There was a compulsory Guest Asembly Drill on June 3rd 2010 at 4pm in Barcelona:

Moll Adossat (Catalan name) or Muelle Adosado (Spanish name) is the name of the dock or quay in Barcelona port, where the biggest cruise ships dock in Barcelona. This is a new cruise ship terminal on a long quay in the old industrial port with room for 4 large cruise ships.

Here are some images of the area taken from AOS before the sail away on June 3, 2010:

The Sail Away Party started as we departed for our first port of call (Toulon, France) shortly after 5pm on June 3, 2010.

The Sail Away Celebration took place by the poolside on Deck 11 with live music, dancing and lots of drinks as we departed from Barcelona on the AOS:

Great photos! As we say in French, c'est comme si on y était !

Which means: It's as if you were there

N'est pas? : - ) Let's then go to dinner!

First night, we had to go for the very first time to dinner (casual) on the Main seating... starting at 6:30pm (but made sure we were on the Waiting list for Second Seating for the upcoming evenings!).

The waiters were great and food was good. The best part of the dinner were the people we met that night - a wonderful couple from Cambdridge, England (Dave and Denise). June 3rd was Dave's 75th Birthday and also Dave and Denise's 49th Anniversary!

Her are some dishes that may make you salivate like Pavlov's dog (or at least the description of the dish)! Bon Appétit !

BTW - Let me know if you wish to also see the menus posted here.

June3-2010_Dinner-Strauss5.jpg

Summer fruit medley (pineapple, papaya, mango, kiwi, strawberrylaced with coconut and pistachio yogurt)

Surf and turf (a Royal Caribbean signature dish - grilled shoulder filet served with pan-seared garlic shrimp, wasabi mashed potatoes, crip green beans and snow peas )

Filet of Atlantic Salmon (broiled fish filet served with Chef's choice vegetable)

Coconut Crème Brûlée

After the casual dinner on Day 1, we stopped by several evening activities around the ship (such as the "Majority Rules" game or "Name that tune") and also headed to the Lyric Theatre for the "Welcome Aboard Show:"

The Cruise Director, Mercedes Lafuente, addressed the audience in the Lyric Theatre (her assistant gave away a bottle of champagne to a couple in the audience)

The Welcome Aboard Show was also starring the Charlie Frye & Company

On June 3rd, we've seen the sunset after the early dinner and the "Welcome Aboard Show" (9:19pm) as we were heading towards France:

The photos from the Sail Away Parade (11:30pm, Day 1) were posted already, so FRANCE is our next stop... tomorrow ! : - )

On a second thought and in all fairness to RCI, the "WOW factor" probably came before this 4 nights cruise from Barcelona -

exactly one week before the sail away when they upgraded us for free from a Promenade mid ship cabin on floor 7 to a Junior Suite on floor 9, mid ship also.

Here is the description and "official" photos of a JS on AOTS:

Junior Suite with Balcony - Also referred to as Superior Ocean View Suite

Two twin beds (can convert into queen-size), private balcony, private bathroom with bathtub and a sitting area (some with sofa bed)

(277 sq. ft., balcony 69 sq. ft.)

Also includes minibar, vanity area, hair-dryer, TV, phone, computer jack, vanity table with an extendable working surface

for laptop computers and 110/220 electrical outlets.

Some have sofa beds and can accommodate 3-4 guests. Some can also accommodate a rollaway bed or Pack 'n Play.

That's fabulous - How did you manage to get an upgrade?

daliflor - stunning pictures - and yes please to the menus :D

May I also ask a question about your upgrade. Are you D+ members of Crown & Anchor and thus got the upgrade as part of their new commitment to upgrading loyal cruisers.

Food looks lovely, and yes, I would love to peek at the menus :-) Thanks Daliflor!

No, none of us were Diamond or even Platinum... merely Gold members as far as RCI C&A program... I must say LUCK was a determing factor on receiving the free upgrade to JS for this 4 nights cruise; therefore, I now call this the "WOW factor" that came pre-cruise (courtesy of RCI).

Great info Daliflor! Did you go to the Captains welcome aboard party? dutch

Yes, we did.

The Captain's Welcome Aboard Reception was held on the second day of our 4 nights cruise (formal night), after returning aboard in France (Toulon/ Seyne-sur-mer).

Captain RON HOLMES was at the Imperial Lounge on Deck 5, so guests had the chance to have their picture taken with him (from 8:30pm until 9pm).

Then, Captain Ron Holmes gave his welcome speech from the Royal Promenade Bridge at 9:05pm, Day 2.

It must be strange for Captain and his crew to be perched up there for all to gawk at. But it's good for photos! I see the male/female ratio for senior officers is just as bad on RCI than Carnival. Oh well, it's not a family-friendly environment for staff, I hope that's what explains a lot of it. Thanks again for sharing your photos Daliflor!

WOW those pictures are fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to post them. I'm excited about going on this ship now as we just booked. When I look at the pool pictures I feel like i need to shed a few pounds since you never know who is taking pictures and posting them on cruise critic. ;)

Seriously though the pool area looks like a mad house - are there more

tranquil areas to enjoy the sun or was it like that most of the cruise?

With 3,166 guests aboard, it was hard to find a quite place for sunbathing (beside the intimacy of your private balcony - if applicable).

There is a SOLARIUM on AOS that may seem bit quite (as by the main pools area lots of activities took place during our short 4 nights cruise, including the Sail Away Party pictured earlier) though pretty crowded too.
