MargoK Posted November 25, 2017 #26 Share Posted November 25, 2017 The tender operation for Ovation in Auckland has become become very slick and efficient....at least it was last season .The tenders are almost operating as soon as the ship drops anchor. They are specially designed to handle large numbers and have double doors to speed up entry and exit. They have been landing at the new Wynyard Quarter in Auckland , beside the Events Centre ,They have an area set aside which can handle 3 or 4 tenders landing at once . BUT be aware there is NO SHELTER, so if it is a sunny day it will still be a long wait in the sun to get back onto the tender. Make sure you are hydrated, have sun screen and a hat. Aus Traveller Posted April 17, 2018 #29 Share Posted April 17, 2018 HY could you tell me witch ports of call need a tender to go ashore Thanks Your cruise brochure should indicate if ports on your cruise require a tender. Which ports are you calling at? If it is NZ, Akaroa and Bay of Islands are tender ports. Auckland can be a tender port for Ovation of the Seas. In very rare circumstances, Sydney can be a tender port.:D

Beanb41 Posted April 17, 2018 #31 Share Posted April 17, 2018 For New Zealand I think only the Bay of Islands and Akaroa are tender ports. For Australia Esperance, Airlie Beach and Cairns are Tender ports. Cairns is dependant upon the size of the ship and availability of berthing within the port
Rare MicCanberra Posted April 19, 2018 #32 Share Posted April 19, 2018 The south Pacific is full of tender ports, just like all over the world and just like there are ports where ships can dock, sometimes they tender anyway due to other ships. We would really need to have your itinerary, and dates.
