  1. You can basically create your own "Traditional Dining" by doing your own bookings for the same time .
  2. I am sorry to read this. This affirms why I cancelled our Transpacific leaving Sydney on March 31st. We really wanted to do this, however, the stress is incredible to fly to a foreign country and then do a covid test before embarking. We were elated when we tested negative at our London hotel last May before boarding in Southampton. Flying over 8,000 miles and then needing to test was not appealing. Due to the specifications, we would not be able to test before leaving home. It takes a long time to get there! I wish all of you safe and healthy travels.
  3. When your cabin is ready, yes then you can make the call. If it is not ready, you can visit a dining room and speak with the Maitre D and be put on the list. Princess does a great job of having the cabins ready in a timely manner.
  4. What you have discovered is correct. The very first thing I did upon entering our cabin ( the Grand in September), was to call the Dine Line and ask to be on the list for the Chef's Table or Winemaker's Dinner. She took our name and cabin number and said IF there was to be a Chef's Table, then we were on the list and they would contact us later with the details. She also said that there would be no Winemaker's Dinner. Yes, it was worth it and we received the information just a day or two later after my call to the Dine Line. We were seated at a large square table in the Crown Grill (side room) with about 3 other couples. DH is unable to drink alcoholic beverages so his fee was less, however, they offered him many other nice options during the dinner. It was very impressive and the hosts, servers, and chefs took much pride in what they were doing. We received a very nice autographed cookbook and photograph of the attendees. I believe that only one Chef's Table is offered per cruise... maybe it depends on the length of the cruise. Ours was 12 nights.
  5. Thank you to Thrak about the reminder regarding the toilets. When we boarded the Grand last September, our cabin steward was very emphatic about what could and could not be placed in the toilet and why. I think this in person "infomercial" may become part of the introductory process now for stewards. He was a sweetie and lovely steward!
  6. Yes, the balconies are larger than some, however completely uncovered. You might be able to make some changes, depending on how full the ship is. You could call your TA. We always book at least a partially covered and a large balcony and prefer aft, not midship.
  7. All of the previous comments are excellent. I want to add that there is also a Walmart at the Puerto Vallarta port in easy walking distance if there are a few items you forgot or need to add to your diaper supply.
  8. Have you joined your Roll Call? We are booked for June 3 on the Sky and have an active Roll Call which has bee a tremendous help in booking our shore excursions. We booked the Flaam train as well and it fill up quickly!!!
  9. We are on the Sky for June 3, 2023 for Iceland and Norway.
  10. These will change. It will be announced in the Princess Patter each day. You will receive those a day ahead in your cabin.
  11. Yes, THIS! There really is not much to do in San Pedro itself. It is not a "destination". I was born in S. CA and grew up there. I have driven all of the main highways going north and south many times. Do not take Hwy. 1, take 101.
  12. There are area offices in the states where you can get a passport the same day. (Expedited)
  13. It may be helpful to go to the "North American Homeports, West Coast Departues" board and do a search for hotels there.
  14. We love in Washington and drove to Vancouver this past September (and home). I will tell you that this is a very expensive city!!! At least you will not have the challenge of finding parking- you are from Illinois, correct?
  15. We enjoyed our forward deluxe balcony on the Regal (Lido deck) I am also short and can't see over the steel barrier. Someone on these boards said that she stacks two balcony chairs and she can see out! The balcony is enormous!
  16. We were on the Grand this last September. The VERY FIRST thing we did was go to our cabin and I immediately dialed the Dine Line. I asked about the Chef's Table and she took our names and cabin number to be on the list. She said that IF there was going to be one that we would be contacted. We received a message on the phone just a day or two later and we would be attending. It was a fun experience and worth the time and expense. DH does not drink alcohol so his charge was lower. They were very sweet and offered him other beverages and it cost less.
  17. Actually, the Grand Princess departs Sydney, Australia on March 31st. Has she joined the Roll Call board? Many are asking about Mah Jong. The safe bet is to bring your own.
  18. May: Emerald Princess for 12 night British Isles roundtrip from Southampton September: Grand Princess for 12 night Alaska itinerary roundtrip from Vancouver, BC We have cancelled our Transpacific from Sydney, Australia in 2023 , due to the stress involved in covid testing for embarkation. It was very stressful to fly to London knowing that we needed to test to embark, after flying there. We were ok, but flying 14 hours to Australia and having to test no more than 48 hours before embarkation was really not appealing.
  19. We enjoyed the Crown Grill a few times. We really liked the quality of the food. I had the lobster tail one night and then a filet. Both were very good. I had not enjoyed a filet in many years, so this was a real treat. We Our first server was on the "cool" side, but the next one was very personable.
  20. I think the original person was referring to the forward cabins. The balconies are ENORMOUS. We had one on the Regal and nobody ever even inferred that they would lock our balcony door. We only needed to keep the drapes closed at night so our lights would not interfere with the Bridge.
