Bermuda making change to vaccine and testing

RCI is not looney enough to go to Bermuda in the winter. At least not yet. -
Bermuda making change to vaccine and testing

You won't be out on the deck enjoying the pool. It would be great weather in Bermuda if you golf. Not beach weather at all and all the in in season tourist business's will be closed. -
Port space at the Manhatten cruise terminal is limited. That is why cruise terminals were opened in Brooklyn and Bayonne.

My personal opinion is snorkeling from a boat is better in Bermuda but there are couple of beaches with decent snorkeling. Tobacco Bay and Church Bay with Church Bay being better. Don't know when your trip is but I read that the recent storm damaged the stairs down to Church Bay and washed away some sand.

Scott preparing compromise for cruise lines on Covid-19 tests
Charles4515 replied to CleverUserNameHere's topic in Bermuda
Testing has been dropped starting October 25. No decision on the fee. https://www.royalgazette.com/health/news/article/20220929/ta-form-to-be-phased-out-but-no-decision-on-fee/ -
Transatlantic cruises are usually great bargains for cruise passengers so ironic that you accuse Celebrity of penny pinching. Funny I have always wanted to visit Lisbon! But I will take your word for it. Charleston is a great port, visited it twice on cruises but the city does not really want more cruise calls. Below is from an article this summer. "Charleston officials are applauding the state’s decision, citing a large number of cruise departures throughout the year. In addition to limiting cruise departures, the South Carolina Ports Authority is limiting ships to no more than 104 visits per year and no ship can hold more than 3,500 passengers. Charleston’s mayor says eliminating these departures will allow the city to redevelop the Union Pier Terminal and open up more opportunities for city growth and vitality."

"From October 25, the requirement for pre-arrival and pre-departure testing, arrival testing, and day-four testing for travellers will be dropped. The requirement for unvaccinated visitors to provide proof of health insurance which covers Covid medical expenses will remain." https://www.royalgazette.com/health/news/article/20220929/ta-form-to-be-phased-out-but-no-decision-on-fee/

Bermuda travel authorization

Todays news is that the TA form will be phased out but no decision on the fee. As some suspect they may keep the fee somehow. https://www.royalgazette.com/health/news/article/20220929/ta-form-to-be-phased-out-but-no-decision-on-fee/ -

Bermuda travel authorization
Charles4515 replied to puggylicious's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There are changes being announced Friday. I suspect though they might only affect transatlantics. Or they may drop requiring their own residents from the TA. It is not popular in Bermuda and there are political stirrings... They anounced that the state of emergency is ending November 1. Not really understanding how they picked November 1. -
There are changes coming to be announced this Friday by the Bermuda governement. It seems like the Transatlantic testing will be changed.

Question re:West End Trolley Tour - Royal Naval Dockyard, Bermuda
Charles4515 replied to PennyNC's topic in Bermuda
The pier is in the Dockyard. The Dockyard is very walkable. There is a free tram that goes around the Dockyard that would be of use to mobility impaired passengers. The NCL West End Trolly tour from the description covers the Dockyard and part of Somerset. Various cruise lines do this tour. I have never done it or seen walk up times. The independent company that does them is the Bermuda Train Company. Their contact number is on their website. Link below. https://www.bermudatrain.com/dockyard-tour -
It is about 15 miles from the Dockyard to Hamilton. A taxi would be about $50. There would be a 25% surcharge on Sunday or a holiday or after midnight.

I took the NCL Breakaway out of New York one December to the Bahamas. They were not looney enough to go to Bermuda. I say looney because I don't think the sea days out in the open Atlantic or the port days will be pool days, it will be brisk in February. Probably windy. It will be in the 60's in Bermuda, great golf and touring weather.. All that said while were wearing parkas the first day out of New York there were kids in the pool. Kids and do what we can not

Right now It is tracking 100 miles to the northwest so hopefully they will only get tropical force winds.

But there is no reason for Celebrity to cancel the sailing (Oct 15) that most are whining about. No testing required onboard. Celebrity/Royal have a contract with Bermuda and they have been sailing to Bermuda all summer. They are not going to cancel because of some people are cheap. Despite the disclaimers the whining is about the $40.
-
I just looked at your itinerary and I suspect that this is will be much ado about nothing for you. Bermuda is on day 8 so it will probably be canceled like the other NCL transatlantics unless Bermuda drops their testing requirement.

The ship is still in Bermuda if you don't get off. Your choice. Not getting off in beautiful Bermuda makes no sense but it takes all kinds.....

There was a long thread recently on the subject and none reported being on an independent tour and missing the ship. The pier runners were not coming back from indepndent tours. But you are entitled to live the fear and keep taking the cattle tours. I will stick to private tours like where 4 of us get to see the Hermitage and see what we want to see while the cruise line excursion has 30 people wearing wireless headphones chasing the tour guide and trying to keep up with her. I will stick with quality. You probably would be one of those who pays the cruise line in Bermuda $150 to get to Horseshoe Bay which is a $32 taxi ride because you imagine it safer.
