  1. That's what I was told by the rep when I asked if a minimum gamble. Not a penny.
  2. Whenever I've played the table games, I always buy in with a $100 bill. They've had to call the pit boss so I go on the clock immediately. When I color out, I convert back to cash and later buy in with another $100 bill. I also notice when the pit boss is going on break. That's when I leave. I've remained on the clock until he returns and notices I'm gone. That's what I did at land casinos to increase ratings a little. But if they don't know who you are, you don't accumulate time at the table. And as someone else pointed out earlier, always place your room key into the slot/video poker machine when playing cash.
  3. I received a free 7 night Veranda cabin offer in October. I called to see if there was a mistake. Even though I've sailed Celebrity several times since 2016, according to the representative who confirmed it wasn't a mistake, the last time I gambled in one of Celebrity's casino's was 2016. I've got a solo cabin in a couple of weeks with no minimum spending required in the casino. Since I'm a bottom level club member, I have to pay the $145 port/taxes, grats and buy my own liquor outside of the elite happy hour.
  4. That's what I suspected however I thought others with more knowledge could share the blame with the DW if I answered incorrectly. πŸ˜„
  5. GeorgiaPeach51, I came up with a question I hope someone can answer. We'll be doing the Splendor L.A. to Miami through the Panama Canal in January. My DW asked if we will be transiting the old or new locks? Does anyone know or can you ask a crew member who might know? Thankx. Steve
  6. @GeorgiaPeach51I want to thank you so much for an excellent cruise report. We've had our first two Regent cruises this year but on their older ships. In January we board the Splendor so I was encouraged by your various posts.
  7. Thank you for alerting us on the new Itineraries. I have been impatiently waiting for them so I could replace a 2023 Venice (not) cruise where the airfare would be $9K. Azamara air did not offer business class. We booked before Venice banned ships so i wasn't happy with a 2.5 hour bus trip to the port either. Thankx to you we were able to transfer our reservation and same category, same nights to the Caribbean December 2024 which is exactly what I was hoping for but at a couple thousand cheaper. We can drive to Miami. Granted it's not the bucket list cruise I wanted, but they moved the goal post, so it dropped off my desire at this time. Whenever I've book at new itinerary releases, I've never been able to get a cheaper price when they throw sales, regardless of the cruise line. The only people who may save later, booked later at higher pricing.
  8. Am I mistaken or is Sette Mari always heavy on the carbs? When I've looked at the menus, it appeared that way which I have to restrict.
  9. Delicious escargot was served on Mariner's last sailing to L.A. I enjoyed it two evenings! Excellent and not served the traditional way I discovered. Much better.
  10. We just disembarked the Mariner this morning. When we began the cruise, Regent instructed us to register with their agent in the hotel upon our arrival how many bags we wanted them to transport to the ship. They then told us to leave them inside the room by the door by 8am. We went to their supplied breakfast buffet. By the time we returned, the bags were missing and showed up at our suite. The other carry one we didn't want them to transport was still in our room. BTW we decided to take others advice from Cruise Critic about not using the bus to the cruise terminal so we took an Uber. We arrived before the masses who used the Regent transportation. As a result our embarkation process was much shorter than others who arrived with the masses. Don't worry. It was a wonderful experience not having to deal with it on embarkation day.
  11. These are pictures from the Ketchikan Alaskan Lodge Adventure and Seafeast excursion. It ended with a crab boil pot dumped onto the center of the table. I didn't take the picture. It had crab legs, clams, kielbasa, sausage, potatoes and corn on the cob.It was a real hands on meal. If you look at the octopus picture; the tentacle to the right is pointing to a huge fallen tree root ball. It still becomes part of the echo system and other growth takes over in this rain rich Forrest. Look through the window and you'll see the waves crashing up against the boat.
  12. Can you guess what happened to our OBC???? Mary Francis. (OOPS: I must be the typical male. Anyone notice I placed the cocktail bag upside down. rofl) It's called making a deposit in my DW's emotional bank account so I can take the debits which I am sure to need. πŸ˜€
  13. Correction: 3/4 of a mile. More coffee please.
  14. Hi, I didn't want to step on Crusin7's excellent thread but wanted to add some photos I thought you may enjoy. While some people had a nightmare embarking which took them 2 hours, we took an Uber to the port. We tried to take a taxi but for some reason they were all lined up at the pier waiting and wouldn't come to the hotel. Thus my first time using Uber. Less than $10can. I'll use them again. Since we got there early, we zipped through embarkation. We waited 1/2 and hour in chairs...we were 7 & 8th in line. I'm glad I read previous threads where people took separate transportation instead of the bus. This is one of the top two cruises we've taken in 30 years, well except for all the Alaska rain and fog. Food is excellent. So are our cabin attendants and butler. One night we shared a table with another couple who we've befriended. He was saying he wished he had peach pie instead of the two offerings they had that night. I suggested he ask for peach pie. The worst that would happen is they'd say sorry. We'll after a couple of trips back and forth, Benjie said they would have peach pie for us tomorrow. OMG was it sooooo good. It didn't have the usual thin filling. It was so dense and flavorful. Thank you Benjie and the Chef! Best I've ever eaten. Well we were having dinner with that couple of few nights later when Benji stopped by. We asked if there was any peach pie left. He said no, but come back tomorrow. WHAM another round of fantastic peach pie. How many other cruise lines would be so accommodating? We were able to acquire two Prime 7 and two Chartreuse reservations. Here are some photos This is the Seafood Plateau offered in Prime 7. Shrimp, lobster, crab leg and snow crab claws. Cruise Critic posted this one out of order. s We had a very nice room in the Fairmont Vancouver. When I looked outside our window and saw both Tiffany's and Cartier across the street, I locked my DW in the room. J/K. I really loved the fact that we left the bags in the room, went to the supplied breakfast then came back to missing luggage. We found them once we got to our cabin. lol Here we were sailing away from Vancouver. Sailing out of Ketchikan Sailing into Juneau Window shopping in Juneau. I didn't see anyone buying these. But I did see several people walking around in shorts and t-shirt. Too cold for my liking. We did the taste of Sitka which included a salmon lunch and beer tasting. Afterwards the chef showed his filleting talents on this white King Salmon. It was a very good fish. The menu The specially prepared peach pie times two! What an unexpected treat. Sailing into Hubbard Glacier. The 30 second video I posted on Crusin7's thread with the glacier calving.
  15. Thank you for an excellent thread. We're onboard as well and are taking great advantage of the laundry frequently. I hope you don't mind that I'm uploading a short video of Hubbard Calving. We were within about 75 yards of the glacier if I remember correctly what the enrichment speaker told us on deck 12 outside of the Observation lounge. We were very close with what they said was the best weather and conditions of the season. 850832852_!!!HubbardCalvingSept2022.MOV
  16. We'll be disembarking Pier 46 in early October. Are there taxis to LAX there and does anyone know what they charge? I don't really want a limo service.
  17. With the premium pkg you can stop by the buffet bar on your way out and ask for a vitamin water which is included. I like the Orange. πŸ™‚ they're good to keep in the cabin. If the cooler isn't that cool, there's always ice.
  18. A couple days ago we received notice that Regent cancelled our Grand Cayman excursion on our January Panama Canal cruise. When I went to the website to find a substitution I discovered there were no excursions available for the port either free or choice. The port still shows on the itinerary. The Regent rep says she shows no excursions listed for the port either but to wait a few days to see what they post. Does anyone know if there is something happening with Grand Cayman or if it's being removed from itineraries? Thankx.
  19. Not only is the laundry included for all suites, but it's unlimited. In May we sent laundry out just about every other day. I loved how the shirts came back on hangers while the other pieces were folded.
  20. We too will be on the Sept 21 cruise to LA. We have a shower only cabin which I prefer. I'm hoping the cruise will be a wonderful experience. However since several of our excursions include a salmon meal, I can do the scallops, lobster and Filets in the restaurants and still be happy. πŸ˜„ This is our third try attempting an AK cruise. Hopefully this will be the charm.
  21. Maybe for where you are or some of 2024 however not the four TA sites I checked for Dec. 2024
  22. I never bring a ball gown either. 🀣
  23. The good thing is that once someone sails with AZ, all the accumulated points with Celebrity will stay on their AZ account after the split. But not if they didn't sail AZ until after the split.
