  1. I caught a cab. Thought is was resonable I think about 30-40 from memory.
  2. We won two seats at the Chefs Table.
  3. Light weight clothes and pack a jumper or two and jacket. Also not everywhere has AC and depending where you go the humidity levels vary. The weather is very variable at the moment in Australia. Also watch the sun. Though you might look up and think oh its cloudy no need to wear hat or apply sunscreen. Wrong. Can still get sunburn.
  4. The Royal Princess didn't have any AUD plugs. Lucky I brought converters/adaptors and also cabin steward got me one too.
  5. Port fees is the reason. I asked the Future Cruise Consultant onboard Royal Princess about the Melbourne situation.
  6. There never really a perfect time to go that region. Though some times slightly more safer than other times. I've been pretty lucky as I have managed to get through most of the middle East except for Iran/Iraq in 2005 and then I went back to Egypt/Jordan in 2012. I've never cruised through the canal though.
  7. Thanks guys for your posts. I too have been following your discussions. Everyone likes a good repo 🙂
  8. Nope they not giving them out any more. We cruised in Suite on Royal Princess and they didn't have them at all and I saw no other passengers with them either. Also pen and note pad seems to have vanished from rooms too.
  9. Nothing. They do have staff monitoring passengers in buffet area asking them to wash their hands. But I didn't eat at the buffet this cruise at all.
  10. Splendour is a weird layout. Just got to remember the Dolly PArton song and you be fine. Its not my favourite Carnival ship (mainly due to layout), but the staff were fantastic on there. We had some very good dining room staff.
  11. Nothing wrong with staying in Auckland for a week. There is heaps to see. Also Auckland does have a fairly good public bus system. Plus there is the ferries to the Islands too.
  12. Nice. I like Voyager. Any sort of inkling how its getting to Australia. Isn't it in Europe at moment?
  13. I do not understand why people go ga gaga over Lobster. Very overrated.
  14. I have done longer cruises and found that some Princess activities during the day can be stale. Not trivia fans (certain cruisers can get very upset at trivia and I aint on a cruise for dramas) and sometimes we do the theatre. But some how we manage to fill in our days. We are great nappers.
  15. What the definition of the right travel insurance. That they got any insurance or that its with a particular company/insurer. Carnival checks this at check in time.
  16. This bit is correct. I only read the first couple of lines. But I doubled checked the page. I think that reasonable. As they would have costs too.
  17. Make sure you check out the cancellatin policy. Ive just read the one for Fantail Tours and you get nothing back if the ship can't dock.
  18. That a shame. Its a nice cruise into Dunedin. My old stomping ground when I was a teenager. Nice quiet town. Horrible winters.
  19. Dont those noodles who acquired the billard balls know that there is cameras all over the ship. Have there been any off loading of passengers at any ports yet or have the balls been returned.
  20. Pete and I sail on her on 28 December from Sydney to Auckland. We both splashed out and sailing in a Suite with Prenuim package for our birthdays and Xmas pressie. And last drinks for me for a several months. We meant to sail on her in April to Japan but that might be off the cards.
  21. Ok no worries. I just cruising before end of January.
  22. Is this just an upgrade to their existing ap?
  23. I'm disappointed too. Because travelling up to Sydney or Brisbane can add up to $1000 on your journery. You have to factor in accommodation, flights, meals, parking at airport. The itinerary will have to tempt me to fly to those ports.
  24. Okay. The new programme of sailings open today for Elite. So I put a couple of holds on some cruises out of Australia. I wanted to put a hold on the cruise on the Discovery Princess but I couldn't find anything I like. At the moment I have holds on the following: Grand Princess 37 day South Pacfic/Hawaii, Taihiti and what makes it more interesting they threw in stops in Norfolk Island, Samoa and Tonga. Oct 16 2025 11 Day PNG Cruise Grand Princess 24 March 2026 Did anyone else put holds on or book anything from today release.
