  1. The Hollywood Club should be made a child free zone. It's intended to be a peaceful place, not a playroom.
  2. I'm also on Luminosa currently and I've been very happy with the MDR food and service. There is wider choice in the menus than Princess and less of the supposedly fancy (weird) stuff . I agree the buffet offering is basic. The layout and how they group the food is a bit awkward. The entertainment schedule doesn't seem as well organised as in the past on Spirit and Splendor. Usually trivia and menus match the theme of the night e.g. tonight is Island Night menu but it's the 80s deck party. I rather think they are leaving the deck parties until the end of the cruise so if people crowd together, Mr Covid won't show up until everyone is off the ship!
  3. Unfortunately, the food in those venues is at additional cost.
  4. The port side of Dolphin deck was closed off - I assumed they were using that for quarantine purposes.
  5. I'm just off Majestic too today. I'm Elite as well and have recently cruised on Coral and Grand as comparisons. I have to say that the Majestic is my least favourite of all the Princess ships I have sailed on. It is certainly beautiful but I found it awkward and the public rooms not comfortable. A big disappointment for me was the reliance on that awful Princess Live room. It is totally unsuitable for trivia and game shows, everyone crammed in rows like a lecture theatre. Not really possible to social distance in there. Therefore we only attended the morning trivia in the Vista Lounge. I agree 100pc about the Conservatory. I enquired the first morning and was told it was unavailable the whole cruise as it was being used for 'meetings'. Best room on the ship. Fortunately we were able to spend some time there yesterday. Restaurant food and staff were great. The pizza was top notch too. I found the bar staff to be a bit on the surly side and the coffee was not good. Weather was hideous and missing Port Arthur was a blow but that's not Princess' fault. I would not go on the Majestic again. And I'm going on Luminosa in December, so thank you for the positive info. I'm looking forward to it.. and some good weather . .hopefully!
  6. He was CD on Celebrity Century 10 years ago and he was fabulous. He ran the most detailed & enjoyable music trivias I have ever attended and gave talks about his career as a Hollywood stuntman. I'm on Ovation in February. What a shame he is leaving.
  7. Ugh. I can't access the questions now. Guess it's yellow lane for us.
  8. We are boarding Majestic Princess today. We have been Green Lane for ages. Did all the necessary tests and uploads yesterday and got all the ticks and were green lane still. I've just checked now and we've both turned yellow lane. Is this a Sunday website maintenance issue and does this mean that everyone is probably yellow lane now? How do they manage that at embarkation?
  9. I guess all the 20 and 30 somethings who don't buy travel or any other insurance think that's what the purpose of go. FUND. ME is for.
  10. Excellent news! I'll be on Luminosa 4 December and I hope this is enforced. I can see from other places that this news has not gone down well......
  11. Just got an email from Princess. Masks are mandatory again for this cruise. Onboard and at embarkation. Now we won't be the only ones wearing masks. I am very happy about this! Common sense prevails...hopefully it's enforced.
  12. Thanks for your reply arxcards. You would think that they would try to NOT have people crowded together unnecessarily right at the start of the cruise, particularly with no masks or social distancing required. I wish the medallions could be sent ahead of the cruise as they are in the U.S.
  13. What has been the process so far for Majestic Princess at the OPT, in particular for the Medallion collection¿ As I'm travelling with my elderly mum, I want to try and avoid a crowd if possible. We are Elite and are in boarding group A. We did Coral Princess a few weeks ago and it was 'normal' checkin, followed by the Medallion collection. Very streamlined and quick. Then I did Grand Princess Syd-Mel and I was not impressed by the embarkation process at all. The Medallion collection was first and everyone was herded into the lower level of the OPT and had to queue up in one if those winding back and forth queues to get the Medallion. Then upstairs for the actual checkin. I hope that was a one off.
  14. I'm supposed to be going on Majestic Princess on Sunday. Honestly, with this tugboat business brewing and the covid issue.....I really don't care now if I go or not. As long as Princess refund....
  15. Carnival needs to be sensible and fully reinstate the mask mandate otherwise every cruise longer than a week is going to end up like this. You cannot trust people to do the right thing. And it's always those with the hacking coughs that don't cover up.
  16. I boarded Grand Princess today. No requirement for masks in the terminal. I was one of the few wearing one. I have only seen 1 cabin with the tell tale table outside so far.
  17. It's very unfortunate that the mask mandate was dropped before this cruise. If it had remained, perhaps so many people would not have a spoiled cruise.
  18. Use the webchat. That is manned by Princess AU staff
  19. I did a Japan cruise on Norwegian Jewel a few years ago. It was my first Norwegian cruise and I was very happy with it. I've cruised with Princess, Celebrity and Royal and Norwegian is right up with them. I'd base the choice on itinerary.
  20. Maybe longer cruises such as this should have different protocols, even if it is just the requirement for a PCR or a verified RAT prior to embarkation. And maybe broad testing every 5 days or so. The media has been eagerly waiting for this to happen and they are going to flog it to death now.
  21. I did the 1 night Pacific Adventure activation cruise from White Bay on Thursday. Masks were compulsory on both embarkation & disembarkation
  22. I didn't get the email today but when I log into my account, the cheap offers are there. I already have a cheap solo 7 nighter in December on Luminosa. I'd love to book another but the threat of airport strikes on the horizon is already making me nervous. I've even booked the train from Sydney to Brisbane as a backup option in case the flights are a mess.
  23. Reports from the first cruise of Carnival Splendor state that masks were optional for crew....and passengers! And most did not wear them. 😮 I have the feeling the requirement is going to be dropped soon. Not good.
  24. Im just off Coral this morning. I am disappointed at the laxity of mask enforcement. The staff tick the boxes about making the announcements but there is no follow through. Although I did see the guy in charge of the Horizon Buffet block an obviously hungover bogan from entering without mask. He decided to go elsewhere. I was travelling with my elderly mum who has health issues. First day in the lift, 2 ladies went to enter maskless. I indicated to my mask that they were needed. I got the Dorrie Evans response..."Nobody told me, nobody said that. " except the signs on the wall at the elevators perhaps? My other big issue was the mobility seating at the rear of the theatre. There are obviously elderly and frail people seated there, all wearing masks. Lights go out, the latecomers all stagger in, usually maskless and fill the empty seats in those rows. Princess no longer has a staff member on duty at the rear of the theatre to monitor this or to eject noisy drunks or troublemakers. Not good.
