  1. I find Princess more “American” than HAL. In fact, Princess is the least “international” of the three, IMHO. Princess has the most bus runs in the American market. HAL’s focus is on longer, more unique, itineraries. HAL, then Princess, have the most historical presence in Alaska, so they will always get the docks. Cunard draws the short straw (tendering); probably due to their long absence from that region.
  2. Sounds amazing. I wonder if I can get seasons tickets.
  3. I guess, in that 30 seconds, I could be checking my nails. 💅
  4. We did this, once, but at a different port. They were still there doing embarkation but there was no one there to take our picture. Lol. Hopefully someone who has done it at QC sees your post and can verify. I know I’ve seen posts saying they’ve done it there.
  5. You still get to choose your own and how you want it. It’s just that you are not the one handling the utensils.
  6. Oh my. I have never been witness to that. Well… I have…. in a way. I lied my way into a waitressing position when I was a teen because they had the hottest disco around. (I worked upstairs in the restaurant… not the disco.) Well, I certainly got a dressing down from the Greek owners, on occasion, but those gruff exteriors hid hearts of gold and I learned a lot. They used to let me sneak in the artist’s entrance so I could skip the cover charge and the ID check. (I may have been a bit underage at that time. 😇 ) Anyway… that’s all to say… don’t take the dressing down to heart. It’s not as bad as it seems. Although, I wouldn’t expect to see it in the MDR, that’s for sure. Maybe overhear it in the back room though. lol
  7. I find the Alaska and Caribbean sailings are less formal on HAL than the European and Med sailings (including the TA’s). It is always nice to see the dressy attire when on the latter, although you will see those who dress on the other sailings, as well. (You can include my family in the “dressed” list.) They do have the daily ballroom dancing (mid-afternoon) but the evenings are spent dancing to blues/soul/motown (BB King’s), the Rock Room, or the Piano Bar/Billboard Onboard. Venues vary, depending on ship, though.
  8. Those cups never work for me! I always end up with tea or coffee flowing down the sides of my mouth!!! Does this happen to anyone else or am I a mutant?
  9. It would be interesting to hear the reply. Your post made me take a look at my last PDF statement in Cruise History. There are a number of charges on there for some unknown person so I have sent onboard billing an email. I guess I will need to take a closer look at the credits for sailings for my sister and I. I can only see the room charges which were in my name using my card. (Except for that guy named Delbert lol). I’ll need to have my sister go through her statements to see if we are both getting the room credits. Sheesh. No wonder the Mariner Society sometimes gets it wrong!
  10. I am loving your pictures! Can you please explain the above?^^ I am not sure what you mean by “protection”. Protection from what? Also, that glass sculpture in front of the opera house had me curious, so I googled. It is tethered, but turns and changes based on tides and currents. Fascinating! THE POWER OF MOTHER NATURE over human endeavors is on display in Oslo Harbour just off the shore of the Oslo Opera House. This striking sculpture evokes the power of ice and water ever-present in the high north. The floating stainless steel and glass sculpture named She Lies was designed and created by Italian artist Monica Bonvicini. It is based on Caspar David Friedrich’s painting Das Eismeer (The Sea of Ice).
  11. Thank you for the historical information! History is always an interesting topic to me. I took this pic in 2022. I wonder if @carlmm happened to notice if it is still there?
  12. I’ve always found, when I think I am getting better from something, I am always wrong! 😂
  13. I’m loving this crown! It might not be what you had in mind, though. lol
  14. How are you feeling today, @D&N? I hope you are both doing well.
  15. Thank you for doing this live-from! I look forward to following along. Trieste truly is a lovely city and I would love to stay for a few days there. It was an overnight port call for us but I found that reboarding the ship was a slow process. I can’t even imagine trying to embark there! Accessible cabins are great for their space but you definitely lose out on the wardrobe / cupboard space. I don’t think I would like one as a solo but they are great when you have a travel partner. Have a wonderful time!
  16. Ugh and yuck. Sorry to hear that. I caught it right at the beginning. I honestly thought that I would die. Caught it, again, a few months later. It wasn’t as bad that time. I am thankful that they came up with an injection shortly after that. I am also thankful that I didn’t bow down to pressure but not going to get into that. Feel better soon and your dinner for 60 sounds amazing!
  17. Plus the lingo is different in all countries.
  18. Adding: Think of a golf shirt as more of a “top” than a shirt. For Cunard, the “collared shirt” is more like a “dress shirt”; the kind which you wear with a suit/jacket or similar to a button-down shirt that you wear untucked. Sorry. I don’t know how to make myself clearer. I am not up with the mens clothing lingo! 😂 Having said that, I can’t imagine they will turn him away from the MDR on Smart Attire Night.
  19. @judydoc, welcome to Cunard! These are from the daily planners onboard: I hope you find these helpful and I hope you have a wonderful time!!
  20. So happy to hear that you made it! Have a wonderful cruise.
  21. That looks like Bar Harbor.
  22. No. I am saying nothing to the OP; I am responding to your query. I use a PCC and not a TA. It’s the solution which works best for me in order to cut through the red tape. ( Such as the situation the OP currently faces. ) But that is also a thread “sidetrack “.
  23. An airline comparison is apples to oranges. To compare apples to apples, the cruise lines operate in the same way that resorts and hotels work. If you cancel within the window, providing you purchased a refundable fare, you will get a full refund. (And airlines also allow for it if you purchase a refundable fare.)
  24. Sheesh. Definitely a lot of digging. And then I got ticked off, again, reading what a hassle it was to get my suite credits! 😂 So, yes, the booking number remained the same. I also discovered that we upgraded to an SY (Signature Suite) from a Verandah; and not a Vista, as I had thought. Following final payment, we received an upgrade offer to a Neptune, which we purchased.
