  1. Everything closes down but the bars stay open..sounds right.........
  2. The way they test your fields.............is they come there with a large very large container of water.........They then go to your Septic tank and fill all those gallons of water into your tank. Say they do this at 5pm, they then come back the next day..lets say 9am............They then measure how many inches of water went down in your tank in those 21 hours..............They then calculate how many gallons of water drained through your leach field in the that time. They have a whole chart on how many gallons should have went down into your drain field in that amount of time..............This way they know or not if your leach field is working as it should. What they are hoping to see is the pipe going out to the leach field is able to be seen with no water over top that (pipe)opening , if they can see that pipe clearly, that means all the water they put in the day before was able to drain through your drain field...........if the pipe opening is still covered over with the water..........means your fields are working to slowly.
  3. You will surely want to find that cover and have someone inspect things if you are going to move there. Not sure where you are if you have freezing weather or not...............but always seems to be the time when most people have septic problems...............Ground is frozen solid, can't find the lid, snow covered over the leach field, pipes in the ground, waste water doesn't drain as well out of them because above the ground is covered in snow. Needs sunlight. If you aren't sure about where leach field and you still have a a lot of large trees around the area........Most likely you have lots of roots clogging up those leach field lines. Check in your basement or crawl space where the main sewer line leaves the house......Most likely the septic tank will be straight out from that adn the leach field will be stright out behind that in a lower part of the yard..............Remember everything runs out by gravity only.......Cause we all know ***** doesn't run up hill!
  4. Those pictures I posted of the leach field was at my parents house. Their house was also around 60 years old and did not meet up to the current codes for a 5 bedroom house, there was a crack in the septic tank and and what leach fields there were were not doing their job or even large enough for a 5 bedroom house. Code is for how many people you have living in the house, they have a standard of how much water each person uses per day. When I lived there as a child my Father added 5th bedroom in the basement. After we all left when we got older just my mom and Dad lived there, so septic was fine for them..........but then when they each passed we sold the house.........Septic system failed, so had to install the tank and larger leach fields to be able to sell the house. Like you said before, you were very lucky to find a buyer to buy as is with "CASH" I think the way loans are given out now YOU MUST have a sewer inspection pass for approval of the loan...........Well that is the way it is in the State of New Jersey.
  5. Here is what a leach field looks like. Black box you see in the hole is the distribution box which will have all those white pipes installed in the holes in the box you see. All the pipes will have the holes in the pipe facing down to drain out the grey water once installed in the pit. Septic tank is up near house, grey water pipe comes around the shed and down to the distribution box and then out to the leach field.
  6. Does this house have well water or city water? If well water, nothing like drinking your own $hitty water. If well water , I guess the new owner never had the water tested either? With that septic water only being 250 ft from the yard, I would assume sometimes when the wind blew the right way you could easily smell it by the house too.
  7. So for a shared side by side ranch, you had ONLY one septic tank, shared with 2 owners? If this is what you had you should have went to the casino the next day, put it this way you were really, really very LUCKY to ,sell a house like that..
  8. Maybe time to have the septic tank pumped. Do you know when the last time it was pumped. The solids may be very high in the tank. How old is this house? Pumping the tank would only be a temporary fix if the issue is the leach field though , see below. Another issue could be the leach field, after a while sometimes these leach fields need to be dug up and replaced. When the grey water leaves the septic tank it goes into these leach fields, there is a sand like material under the lines, after a long time the fields the grey water just doesn't filter down though the sand anymore. So water just lays in those pipes, so when you use water in the house and it drains out it has no where to go. Do you have a lot of large trees around the septic tank and and where the leach field is? Did the roto rooter guy take off the top cover on the septic tank and inspect anything? He should have looked to see where the sewer line comes out of the tank into the leach field? If he saw that pipe coming out of the tank to the field covered with water, then that means the leach fields are not taken the grey water run off well enough. If you are trying to sell this house and have a sewer inspection by the buyers, this will have to be corrected or money off for the new owners to make the repair if that is what is needed.
  9. Thanks well aware of that that is why we have our yard sprayed a lot during the spring, summer and fall. There really is no way around the deer roaming around in our yard and even the neighbors yards. Any plant growth around the houses here is game for the deer around here where we live in deer country. There would be no way of keeping the deer out of people's yards with out putting up high 8 to 10 ft fences. The deer can really leap around here too.
  10. Tonight , I'm sitting in one of the chairs around the fire pit. About 20 ft from the deer. They are not scared of me anymore since I have been feeding them. When they see me in the yard now they come running to see if I have any food out for them.
  11. Better get the fog horn going soon ,Celebrity Solstice is right behind you
  12. Welcome to CC Try asking here https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/463-greece-ports/
  13. Not very comforting with you in the co-pilot's seat if something should happen to the pilot. 😞 You will notice on Celebrity Millie the food will be much better then Royal. Much older ship you are going on, so it won't compare as far as things to do around the ship. I'm sure you are trying Celebrity and that ship because of the itinerary. Lunch as Chops sure looks good, If not on the UDP, lunch is less $$$ then dinner there right?
  14. Could change 10 times before April 2023, no rush in getting out your email.
  15. Nice review, after we have the cruise we have booked now with Royal. Our next cruise after that will surely be on Virgin Voyages. It's time for a change from Royal. Any Food pics and the hammock on the balcony, what category cabin did you have?
  16. @HBE4They sure have the Cat Bird's view of the back yard and mountains behind the house. The back yard slopes down compared to the front of the house. The front porch still has 6 steps to get into the main level where the front door is. Under the main level is a walk out basement under that sunroom where the cat trees are. We have our hot tub below the sunroom, but not under the floor of the sunroom, it's out about 3ft out so we can look over head of the hot tub and see the stars at night. No covering of any kind over the hot tub blocking our view.
  17. Figured this was a Kodak moment. So had to take this shot. The strangest thing made them all look at me at the same time. Eating a bunch of green grapes...go figure.
