  1. Really, really, really hard isn't it? The love of my life passed in March 2021. I encourage you to sail solo. I deliberately booked cruises this year for Feb (his birthday), and March (my birthday, our anniversary, his death) to be busy and having a good time during the "bad time of year". I knew I would have my books to read, and things to do. What I was surprised about was the amazing people I met. I never intrude on other people's conversations: all the great people I met started talking to me. Dining room at my table for two next to them, Diamond Lounge. I met a group of older Cubans who immigrated to the US from Cuba between 1959 and 1967. Fascinating stories. I met my new Travel Agent. I met people who invited me to go on cruises they already have booked. We have to establish a "new life", a "different life", and embed happy memories of things we did without our love, who is gone. Bit by bit stitch our lives back together with our own experiences. Courage and look forward. Good thoughts for you.
  2. I call my OPS a "hobby"...............................😉
  3. I am probably the only person who remembers the "toga night". We were supplied with an extra flat sheet and asked to wear them to dinner that night. I had to trade sexual favors to get my husband to wear it........................................
  4. Me, too. Just now got off the call. She couldn't find a wine, then found it. They are working with a list, and not the flyer shown above, so the descriptions are different.
  5. Just remember, you might pay your budget back for some of that splurge by food, gas, and utilities savings while you're gone. (I'm a spreadsheet planner myself).
  6. I tried to say this about a ship I was on during late April to mid-May. I was chastised and told it was probably "allergies", and how did I know it could be COVID. All I know is I've been cruising for 49 years, and I know a respiratory infection cough when I hear it. I was on cruises starting in mid-Feb, and it was after the mask mandate was stopped that the coughing started. Before that: crickets. So, maybe not COVID, but definitely something contagious. I think the isolation cabins are so other people sharing the same cabin, as long as they test negative, can come and go on the ship.
  7. Yes, but when you get on the ship you can change it. I suggest using the BOGO's first, then use the 3-night package. But, check for lunches the first 2 days, also, because you can use the 3ND package for lunches, too (I think). Right now the packages are reduced, maybe, sorta, might be just the regular price advertised as a sale. But, if you buy it pre-cruise, then you will able to see if a specialty restaurant is open on embarkation day for lunch.
  8. Only if you want to change the choices. Otherwise, it stays the same until you change it again.
  9. Yes, and you can also buy a 3-night package for after you use your bogos.
  10. OP: the drink package can be used for just about anything you may choose to drink, and those non-alcoholic drinks can add up, too. Plus, it's nice to have more choices for lunch and dinner. Your family income; your choices. Be a sucker: only I wouldn't call it that. I would call it "it's worth it to us to enjoy our every so often cruises".
  11. You, too: enjoy your day, also. I mean that sincerely. Be safe, be careful. No one wants to get sick when they don't have to. I think if RCCL agreed with your opinion about the incubation period, they wouldn't be testing their crew on a regular basis and requiring them to still wear masks. I've been on 3 ships since mid-Feb to mid-May, and seen the change-over from all masks all the time for passengers, to voluntary. But, their crew must wear masks. My conclusion is RCCL still thinks passengers are getting on their ships and bringing the virus with them. I'm a little confused at your misinterpretation of my phrasing, though. I think "likely" and "just as easily" are synonymous with "possible". 'Nuff said.
  12. I wasn't replying to you; it was just the next post. When I reply to someone I quote them, like you did above. I did read the information on both those sites before I posted. It could just as easily be that passengers come on board a cruise ship already incubating the virus. It's a huge guessing game, and that's why most health related sites advise taking precautions when in crowded places. I always use Costco as an example: lots of people with few masks these days.
  13. I just squeaked in to Pinnacle status with 702 points. I found out that if you move a cruise to a different cruise, and you booked during the double point window, the double points follow you to the new cruise. I was on a 10 night Vision cruise in March as a solo, and got 40 points for it. I wonder if they will ever do that promo again?
  14. If you tested positive after an 8 day cruise, it is also likely you picked up the virus before you left for the cruise. It can take up to 14 days to show symptoms. Do you mask at home when you are in crowded places? If not, you could have picked it up before you got on the ship. You can verify this information @healthline and the CDC web site.
  15. If you are stopping in Kotor, be sure to go up high in the ship with a good view for the sail away. It's spectacular. Just a taste:
  16. Off topic, but............................... https://www.ebay.com/itm/125030313220?hash=item1d1c632d04:g:6RIAAOSw0vhhqDRK
  17. Princess does a lot of this: used to drive me a little batty. They especially segment their World Cruise into smaller segments (much smaller than RCCL's current selling one).
  18. Would that be a spider roll I see in the foreground? My all, all, all time favorite! (Excuse me, I have to go wipe my chin: I'm drooling all over it).
  19. So far I haven't been dinged with that. My new TA just gives me more OBC. (grinny face)
  20. I've read two articles in the last two days that appear to be written by or about "experts". It makes me laugh at what some people will throw out there. Rule of thumb in the Windjammer: make sure there is a sole of some footwear between your foot and the floor. The one that got me this morning was a couple that found it cheaper to retire on a cruise ship. OK, sounds good. The wife is a retired accountant and crunched the numbers. She found out what most of us know. That's good. What she missed is how much more she would get for free IF THEY STAYED WITH ONE CRUISE LINE. They are bouncing all over, which would drive me nutz. Unpack, stay for a loooooong time: I'm good.
  21. Plus, the reduced deposit. I like that alot.
  22. Whoops! Read that one too fast, and closed the window. You're right.
  23. Love me my Izumi's. Don't want the Hibachi, which is extra, and I LOVE the regular menu.
  24. You no longer have to upload your vaccination record. You do still have to get a $40 travel authorization.
