That’s what I’ll be doing for our 2025 cruise-making a lot of phone calls & asking lots of questions. The yearly plan we buy from Pacific Blue Cross has coverage for certain reasons to cancel (usually medical) but not for any reason.

When I first heard HAL would not be offering the Platinum coverage to BC residents I contacted out PCC as we had purchased it for our 35 day cruise in February. He stated we are grandfathered. He also stated if we wanted to buy it for our 2025 cruise we could if paid before December 14, we declined. We would buy it on our expensive cruises mainly for the cancel for any reason.

Oh trust me, it drives me crazy when people talk on their phones in public let alone video chat etc. We’d time it so we’d be in our cabin. (Pre-arranged mostly or our daughter or son would message asking if it was a convenient time).

I just checked our invoice with HIA and it said Surf. I do know sometimes reception could be iffy so we’d pop into the Neptune lounge & it worked fine (but we didn’t video chat anywhere except on our cabin).

We did the Facebook Messenger video chat (I think that’s what it is called) on the Eurodam with the HIA regular wifi. We were mid ship when we did it in our cabin. Hope this helps. I’m sure Starlink has made a big improvement.

If basic surf was the HIA (🤷‍♀️) it worked great. Maybe because of the Starlink? Maybe location of our cabin? Not sure.

We had whatever internet came with HIA and it worked fine. Because of the time difference we could video call our grandkids with no problem. We didn’t upgrade it.

We were on the Eurodam November 8-18th and had excellent meals in all the speciality restaurants. We are usually underwhelmed by the Pinnacle Grill but this time it was fantastic. We had an excellent waiter & food was delicious. The Tamarind is always a favourite & it didn’t disappoint this time either. The Canaletto was also very good although I did learn if I order the chicken Parmesan to only ask for one. It came with 2 & was way too much for me to finish. Congratulations on reaching 4*, we love the laundry perk! Your review was great, I forgot to do one when we got back but we had a wonderful time. Have fun on the Koningsdam, we enjoy the Dutch Cafe on her!

Will be following along on here as I might end up cruising solo in 2025 as my husband seems to be tired of cruising. Have a wonderful time-I really like the Koningsdam and have been on her over 40 days & doing another 35 on her in February! Bon Voyage!

I haven’t had a Weng Weng but the first time I had a Long Island Ice Tea at BBKings and I thought it was super strong but good! Took our daughter on a partial Panama cruise & we both ordered them & she said it wasn’t strong-I’m a cheap date as I could only have one & waited until the ice melted in it. I’ve put the Weng Weng on my list to try in February!

We had a Pinnacle lunch when on the Eurodam in November and there was no mention of a $5 charge if you had more than one appetizer. Wonder why they’ve started that now. I took photos of the menu and nothing about an additional charge.

My PCC got back to me saying those from BC (including us) that had already bought the Platinum insurance would be covered. No idea why they’re excluding BC in future though.

@oakridger @crystalspin I have emailed my PCC to clarify and also make sure we are still covered for our South Pacific cruise.

We bought the Platinum for our upcoming South Pacific cruise in February so this must have changed since we made final payment. Wonder why they’re now excluding BC (we are in BC)
