C&A Changes - Positive!

Recommended Posts

Just got off the phone w/Charlene of C&A. Nothing is grandfathered. Applies to all bookings made 6/1/10 onward and date of next cruise redemption. If you book at home (not onboard) you will still be entiled to 2 discounts; savings cert w/diamond discount or with Diamond discount. The only way to take advantage of new discount policies on active bookings is to cancell and rebook but you forfeit all upgrades, possible room, etc.

That's not the way I read it. I wonder if she knows what she's talking about. Or I don't know how to read - which is a possibility.

They are going to need more help onboard booking cruises now. It's was bad enough before when you couldn't combine booking onboard OBC and Crown and Anchor Balcony Discounts.

Imagine how bad it will be now:eek:

On the Diamond Discounts there is only a $25 difference between booking prior to 6 months or over 6 months.........why make people confused, just keep it the same no matter when you book it.........Some things just make you want to shake your head and say why?

Jimbo:)

And when the price goes down after you've made final payment, it's going to go down by more than $25 total. So is the risk of gaining $25 worth it? Only if booking on board was your intention anyway because of a must have cabin.

Just booked a cruise, this past wow sale. Wasn' t plannning on getting the OBC that they were givingbecause I planned on calling and just getting my Balcony crown and anchor discount. Only paying the 50% deposit was nice too.

So if I call now and tell thm I want my Balcony discount taken off now will I keep my OBC on the reservation or should I just cancel and rebook on my next cruise or just cancel now and rebook incase a savings certificate becomes available so I can add that on so it shows them I booked June 1st or later, This is for a cruise in October of 2011.

To cancel and rebook now though is going to cost me another $250 right now.

Suggestions as to what I should do?

Jimbo:)

See Gina. I told you Diamond Plus would be happy. Is this everything we wanted? No. But I'm happy with the extra free Internet minutes and laundry. This is definitely a step in the right direction. Rumors do sometimes come true. ;)

We will still continue to get one coupon book per person, won't we? I hope it's not like the amenity and just one per cabin. I'm making the assumption that we will get two 45 minute credits of internet and two bags of laundry per cabin.

LOL....I think it's so funny. I'm SOOOOOO happy they didn't take away my privilege of visiting Juan Diego in the Concierge Lounge. Yippee!!!

As soon as I see some bargain last minute Tampa Radiance cruises, I'll book them (if I'm not already on another ship) Forget the useless to me on board booking credit - some things are priceless. :D

Correcting myself:

Ultimate Value Booklet

Gold

The onboard Ultimate Value Booklet features many offers including spa, casino and shopping, and we've added some new one's like a discount on a beverage, an Internet discount and a photo offer.

Platinum

In addition to offers on spa, casino and shopping, we've added some new one's like a discount on a beverage, an Internet discount and laundry/dry cleaning and photo offers.

Diamond

In addition to offers on spa, casino and shopping, we've added some new one's like 30 minutes of free Internet plus 20% off online packages, savings on laundry/dry cleaning/pressing and a free photo.

Diamond Plus

In addition to offers on spa, casino and shopping, we've added some new one's like 45 minutes of free Internet plus 20% off online packages, a free bag of laundry and a free photo.

Gina, I think your assumption is correct.

Maybe if more of us called and got different reps we could figure it out boy majority rules

Wouldn't it be easier just allowing so many drinks per day to be free for Diamond and Diamond+ cruisers anywhere on the ship? Just have what ever total you are allowed per day to be logged into your sea pass card. Once your alloted total is up for the day you are done for free drinks for the day.

That way the CL and DL would have plenty of room and it would never be over crowded on any cruise.

That way the people that just go in the CL for the free drinks could get them anywhere and not take up the space that the CL was intended for.

It's so simple to fix this problem.

Jimbo:)

I have had these same thoughts for a while too. I would enjoy my free glass of wine with dinner.

The info I have (from the RCI web site) says "savings for laundry" not free bag...where is your info from?

It's a copy/paste from their website in the C&A section. If I put the link here, my account could be accessed. You have to be signed in to get to the page.

I would hope this is the case. Not real interested in the internet but the laundry sure will be nice on B2B or longer cruises.

Platinum Benefits

Excellent job Radio! I'm actually very glad these new benefits coincide with what I learned and first posted.

I'm quite pleased with this. A partial combinability is back, the internet credit has been expanded (very good!), free photo is back, and upgrade possibility has been expanded to Diamonds.

Now, I just hope the feedback is positive here to let RCCL know that we appreciate the enhancements. For some reason, people love to complain, even when receiving something good!

Yes. . . I have noticed that.

Thanks for getting this thread started.

Nice to see this back. Although we do not usually take advantage of the free photo for ourselves we have picked up photos of table mates that are cruising for a special occasion and given it to them.

Just got a call from Mr. Goldstein regarding the new benefits. Short but sweet and no details but thanking us for our loyalty and telling us to look for more new benefits. Caller ID only said "800 Service" and thankfully I picked up. Of course, this was a recording but interesting...I have never had a call from RCI or C&A like this before.

Maybe Investor Relations isn't finished updating their website with the correction about being able to combine once again.:D

Interesting this is my "direct copy" form the new Diamond+ Value Book and it says "savings for laundry"... not free bag.....

"Enhancements to Your Ultimate Value Booklet

In addition to many of your favorite offers, we've added new savings, including: 45 minutes free internet plus 20% off internet packages, savings for laundry, dry cleaning, pressing, a free photo and more while onboard"

That is correct. The "free bag of laundry" is for Diamond+

This matches a benefit already in place on Celebrity.

Sounds like some nice additions to me, though I have to say it´s again not easy for me to access the new benefits:rolleyes:

Logging in on the US and the german site brought up nothing. The UK site finally would display at least the text with a gazillion of red "X" for missing pics:rolleyes:

Now I just hope the ships are all aware of the change and we´ll get the new coupons on Saturday;) I´m especially happy about the Internet minutes.

One little detail has me worried though - "Same member status as parent after 1st completed cruise"

I don´t want to be downgraded to Diamond again:mad:
