps it was the slightly lowered EBITDA for full year 2023 that put a damper on it. IDK what "the street" was expecting even though CCL beat June guidance. If a company doesn't beat the street expectations (sometimes called "whisper numbers", then stock doesn't rally. One comment from Weinstein is that he seems to almost gleefully opine that they are in position to drive pricing higher. Oh, and the higher fuel costs bit them, but they expect sunnier days on those costs going forward.
  12. So, there have been some different answers. The total mini-bar content is 10 alcohol and 10 non-alcohol. The general standard has been 8 mini-liquor shots plus 2 beers. In the other half, 6 sodas, 2 bottles of Perrier and 2 plastic bottles of still water. Everything in pairs. You can swap any alcohol for any other alcohol. I swap all of it for my choice of beers. You can swap any alcohol for a non-alcohol. You can swap any of the non-alcohol for any other non-alcohol. I swap all of ours for Perrier and we always get the pre-cruise water starter of 12 bottles for $7. You can swap the whole thing for a bottle of not-so-great wine and I don't see that as good value. But, it depends on personal preferences.
  13. I did say that in my second paragraph, but did not bother to go into the math as you illustrated. The math can get complicated as you inferred because the value of the package varies by guest according to their own preferences and proclivities.
  14. You may be right, avonlady. And then I wonder if someone at PCL is being a devil and used the word formality in the description thinking it might set off a huge debate among guests on social media sites wondering if they are going to divide guests according to attire. Perhaps it just has to do with how formal the dining is - from casual noshing or grab-and-go, to sit-down dining with tablecloths and suitable dishware and glassware. But they are never quite clear with their marketing lingo.
  15. It would look a somewhat more appealing to be buying bottles on board and not BYOW. Depending on which labels you prefer. A quick run at it indicates there would now be about 40 labels where total cost is cheaper on board, but still 99 labels where it is cheaper to BYOB. Not to mention one has paid considerable dollars for the Plus package and would want to be getting value from that spend. 83/99 save more than $5 as BYOB. 28/40 save more than $5 on board.
  16. IDK why you say that. All I meant was that security team had no adverse reaction and the ship's crew manning the wine table did their normal thing. Three voyages times four guests = 12 free bottles (they did not need to know that our friends were not actually taking possession of six bottles). At that time (2018), I believe I was charged for $180 in corkage fees (for the other case of 12). I did not likely pay anything in addition, so that would be lucky I suppose, but also good management.
  17. Well, this was PE and not SP. Like I said, never sailed from west coast USA and I have read over the years of other "differences" at SP in past years in this forum.
  18. I am not sure where you are getting this info. I just looked up Sun Princess voyages for Nov 24 and picked one at random. I was looking to book an Inside at Standard Fare. Deposit was labeled as Refundable whether I went GTY route or pick-my-own route. Were you looking at something from an email promotion which might be a targeted audience ad? These have Fare Codes like Uxx. Do you know which Fare Code you were seeing online? Generally - even with a sale - there are Refundable Deposits. Nov 24 is too far out to be a "Drop 'n' Go" promo as those will have Non-Ref deposits. ETA: As to not liking the website, Princess.com is setup to supposedly offer you the best deal when you are logged in. Other travel sites and agency web pages can have booking engines that show you ALL of the eligible fares and you can select the one you want. Princess can book you in any of them, but only shows you one on Princess.com. Do you use a TA? Wish I could tell you about a wonderful one from your province who is partnered in a US type agency that does discounting.
  19. This is not a change. PCL has had non-ref deposits for years. It's the guest's choice - book non-ref and you have a risk; book a ref deposit and you do not have the risk. Insurance doesn't matter prior to the Final Payment Date.
  20. If they arrived early, there wasn't likely a staffed table. Perhaps security takes action in that case. Seems a bit heavy-handed, but never been to San Pedro. Not the only "difficult" thing I have read about processing there. We have checked in primarily in Port Everglades, but also twice in Civitavecchia and once in Copenhagen. NP in Europe (seemed to care less at security). We have also been in San Antonio and B.A. (South American ports) on turnover and not observed anything special in terms of wine grabs. In Port Everglades, usually beat the wine table. I recall one time (2018) it was actually there and I had a lot of wine. Told them I would come back later as wanted to get through check-in and into priority lounge first. Went back to table later to purchase and collect stickers. Didn't mind paying the amount of corkage I did pay. They apportioned the wine across us and our friends (who had nothing), so actually got 12 freebies, IIRC, that time for a B3B. Most I ever took on a voyage - 2 cases for 60 nights, plus got some more in ports.
