I am wondering if a person could show up at the check in deck of a MDR and order a meal to go?

I also emailed last night and got a call first thing this morning. Same speech as above from someone who said Lisa asked her to call.. lol… but at least listened to my concerns and said they truly value my Elite status and that Lisa definitely listens. She also sent a follow up email asking me to give feedback after my upcoming cruise. Not naive enough to think a few of us can change this scale back of Oceanview, but maybe at least a little will be different instead of a lot!

Could you share what those social media sites are? I'm on several and haven't heard of this yet.

Definitely would cancel the 8 cruises we have booked if they do this. We eat exclusively in Oceanview or specialty, so unless there are other options than MDR, it's a hard pass.

That appears to be true most of the time. I always book solo and the difference is often up to $1000 more for AI. Very happy they now offer cruise only as that definitely saves if you don’t drink a lot or have Elite or higher status and only drink during those times.

Agree... always bring a small bag with the "might need" items. If you travel a lot it's easy to tear a strip off each of the bubble pack meds for each person. Buy some of the tiny 2 inch zip top baggies at the craft store for the others. Write on the outside what it is and the exp date. Mine all fit in a little 4 inch square zipper pouch. Don't need too many... just enough to get to a port where someone can get off and purchase some at normal prices. Dollar store is the absolute best for cold meds and other things that you may not ever use. I include Azo (in case of urinary tract issues), ibuprofen, night & day cold meds, pepto bismol or other stomach stuff, bandaids, Dramamine, Benadryl, etc. Also, don't forget to pack an extra week of any meds you take daily, in case you get sick or can't travel for some reason.

Great news! Our flight is at 2pm, so if we get a private car by 9am that should be sufficient…

Thanks so much for your review so far. We are on our first Apex cruise in Jan, and agree our favorite ships are M class. We are Sunset Veranda people, no suites, so it will be interesting to see how it all feels. Hopefully ok, since we have 2 more E class booked... lol... always easy to move to something else if need be, but staying positive about it. Our biggest issue is that the 3 of us really enjoy sitting in SkyLounge reading or listening to trivia, etc. and know that isn't an option with E class. Someone said that Eden has little "alcove" areas for sitting and at least getting some natural light from windows, although not forward facing. Have you seen anything like that as you walk thru there or up the "ramp"? Anxious to hear what else you have to report...

Just got off Solstice last Saturday. Had a great cruise, although we would have preferred Mazatlan to Ensenada... but we live just north of San Diego, so it was great being able to drive to the port. We had first check in at 11:30 and have never had such a fast experience... 10 min from terminal doorway to ship door. All of the staff were extremely friendly. We dine only in Oceanview and will say that it was the best variety and quality of food we have had in years. Plenty of staff walking around clearing tables and we heard many were new. They did a superb job! Shows in the theatre were excellent. Production shows were very good... and in 7 nights they did at least 3 shows (although Amadea is not our favorite, it wasn't their fault). Walk on performers were all very good as well. Sounds like your passenger count may be a bit lower than ours... Thanksgiving week certainly had a different vibe than we are used to. Had around 2000 passengers, of which 350 were children with parents who let them run amok in the SkyLounge, playing hide and seek and screaming... lol... we survived, but like a little quieter environment. There were so many family games/events going on everywhere around the ship. They really did change things up for the population onboard. Have a wonderful cruise... will be following to see how it goes for you.

Agree... We just got off Solstice and had 7360, 7362, and 7364. We never heard any door noise, toilet flushing, showers, or anything else. We all said these were the most quiet of any SVs we have ever had... and we always book SV cabins. 7364 balcony was a bit wider than the others and there was a closet between it and 7362, but never a sound. These balconies were also very shallow... would not accommodate a lounger, but had two chairs and a small round table.

I was never aware that you could book those online. We have always called and booked directly with Celebrity after getting home with the strange little "receipt". That would sure be nice to be able to do it yourself without calling. Please report back with your experience!

Thanks, Den... will be interested to see how available the alcove type places are. We always book Sunset Verandas so we're definitely happy with wake view, but hope for some comfortable chairs!

Thanks so much for your comments. We're on Apex in January 2023 and Oct 2024, as well as Edge in May 2024. We spend several hours of our day in Sky Lounge reading and socializing, so we'll surely miss that area. Hopefully we can find another place with some kind of windows to enjoy... or may be a deal breaker for us as well.

We enjoy sitting in the Sky Lounge to read and play cards, and see outside. Is there some kind of comparable place on Edge class ships? Where do they hold Trivia and things like that on the Edge class ships?

We’re on Solstice with premium wifi and it’s the worst we’ve experienced in a long time. Connect… disconnected… all day long. Now, it’s possible this is due to it being Thanksgiving week and packed with families and kids… and since we never sail during these busy times I have nothing to compare to.

Will be interested to see if the Pacific Coastal repos to/from Alaska are included in this group of releases... and where will the east coast to Quebec cruises be included?

Wonder how they handle embarkation...? People have to drop luggage at berth 93 and bus over to the ship? Sounds like a giant hassle. Looked on Goggle Maps and it's 2.5 miles, so probably not walkable.

Not to worry… Future Cruise people will be there for you to book onboard… $100 deposit and some obc are great benefits!

Well, I did all of those things on our Eclipse Alaska cruise last month, including flying Air Canada where everyone was masked. Still tested positive 2 days after getting home. Am I sure that I got it onboard? Of course not… but there were many, many people crammed together everywhere. Will continue masking on our Nov cruise and hope for the best.

Recently back from Alaska cruise with single rate from a sale… three of us had solo cabins and all got double points. One had to call to get them, but that’s not out of the ordinary. No issues when calling… points posted within a few days.

True... got off Eclipse a week ago and those are the only outlets except the shaver plug in the bathroom.

We used OnPoint a couple weeks ago... the rep said mine was negative as soon as the control line was filled in... lol... maybe 5 minutes start to finish.

Just got off Eclipse last week and can verify that there are only 2 US plugs and 1 2 prong European at the desk... no other plugs except the shaver plug in the bathroom... no USB in my C1 cabin. I also take a 2 prong european adapter that has 2 US plug availability.

I have found that calling Celebrity directly and waiting for hours on the phone is considerably better than sending anything via email, no matter the subject. Also agree that screen shots are always the best backup whenever you do anything on the website. I have a desktop folder with all of them by trip... lol
