  1. Check in time is when you can arrive at the terminal and boarding time is when they let you on the ship. To give you an idea of how this works. I will arrive at the terminal next week at 10am, but the ship will not be anywhere near ready to let me on. I will be security scanned, checked in at the desk to make sure everything is in order and then guided to a large seating area just like in an airline terminal and sorted by boarding zone. There we sit and wait until they are cleared to start boarding. When boarding starts you will be called by boarding priority and zone. If you show up after boarding has started, you get to just board after you check in, but sometimes that can be very late. If the ship has an issue we have seen people boarded as late as 4pm and many of them sat in that seating are all day.
  2. My wish would be that they do not add any more cabins. The Pride is perfect just like she is and is hands down my favorite ship. Don't change anything, just repair anything broken.
  3. On the Pride in ten days. I remember that those kiosks would break bills. Anyone know if I can break 100's in that? Wondering if I need to find time to handle that before I go.
  4. I check cruise prices every day and the deals I see in January and February for mid-week last minute cruises are insane. Just have to be able to drop everything and cruise day after tomorrow and be close enough to port to do it.
  5. When the kids are out of school is just a bad time to cruise. The kids do not bother me, but the prices do. Carnival knows when people start breaks and the prices hike accordingly. I never cruise in the summer for two reasons, price and heat. The Caribbean is perfect in January and February. I would still make an exception for summer if the price was right though. We are on the Pride in 11 days. Unfortunately, both a sold-out ship and a pricey cruise due to the date, but every once in a while, we make an exception due to schedule.
  6. Yes, I was wrong, thought that was in the rear under the MDR. Hard to keep all the ships straight.
  7. The only semi accurate info I have ever found before boarding a ship is watching Youtube videos of people on the cruises in the weeks prior. Even that can change completely in just one cruise.
  8. I was not impressed at 30 a person, really do not think it is worth 42. I can get a pretty great meal on land for 42 a person.
  9. The Carnival plan allows calls on Whatsapp.
  10. I was on most of them 20 years ago. I wish I had recorded and stored video of the ships better back then. I do have the cruise video of the Pride from 2014 that they used to sell. I miss those videos. I bought one for every cruise.
  11. I love the Pride. Although getting old, she is still my favorite ship. She has the most square footage of public space per passenger in the fleet which means that waiting in line for most things is greatly reduced. I personally feel that the classical art on the ship also effects people's behavior a little. Don't get me wrong, it is still a Carnival crowd, but they seem to behave a little better on the Pride. Check out the Piano bar on the Pride. Most Carnival ships just carve out some space for a Piano bar. The Dream practically has it in a hallway, but on the Pride, it is atop this sweeping staircase. The Pride also has a wonderful serenity deck for adults. Facing out the rear of the ship, right behind the buffet area and having its own bar and covered seating area. Very large main theater and rear theater. Another feature I love about the Pride is the shaded area around the pool for sitting. I miss that on the Carnival ships that do not have it.
  12. I would spend time in the casino if it were smoke free. As is, I just cannot be there. I will be sick for a day.
  13. FTTF is being sent to a priority lounge? This was not the case pre covid in my experience in Port Canaveral, Miami or Tampa.
  14. This is the problem with legalization. Smoking it in your home is fine. Smoking it in public is unacceptable and if users do not chill, they are going to get a backlash and prevent their legalization from occurring.
  15. I have it for our cruise in two weeks, but I ended up with the earliest boarding time, so I cannot test arriving early. Seems like a waste of money at this point, but my wife would like to keep it to be able to put carryon luggage in the room right away. Maybe I will make up a reason to need to speak to guest services when the line is longest so I can just walk by them all and get assistance.
  16. People all over Facebook keep confusing the need to have a Real ID to fly with getting on the ship. I saw three people yesterday tell someone they had to have a Real ID to board a cruise with a birth certificate.
  17. 1. Do you still check in 16 days before hand for diamond and 14 days before for those who are not? Yes 2. Do you get a specific boarding time and zone when you do your check in? (figure if this is the same we will just wait and do check in for both room at same time and whatever boarding zone we get we will all board together again). Yes, a 30 minute check in time window is assigned 3. If faster to the fun is pack, how does this play into all this? (Wondering if they should buy faster to the fun or not?) I know standard procedure before was they just called Wedding, Diamond, Platinum, and then Faster to the Fun - then general boarding by zones. Not sure if that is what they are doing now? Or is it all determined by your boarding pass, when you check in, and what zone you get on that. Yes, they will board just after you with FTTF, but I have not heard anyone report yet if FTTF still allows you to show up any time no matter what your check in time is post covid.
  18. I check YouTube every day for new videos on the Pride. There have been a couple of videos posted since she returned to Tampa in November.
  19. As far out as possible. Holiday cruises almost always sell out.
  20. Friend of mine did some type of tooth whitening on the ship some years back and said that the sensitivity and pain after the procedure ruined her cruise.
  21. The only thing I wanted to know is what he appears to be not telling anyone. How he fell. My guess is since he is keeping that to himself, that it was something really stupid like climbing somewhere he should not have. Maybe he will get stupid enough to sue and we get more info, but I bet he lets this die down and moves on after milking his 15 minutes of fame.
  22. I also just checked in for our nearest cruise and snagged the 10am check in time. Seems like FTTF is a waste at this point, but my wife would like to keep it for immediate room access upon boarding to drop off luggage if nothing else. Sure seems like a high price for just dropping off luggage and boarding the ship 10 minutes faster. I will try to catalog the benefit usage in my head on this cruise at least for next time.
  23. Hey, Jim Zim! Love your channel on ytube. That is great news to hear. I would love to see internet speeds increased on the older ships.
