Why is there so little activity on this board

Most questions or experiences would apply to most people not just over 55.

Not sure what would be different for those over 55 that is not applicable to most cruisers

the only thing I know of is discounts on some lines on some cruises. Nothing else that I know of so not much to discuss.

I don't see any thing age specific on the ships. There are 65 year old taking kayak and scuba excursions and age is irrelevant to agility and state of mind/health. If one is fit, being 55 or 40 is all the same in terms of cruising IMO

In all the years I've come to CC, I've never onced looked in on this forum until now. Didn't there would be anything particularly relevant other than a discussion of whether U.S. Medicare pays medical bills outstide the country of something like that. That subject is discussed on other forums.

What exactly is relevant to over 55...that's not relevent to others? It's not like 55 is "over the hill"!

All throughout my life, I have joined groups, which were relevant to my current situation (teenager, pregnant, nursing mother, parent, school p & c, sports, etc.), to learn and grow.

Now I'm interested in what people over 55 have to say. It is just another stage of life, that is all. I browse every so often, because I might learn something, or I might even be able to contribute.

I come here from time to time to see what is going on. I check out some threads here and in other areas. If we could find a topic we are all interested in at the same time, we might get something started. I also check out my future cruise threads and sometimes other areas. Most of the places I am interested in, I have bookmarked and automaticly go there when I get the email. I do keep hoping there will be something going on here. And see you posted a question and we are all responding.:D

I keep forgetting to look here.....

I guess that why I don't look here to often and then when I do I can't remember what I was going to ask anyway. lol

We are leaving for our first cruise on 1/16/10 on Carnival going to the western Caribbean. We are just as excited about this as some of the younger ones that are going.:cool:

Having just entered the new category for most questionnaires, age group: 55-64, check, I have a lot of questions. What cruise lines GIVE discounts to over 55? Does that translate to onboard amenities or excursions? Do I have to let my hair go gray to fit aboard these ship? Will my discount apply to my bunk mate, even though they are not in this uber-special category? What really IS the best part of this age category?

Seems a huge number or cruisers are over 55 but I seldom see a lot of activity here.

I think that it is because most old people are not computer literate. Then there are those who dislike change. (That is the way their parents did it and that is how they are going to do it). I just gave my closest friend my old computer. It is his first one and he just turned 59.

The key word is "most". I just turned 65 and DW and I have cruised since 2005. I'm a self-employed computer specialist (lost my "regular" job in 1993 and finally gave up trying to find a new "regular" job) and find that there is a surprisingly large group of computer users in the 55+ category. If others are like me, they focus on the roll call threads and don't spend much time checking out the other threads. Fortunately, I found this thread and will periodically check it out!

I'm hoping to retire in a year or so. That's a mixed blessing in that I'll have a lot more time for cruising BUT not so much money to pay for it.
