  1. Sorry I caused the order to change by upvoting several posts to test what effect it would have. The votes do re-sort the order 🙄. Should reverse my upvotes, it lets me do that and change the order back? 😆 I don’t think 💭 I am a fan of this format that is being tested.
  2. You would think. You were the one who posted about people saying they were using Global Entry without a birth certificate. I don’t know what you were thinking. The expiration dates don’t coincide so I could see someone might have the card and not a valid passport.n
  3. Several of us, @sparks1093 most persistantly over the years, have posted that info but the doomsayers won't accept it.
  4. I woud not be surprised. All our comments are off topic and probably against the rules.
  5. The EDL is intended for people along the Canadian border who travel back and forth over the border regularly. And you can't fly with international with it. If you have one great but I don't see the point in spending extra for one.if you don't drive often over the border. You could not use it instead of a passport to travel by cruise to Martinique.
  6. People google for research and see the requirements for flying in to a destination. The requirements for cruise passengers are usually different than flying to a destination in the Caribbean.
  7. A new person might give the upvoted answers more weight. However I found on other websites that have something similer the upvoting was not useful. The upvoted answe could be complete nonsense. Seems redundant since the board already has likes.
  8. Not sure they were casting judgement. It seemed like it was more like they had no clue and were asking a question.
  9. My initial opinion is that it seems like it could be a good format for ansering questions. This board has turned into a general discussion forum when I believe the intent was for it to be answering specific questions.
  10. To each their own. I would be miserable if I disconnected. I also love to keep up on current events. I have been taking photos since I was a teenager so am not going to stop. I do keep a journal but it is now an app on my phone and the journal adds photos that I took. I like things easier and having a smartphone on a cruise to check activities, menus and my folio saves a lot of time. I realize a lot of people have problems with tech in their later years but they should not tout their problems as a good thing.
  11. I have an expensive iPhone too but I don’t do that because it is also my camera, both stills and video. When I started cruising I took an expensive DSLR and a video camera. Later I took pocket cameras when they got better. Now I have a camera, my iPhone which does it all and makes it easy to share photos and videos. I can edit both my photos and videos on the phone. Wheh I figure in the price I used to pay for photography, video and editing equipment the iPhone is a bargain. Try and make memories with a flip phone. No can do. My BIL has one of those inexpensive smartphones and all he does is complain about how slow it is and how the photos don’t look as good as the ones I take.
  12. I pay about $17 for 12 oz from a local roaster. Most of my beans are ordered online from Coava in Portland Oregon. The ones I order are $17.50 Brazilian which is one of their less expensive varieties for 11 oz bags but we reduce the cost by ordering in bulk and splitting 3 ways among family members. Have to have fresh beans as I am making espresso drinks. I use 18 oz per cup.
  13. Another place to get good coffee beans in Costa Rica is a local supermarket there.
  14. Amazon is full of fakes! One of the last plces I would trust. I would look online for a specialty roaster.
  15. You need to have the discount added at time of booking. After that you can be screwed. I use a TA and when I get a quote I make sure she got the discount. I don’t book direct but if the online quote did not show the discount I would call.
  16. Passengers have to have a birth certificate with a Real ID license. Some people are confusing EDL with Real ID. As far as Global Entry without a birth certificate it might work theoretically, you can use to cross the Canadian border by car but I would not test that out on a cruise.
  17. Yellow Fever vaccination isn’t a requirement for entry to the US. It isn’t a requirement to enter the US from an at risk country. I have been to countries where it is recommended by the CDC to get Yellow Fever vaccination but I didn’t. Columbia, Panama etc. They don’t quarantine you if don’t get vaccinated. I understand what you are saying, if I was traveling to Australia an at risk country I would have to be vaccinated to not be quarantined.
  18. Labadee ( Haiti) does not have hot spots.
  19. That is sometimes the case big I have received the balcony discount often. As someone else posted Royal Caribbean is known to have the best loyalty program. I have cruised a bunch of lines and have not found one better.
  20. The US State Department makes recommendations but they are not much value for cruises. They are general like they expect travelers are going to the most undeveloped region of every country. Have to do your own research. The only vaccination I have that they recommend is Hep A because sanitary standards in many countries are poor. At some major beaches I have seen sewage pipes nearby.
  21. The ice cream served in the buffet is much better so not much reason to bother with the Gelato.
  22. Thank you all who complained. Now let us get on with getting smoking out of the casino! 😅.
  23. The water taxi runs in the morning. The crew uses it to move some supplies from the ship to the food area near Columbus Cove. If the water taxi is still running there will be a sign on the dock for the taxi.
  24. Columbus Cove is the best. No rocks and some shade. Pretty much soft sand on beach and water bottom. It is farthest from the docks but you can take the tram if you don’t want to walk. Nellies is okay. Adrenaline should be avoided because of the sun and rocks. Passengers end up there because it is closest to the docks and also the beach attendants steer them there.
