  1. Hi Melody, I love that picture🙂and hope you are having a good day. Did you book that cruise with your cousin?
  2. You didn't? If I may ask, what city do you fly from?
  3. Hi, not so sure about that.........they have changed a lot of things over the past couple of years. I have booked multiple hotels through SS and the flights don't have anything to do with it. Actually, they changed their "Gateway Cities" and in order not pay a deviation fee, I now book my own flight to the Gateway City (if I am flying to Europe) because I can find a lower rate on that domestic flight than what SS would charge me. The Business Class flight overseas through SS is still lower than I can do on my own but the domestic? Not so much.
  4. I have never sailed Princess either but every major cruise line (especially Mass Market) always has a variety of dinner options. Every cruise I have ever taken has always had non-fish options on board. Poultry, Beef, Pork, Pasta, etc...etc....etc have always been available.
  5. Thanks for the review🙂. I will be on the Dawn in August and wonder if the new evening entertainment will be on board. I was on Spirit last month and it was still the 6 Voices. Guess i will find out soon enough🙂
  6. Hi, is the question for me? The cruiseline is Silversea. The ship? I have been on multiple ships with them.
  7. Hi Mysty, Sitka is lovely. I have been multiple times and your excursion sounds like a lot of fun😀. Not sure if it is all day thing but the downtown area is really nice, if you have the time to walk around.
  8. Good replies🙂 I have been cruising solo for 20 years and I love it!......you can do whatever you want (or don't want for that matter)....if you want to get up early, go for it......if you want to sleep in? Do it. If you enjoy certain activities, give them a try......it is a nice way to meet others (If you want to) or, if you just want to lay out, read a book and take a nap, do that too. After all these years of cruising solo, not sure I ever want to share a cabin with anyone ever again LOL. I have been on my own for 90% of my life so even here at home, I don't share with anyone.....so sharing space on a cruise ship? That would not be in the cards for me.....and that is ok! I value my space. Just got back last month from a cruise around Greece and Turkey😃 LOVED IT! Going again in August to the British Isles....can't wait! Hope you have a wonderful cruise, whatever line and itinerary you are choosing🙂
  9. Sometimes I just want to read about things and how other's pack, etc.......but I don't bring 1/2 (or actually more than that) of the items suggested. Maybe I am just very low maintenance and/or have been lucky or just don't want to bring the "extras". Someone mentioned "ladies will be happier with their own shampoos" I totally disagree. I happen to LOVE the shampoo's, conditioners and body wash offered by the line I sail. I never bring my own anymore. I don't need pegs for a shower curtain.....the showers are all doors. I don't bring anything to stand my toothbrush, toothpaste, etc...in, as there are glasses in the bathroom to use. I have never brought a door decoration with me. And they do have paper and pen in the cabin so no need to bring them either, although I probably have a couple of pens in my purse as standard items. And in 20 years of cruising I have never brought a roll of duct tape. Never bring a hamper. I sail solo and usually have any empty drawer in the closet or I may throw clothes into my carry on..... Anyway, this thread just says to me "Different strokes for different folks".
  10. Good morning, wishing all of you Mom's, Grandma's (not sure if we have any Great Granma's) or anyone who is in the position of a Mom.................hope you have a wonderful day doing whatever you want😃
  11. Lola, that is wonderful🙂.....you must be a very proud GREAT Grandma🙂 Terry, you meant to say No "Great" grandchildren for many years😃 Wishing all the Moms, Grandmas, Great Grandmas, and whoever serves as a Mom....hope all of you have a wonderful day, doing whatever you want🙂
  12. I bought a pair of BZees last year and have used them on multiple cruises on all my tours. They are lightweight, cushiony and supportive🙂 This is a photo of the ones I have........I would highly recommend them.
  13. Hi, well, I used them post cruise when I needed to get from Vancouver to to Seattle same day. I had a late night flight back to the East Coast so I had plenty of time.
  14. I did this route multiple times and used a company called "Quick Shuttle" to get from Vancouver to Seattle. Here is a link to their website: https://quickcoach.com/
  15. We don't tip our Doctors and Dentists........hairdresser, yes.....but the other 2? Nope. You had mentioned only bringing a carry on bag.....if nobody is helping you with your luggage, then you don't tip anyone. I have stayed at places where they may have someone to do it, but I just say no thanks and take my own luggage. And no, you don't need to tip the person who opens the door to the hotel for you. (if there even is one). Sorry our customs makes you feel so uncomfortable that you won't cruise from here. I know new things can be a bit overwhelming but it is pretty easy really. The "service industry" people are normally the ones who receive tips.
  16. Hi, as mentioned, the Heat (if they are even playing at that point) would be night games. They are playing the Knicks right now and need to win one of these last 2 games in order to make it to the Eastern finals. They would then have to win that series in order to make to The Finals. But again, the Finals are a Prime Time event so it should have no affect on cruises. As for when the FInals are happening, the schedule is June 1---June 18th if it goes 7 games with days off in between.
  17. The deposit itself is 11 grand??? For each of you? The normal deposit is 15% of the cruise price. Maybe I am out of touch but that seems like a awlfully BIG deposit, (Unless the cruise is nearly $75,000 per person). I have never been on an Expedition cruise.....maybe they are VERY expensive compared to the Classic cruises.
  18. I have never taken an "Expedition Cruise" but every thread I have read about it says there are no formal nights on those sailings.
  19. Hi, I try to watch my carbs and they are always accommodating. For dinner, example, I try to avoid potatoes and tell them to leave them off the plate. Never had an issue. I am usually pleased with the choices. I am a type 2 but can always do better with my eating habits. If it is a choice between a glass of wine and dessert, I pick the wine. There are many times I never do dessert.
  20. Hi Melissa, this sounds like a fantastic trip!🙂 Hope you both have a wonderful time. Is the 2nd cruise on Seabourn too? I have looked at them multiple times for a cruise but never booked. Let us know all about it when you return home.
