  1. We just did a 15 day connoiseur cruisetour this year that started June 10th in Fairbanks for 2 nights. Will say very disappointed in the Princess Lodge as far as the food as we only had very limited buffet food. Told it was due to staff shortage. Also hit Mckinley Lodge for 1 night, Denali Lodge for 2 nights and Kenai Lodge for 3 nights. The Kenai Lodge had the best accommodations and definitely best food. Definitely need to do an excursion on the Kenai Peninsula. We boarded the ship on the 18th and would advise doing the land portion first so you can relax a little on the ship. The days can be hectic as luggage goes outside your door fairly early. This was our first trip with Princess and would highly reccomend. If you go too early in May the roads in Denali may still be snow covered and not open. We did also go to Alaska in Sept. 2019 which also had terrific weather.
  2. We were on the Royal in June and one of the first to board and the first thing I did was call to sign up for the Chefs Table and Winemakers Dinner. We were invited to both but opted to give the invite for the Winemakers Dinner back so someone else would have an opportunity to have a nice experience. This was our first time cruising with Princess and were excited to try the Chefs Table which was absolutely amazing.
  3. I also tip for room service as I look at as being above and beyond. Really, what is a coiple of bucks.
  4. So this happened because some idiot put something in the toilet that they should not have. This happened to us 2 days in a row on the Epic in February. NCL unclogged it and the next day it was clogged again. We actually did not get a thing. This is not the fault of NCL so I agree with the person who suggested something around 20%. Why is it always about " how much can I get from a company".
  5. We did 15 day Connoisseur tour in June and our last lodge was Kenai Princess and they tested us on Thursday and Friday before boarding the ship in Whittier on Saturday and yes you swab yourself. As for pre testing for land portion we had arrived in Alaska a few days prior to start of cruisetour and did proctored tests that Friday morning in Fairbanks before joinging the group on Saturday. Our tour director when we asked about him wanting to see the results was Princess told him he could not ask for them and it was an honor system that assumes you are negative. I am not sure if anyone in our group of 47 tested postitive as it seemed like we were all there when we got to Whittier. Have no idea how many were positive on our ship, just know we had a great time and never tested positive even after getting home.
  6. I just got off the Royal and definitely not enforced. Saw 1 elevator empty out with 12 people and 6 were not wearing masks. There are signs in the elevator that say limit 6 and masks required. I actually asked a few people at different times that were getting in to please put on their masks and they did. I was sitting at a bar and a server asked a couple to put theirs on as they walked by and the response was I have a drink in my hand. I am happy to say as of today I do not have Covid which is a good thing as we started this vacation from the east coast on June 8th and returned on Sunday the 26th so feel very fortunate. Had a terrific time.
  7. I totally agree with @Hogladyriderand as we all keep saying you have a great way with words and pictures and would have quite a following. I look up everything on You Tube, heck I just made a quilt following a channel and then learned how to print a quilt label on my inkjet printer. Who knew there was such a thing.
  8. Great pictures, so glad @Hogladyridermentioned your review on another board. I had read a few of yours earlier this year and really enjoyed them. Just booked a B2B on the Dawn for next February so enjoy seeing pictures of her again as I had cruised back in January 2018 but came home to my nephew's tragic death and memories of that trip were quickly forgotten. Have a great time and look forward to what is to come.
  9. Great tour and pictures of Key West, have only visited twice by cruise ship and the last time was probably 15 years ago. It is listed as 1 of our ports on the cruise I just booked for February so hopefully will be there again. I did bookmark a couple of pages, margaritas, lobster roll and key lime pie for future reference.
  10. I did my first B2B this year and just booked another for February 2023, 11 days and then 7 days. I think BF got hooked, he won't do less than 14 now and his first cruise was Sept. 2019 to Alaska, then Covid derailed our plans till we did 7 day last October, then 14 in February and leave for Alaska next week. We loved the alone time in between cruises. Have fun this one. Great review.
  11. Just can't believe so much is closed down so early tonight, crazy!
  12. @sid_9169your conch looked amazing, what kind of sauce were the fritters in? You find the best unique out of the way places.
  13. Just read my email about this, bet it catches a lot of people off guard. I was surprised they were not already requiring it.
  14. I was just read that which makes sense but if everyone doesn't read their email thoroughly very easy to skim over it. Our cruisetour begins on the 10th although we don't meet everyone till breakfast on the 11th. We are arriving in Fairbanks on the 9th so will either have to do it that night when we get in or Friday morning. I had 2 proctored tests for our trip home so guess I need to get a couple more as we are staying overnight in Vancouver to get an early flight out the next day.. I think it should have been a separate email with the change as it could go unnoticed for many people.
  15. Looks like beautiful weather and definitely not cold. I will be there in 3 weeks hope the good weather continues.
  16. I love that feeling of getting unpacked and ready to go explore. That bathroom was very interesting with that big picture window if I saw it correctly.
  17. Looks like a great day to cruise away. You always make Miami look amazing with the street art, architecture and of course your food and drinks. Have a great day and look forward to reading more.
  18. Looking forward to your review. You really do have a way with words and would make a great travel writer.
  19. For some reason I thought you were doing NCL and kept looking there. Not till Hogladyrider said something about your post did I look. Looks like I have some catching up to do and you haven't even left yet. Have a blast, we leave in 2 weeks for our land portion and cruise on the 18th, cannot wait.
  20. @MudderBearyou are correct. It is on the Princess site that for people on land tours Princess will do the testing. We are also bringing proctored tests to do at the hotel as we fly out the next morning.
  21. So glad to see you are back, think I found your reviews prior to Covid and thoroughly enjoyed them. Had a number of cancelled cruises starting with March 2020 and got on the Breakaway last October doing Bermuda from NYC. Our favorite restauarant on the BA was Ocean Blue. Look forward to reading the rest of your review.
  22. We are on the Royal June 18th-25th but not flying home till the next morning as we are flying back to the east coast, would be nice if we could get it done the day of disembarkation. If not we will do in hotel room.
  23. I personally would not do it. I also broke a toe but the BF at the time had us go hiking that day it happened, well let me tell you, not good and I hiking boots on. That was on a Saturday, I did not go to orthopedic Dr till Monday afternoon and was in a boot for 8 weeks. It was on my right foot so I got to take it off to drive and stuff the foot in a sneaker, otherwise boot was on all the time I was awake.
