  1. Bermuda weather is pleasant in October.Air temp is 75F to 80F. .
  2. It usually comes out mid to late April.
  3. It is the overall number of passengers that count. So 1-4 passengers is $50 a hour. 5-7 passengers is $70 an hour. Plus tip. There is a 25% surcharge on Sundays and Holidays for 1-4 and a 75% surcharge on Sundays and holidays for 5-7. They have not changed the fare yet but increases are coming possibly later this year.
  4. Maybe it was with pedal assist e bikes. Here is another company. https://shop.socialcyclesbda.com/copy-of-fee-rental-bike-ebike.html
  5. I believe you can only use pedal bikes on the Railway Trail. No motorized vehicles. You can book a pedal bike tour at the Island Tour Centre. https://www.islandtourcentre.com/land-based-tours/bermuda-railway-by-bike/ I believe the Oceania tour is around Harrington sound. That was offered that on the Oceania cruise I took a few years ago that docked at St. George’s and Hamilton. I think the local operator is Pedego https://pedegoelectricbikes.com/dealers/bermud You might contact them directly for a tour. It is possible though that Oceania has all the bikes booked.
  6. That reply was to Shippy. about stopping normal activiries. As to the rest of your post it it mainly fear mongering. Very prevalent on these boards. OP does need travel insurance for sure, but they are not going to go blind unless they ignore their symptoms or go to a bad eye surgeon. That would go for anyone. Anyone who is very near sighted is at risk of a retinal detachment. Do you think travel insurence considers myopia a pre existing condition for insurance? It is a condition.
  7. They were informed there was a risk because they had one. You are in effect advising them to never cruise again or travel again because there is a risk of something happening that may never happen. They inform of the risk so people know to see a medical professionals right away if there are symptoms. Not to stop them from normal activities. If you are at risk all you can do is be alert for symptoms.
  8. OP does not have a pre existing condition. They have a risk factor.
  9. OP has no condition. People who are very nearsighted have a higher chance of retinal detachment than the general population. If there is a detachment in one eye then a person has a higher possibility of detachment than the general population. They tell patients that so they can be alert for symptoms. They are informing them of the risk factor. People lose their eyesight because they ignore or procrastinate when there are symptoms. OP does not have to stop cruising or change their lifestyle. They don’t have a disease.
  10. That will depend on what tech they implement. Some digital fare systems use tap (NFC) which does not require internet. It would be smart of them to use that because tap credit cards would work. Worked well on the DC metro and London Tube. Where I live now I have to buy a pass on the transit systems app, activate it, and show to bus driver. So when I have had internet issues I was out of luck theoretically. However I discovered that the drivers here only pretend to look because they can’t really see it on the phone or be bothered so if I flash the phone that’s good enough. 🤷‍♂️ The way In read it they will have some type of hybrid system where you can use a smart phone or where you can get a paper ticket or pass that would be scanned.
  11. It is not pre existing and it might never happen. What you need to do is watch for symptoms. If there is a detachment you will be scheduled for surgery but it could be a few days. So you won’t be airlifted. I advise calling your doctor, flying back but avoid having anything done in away from home because there are different procedures depending on the detachment. With some of them, oil bubble you can’t fly.
  12. There are a number of registries of US citizenship. OP had a US passport. Unfortunately they didn’t bring it. So they could have looked that up. How did you get the figure that there were 380 million of us? Yep, the US census registers all 380 million of us. Again unfortunately a particular document was required. Being on a registry or database was not sufficient. Maybe some day it will be…..
  13. I think a 12 or 13 year old would still be charged the adult price even if they ordered from a kids menu.
  14. As of today a single ride is $4.50 for an adult if you buy tokens or $5 cash. There are also single day and multiple day passes available. To use a credit card you have to buy tokens or a pass at the Visitor Information Centre at the Dockyard or at the bus terminal or ferry terminal in Hamilton. It has been announced that there will be a digital fare system in May. How that will work and what the fares will be are vague at the moment but initially it appears you will be able to use a smartphone to pay fares. . https://www.royalgazette.com/transport/news/article/20240222/digital-fares-for-public-transport-coming-in-may/ https://www.gotobermuda.com/sites/default/files/2022-06/summer_ferry_schedule_2022.pdf https://www.gov.bm/sites/default/files/Bus_Schedule_EFFECTIVE_31January2022.pdf
  15. I wonder if this strategy has been discussed with Grandma. It is pretty tacky and uncouth. I feel sorry for the family.
  16. Under no obligation but do you think if someone missed the ship the port agent would not give any help? Obviously in BallFour4s scenario the cruise line had time to make it happen and happen fast. Missing the ship I expect would take more time with or without a passport. Passengers who miss the ship who only have a birth certificate have managed to fly back. Since most cruise lines allow passengers to cruise on closed loop cruises without a passport I am guessing they do provide some help if passengers miss the ship.
  17. They age pretty well. My 2018 iPad Pro that I bought in 2018 works fine too.
  18. There are many sales on Amazon and matched by other sellers currently. It is anticipated that updated iPads will be released in March.
  19. That is interesting. I didn’t know that history. Possibly they will pass on his name to one of the new ferries. I notice the new ferries will be larger than the ferries they are replacing. 500 versus 300 capacity.
  20. FYI. https://www.royalgazette.com/transport/news/article/20240222/digital-fares-for-public-transport-coming-in-may/
  21. NCL is still running their free ferry to St. George from the Dockyard. . It ran this past Sunday, February 18, 2024.. I saw it on the Bermuda Port Webcam.
  22. There are two distinct ship berths now. NCL uses both of the berths, the older berth is Kings Wharf and the newer berth is Heritage Wharf. Some cruise lines will call the whole port at Royal Naval Dockyard “Kings Wharf” which goes back to when there was only one docking area. Heritage Wharf was added on. Can be somewhat confusing. Joy will be docked at Heritage Wharf. The view from the side facing the Dockyard is not the same at Heritage Wharf as from Kings Wharf.
  23. There are two berths at the Royal Naval Dockyard on the west end of Bermuda. Joy will be docked at Heritage Wharf which is the westernmost berth. One side of the ship will have views of the Dockyard and the other side will have what I will call a bay view. There is ocean and land. Ships can dock either way depending on operational needs so you can’t choose your view.
  24. That 70F is the average high temp at the end of March. That means it might be 70 for an hour or two mid day. If you are lucky Expect temps in the mid 60s unless there is warmer weather than usual. Also windy weather that time of year. Water temp will be chill. Beach season begins end of May. Cruising out to Bermuda and back can be brisk and windy.
  25. The condo building I used to live in had 25 floors but no13th floor.
