  1. The OP was asking for informtion on the dress code and the two photos contained information that in my experience Celebrity passengers are following in their wardrobe choices. . It seems you are stressed about feeling comforatable on Celebrity and your posts are reflecting .that fear. You will feel comforatable wearing the same type wardrobe on Celebrity as on Royal Caribbean except for shorts at dinner. It would not bother me at all if dress shorts were a choice at dinner in the MDR or Blu or if you showed up in shorts. If you wear shorts and they turn you away though you might feel uncomfortable. I am told that some MDR hosts do turn away passengers with shorts but I can't verify that as I never observed that happening. Other than the first night I never recall seeing anyone in shorts at dinner.on Celebrity which is unlike what I have seen on Royal Caribbean where a lot of passengers wear shorts at dinner in the MDR. Celebrity has definetly relaxed their dress code but not as much as Royal Caribbean has done. You may want to take that into consideration in picking you wardrobe.
  2. OP is doing their first Celebrity cruise and was wondering about the dress code. About shorts at dinner. They may have cruised on other cruise lines. The replies were respectful and informational. about Celebrity. Yours was not. I see from your signature that you have mostly cruised on Royal Caribbean. What happens on Royal Caribbean is not the same as on Celebrity. On Royal Caribbean there are a lot of shorts at dinner. On Celebrity there are not. I don't tell anyone what they can or can not wear. I was stating a fact. I leave it up to the cruise line to enforce or not enforce their dress code. I don't know if Celebrity is enforcing no shorts or not or passengers are just complying on Celebrity but I know what I have seen passengers wearing.
  3. Having a bad day? This was a civilized thread until you came along.
  4. Eight hours is not a short time window. You have plenty of time. From Crown Bay Meagan’s would work fine and there are chair rentals there. If you don’t mind a beach with no chairs Brewers will work for you. That’s what local feel means. The locals have their own chairs and coolers to bring to the beach. Make sure you arrange for a return taxi!
  5. If she is not convinced by the document she descibes and by what the Celebrity rep saying it is fine why would she want to be convinced by random strangers on the internet. Simple solution if he has time is to get a passport.
  6. Why are you not convinced? What more would you expect? Have him get a passport then no worry.
  7. Read the FAQ link in post #4. They specifically call out designer jeans as being part of the dress code on Evening Chic evenings. I think dark wash jeans would be in that category. Your description of with dress shirt and nice belt and shoes sounds exactly like what they ask.
  8. Lindquist Beach is the one I would do as a ship excursion if Celebrity still offers it. They did not name the beach, it was some generic description. It included chairs. It is near Sapphire. There is Coki Beach which has very good snorkeling but I advise skipping unless you want to snorkel or scuba. The vendors there are obnoxious and it was not all that clean. St. John has several great beaches.
  9. I wouild not usually take a ship excursion to the beach because often I feel like leaving earlier or later than the excursion times. If a rain storm comes in I might not want to stay. Or I might get bored. If it is really nice I may not want to leave. Maegans Bay been a few times and I would never do as a ship excursion. There was another beach there though where the beach was not crowded, the excursion operator provided chairs and beverages because no beach bar. I would do that agian as a ship excursion.
  10. The dress suggestion is on the website. But it is fair to ask if what is on the website is reality. Slacks and no shorts is the safest way to dress every night. They do cut some slack the first night. There are no formal evenings, there is evening chic. On evening chic evenings both dressy casual and more formal wear fit in.
  11. January is not a particularly rainy month in Bermuda. Like anywhere Bahamas included it can rain. If it rains it usually is a quick down pour. I pack a cheap plastic poncho ad a small cheap umbrella but have rarely used thme. My motto is if I pack them I probably won't need either but if I don't I might be caught short. The air temperatures are on the cool side. It won't be beach weather. Air temp in the 60's so pack a jacket and sweater. Given that you might need a jacket in the morning but might not want to wear it in the afternoon at that time of year I would have a daypack to store a sweater and stuff.
  12. That is the safest course but leaving Manhattan and Bayonne I don’t turn on airplane mode until getting to the entrance to New York Harbor. The ship is not at sea within the harbor. Cruising out of Baltimore it is hours to the Atlantic ocean so I turned on Airplane Mode before I went to bed.
  13. Back in those days passengers were not as savvy about Airplane Mode, data roaming and roaming charges. There are still a lot of confused people. Many did not understand or know what they needed to do when leaving the US. Then they got home and got the bill. So they would claim they had turned off roaming to get out of their mistake. I believe though that the cruise lines did not sufficiantly warn passengers and usually the persons carrier would forgive the charges. This was not just on Carnival by the way. It did happened on Royal too.
  14. Research is fine 😀 but your ship was beyond the US territorial limit if Cellular at Sea was on.
  15. US territorial waters are 12 nautical miles. 1 nautical mile equals about 1.15 mile. They can’t turn it on before reaching that. I have read that Cellular at Sea uses GPS to automatically turn on at distance. Probably not easy for passengers onboard to determine that distance. I don’t wait long after leaving the port to turn on Airplane Mode because I found with everything going on I could forget. Can’t go by still getting your US carrier signal because they have no limit.
  16. Of course you can. The ship has to be at least 12 miles from land to have their cell service on. They can't have it on in port. They don't have a license for it in the US and there would be the chance non passengers would connect.
  17. The above played on my Mac. However it does not play on my iPad. I don't have a player for Windows Media Files and don't intend to get one. I could not play the file in post 1. I suggest YouTube.
  18. Serenade is doing a 274 day World Cruise which is not for the average person. That is why they are adding the laundry rooms. It has nothing to do about what you desire. Royal Caribbean has concluded that people who would book the cruise will desire laundry rooms. Certainly they are not going to the expense, taking up space, adding plumbing and machines, adding an amenity that they have not had on any of their ships for no good reason.
  19. There are a bunch of different performances fabrics. I have been buying Prana with Stretch Zion Fabric. I prefer their Brion style. Another brand is Kuhn that has some similar fabrics. They are very good for travel. They sell them at REI and Dicks Sporting goods.
  20. If you cruised solo and paid a single supplement you should get double points. Sometimes I have had to call Captains Club to get those added. About 25% of the time they were not added until I called and had them correct my points for a sailing.
  21. I need one more cruise for free laundry on Princess but I won't book a cruise to just move up to Elite in their Captains Circle.
  22. If I think items are going to be sent to the laundry I pack items near end of life. I do have travel underwear now that is made to be hand washed and drys fast. Same with my pants. I pack performence pants that can be hand washed and they drys in a few hours and does not need ironing. Pole shirts and tshirts 60/40 fabric from Eddie Baur wash and hang up drys unwrinkled. I have a future goal of gettting my luggage on a cruise down to a carry on.
  23. It has worked fine on all the Princess ships I have been on. They have had them long term. Never had to wait for a washer or dryer. Also Azamara, Oceania and QM 2 which I have been on have laundry rooms but I never used them on those.
  24. I only utilize the free bag for underwear and t shirts after several ruined shirts. Packing for 13 days would mean too much luggage for me. I don't like lugging around luggage overseas. For cruises out of Florida I have booked hotels with laundry machines but never had a hotel in Europe with machines. I have switched to both travel pants and shirts and travel underwear that could be washed in the sink and don't need ironing so in the future a laundry room probably won't be decisive.
  25. I often have done 10 or 11 day cruises in Europe with pre and post cruises stays. So while I did not desire to do laundry I did do laundry. I also booked Princess for those combined cruises/land instead of other cruise lines because Princess has laundry rooms.
