  1. Carnival had a Health assessment form long before Covid. I expect that to continue. Probably a requirement from the port authority.
  2. We stayed in G3 on the Elation in 2019 and that has to be the best cabin we have ever had.
  3. Yes, it is gone for now. I check every day though for my booked cruises. it could return at any time now.
  4. This is going to be a total mess for anyone embarking on Saturday. The number of people here right now and arriving daily is slightly insane.
  5. They really need more steps in the program and consider boarding by all groups like Royal does.
  6. We spend almost nothing once we board a cruise ship. Sometimes I order a drink, but I seldom drink, I never hit the casino anymore due to smoke. I do give money to St Jude on each cruise. We have taken all the excursions that interest us over the years and no longer do any of those. Sometimes we get off and walk around a port, but I really cruise for the ships, not the ports. Now Carnival is going to try to talk you into spending that money. Casino, Bingo, Liquor, Specialty Restaurants, Souvenirs, pretty drinks in light up glasses carried through the dining room while you eat, Pictures taken of you all over the ship, Groove for St Jude charity event, Excursions, Spa Treatments, Purse and watch sales events, fake art.
  7. Only service dogs are allowed. That has just become a very loose term these days. They are not allowed to be off leash. I seriously would have taken his dog on a tour of the ship though and taken pictures everywhere with it. Me and the dog putt putt, me and the dog near the pool, running from the chefs at the steakhouse.
  8. This is just more evidence that the end of testing entirely is right around the corner. We just need one cruise line now to stop it and they all will.
  9. This was not a flash sale. This was the price of that cruise for the last 8 days. I have been checking it for weeks. Before that it was 65 for a week.
  10. This September 1st cruise was $50 yesterday for interior. I expected a raise in prices, but not ten times the price from yesterday. I guess carnival has some indication that they will fill this sailing and does not need to offer last minute discounts.
  11. Exactly, I was zero cruises booked two weeks ago and as of today I have four booked.
  12. Prices were rock bottom. This is what Carnival needs to stay afloat.
  13. Did you test negative in the last 72 hours? Yeah negative in the last 72 hours.
  14. Does not surprise me that Carnival passes this cost on to us. They have the slimmest profit margin of any cruise line. Happy that our fares are still low though. Much rather that cost be recouped on something like drinks instead of paying prices like on NCL where I am buying everyone's drinks.
  15. Banned, restricted, decided, warned by a physician not to get the vaccine, all semantics. They could not give Carnival their money and sail.
  16. Good morning, I am considering booking my first MSC cruise. Reading the cancellation policy, am I correct that the deposit I am paying now is refundable until the 75 day mark? Thanks
  17. This is why I think they stopped it. When they used to give you your card at check in, many people learned that Carnival was not willing to enforce the no access to your cabin until called. Lots of people just got onboard, walked past the sign and went right to their cabins and Carnival was trying to sell this benefit.
  18. Of course prices will go up and Carnival needs them to.
  19. 8 nights versus 5 nights! I do not care where it goes or even if it goes. 8 nights on a cruise versus 5 is always my choice.
  20. Of course they are. 33 percent of the population was banned from cruising and now are not. I have three cruises booked between now and Christmas and I booked them all the night of the announcement.
  21. No, I understand. Look at Parodeejay, sometimes they sugar coat trying to stay positive when you can tell this food or excursion was atrocious. Everyone is told to hype everything on YouTube and sometimes you can get an elevated sense of worth in a review that is not justified.
  22. You do not have to be vaccinated for sailing from any US port in January unless things change between now and then. Whether or not you can get off the ship in those ports is a changing situation, but by January I suspect there will be no restrictions on departing in any Caribbean port. Carnival is pleased to announce new guidelines effective for cruises departing on September 6, 2022 or later, which will make it easier for more guests to sail with simplified vaccination and testing guidelines, including no testing for vaccinated guests on sailings less than 16 nights, and eliminating the exemption request process for unvaccinated guests, who will only need to show a negative test result at embarkation. The new guidelines include: • Vaccinated guests must continue to provide evidence of their vaccination status prior to embarkation. Pre-cruise testing is no longer required, except for cruises to Canada, Bermuda, Greece and Australia (per local guidelines), and on voyages 16 nights or longer.• Unvaccinated guests are welcome to sail and are no longer required to apply for a vaccine exemption, except for cruises in Australia or on voyages 16 nights and longer.• Unvaccinated guests or those who do not provide proof of vaccination must present the results of a negative PCR or antigen test taken within three days of embarkation.• Guests under the age of five years are exempt from vaccination and testing requirements from the United States and under the age of 12 from Australia.• All policies are subject to local destination regulations.• Voyages 16 nights and longer will continue to have vaccination and testing requirements that are specific to the itinerary. For guests who have a pending vaccine exemption application and are awaiting confirmation for cruises departing September 6, 2022 or later, the booking is confirmed unless booked on a sailing that calls on Canada, Bermuda, Australia or if the voyage is 16 nights or longer.
  23. Booked on the Pride in December and I keep wondering if it is still the right choice with her age and all the Carnival cutbacks.
  24. Carnival is seriously on its last leg and non refundable deposits are helping limit those losses. I hope that the vaccination requirement ending means an upturn for them and the ability to stop offering steep discounts for cruises. I know we love those discounts, but Carnival has been hemorrhaging money for the last two quarters. Capacity for Q1 was 64% by the way, no matter what it looked like to cruisers. Half the people on those sailing at 64% capacity were paying near zero to be there due to deals. And before someone says Carnival is doing fine. Motley fool, August 3rd, Carnival's $1 billion capital infusion may not be enough if the company cannot stem its losses. In its second quarter of this fiscal year, Carnival lost $1.8 billion. That was better than the $2.8 billion it lost in the third quarter of fiscal 2021, when it resumed sailing -- but, again, the company doesn't expect occupancy levels to return to normal until 2023.
