Now on Emerald Princess B2B

We are on Emerald Princess for week one of our 2 week cruise. This week we are doing the Western route and next week we'll be doing the Eastern. This is our first Princess cruise after many on RCCL. We have fallen in love with Princess! :) We are in an aft suite (A750) and it is great!

Last night was formal night, we skipped it and ordered room service (our first time skipping) and we were able to get anything we cared for that was on the menu, even the souffle (yummy!). It was a nice change for us. Our steward is Rodrigo and he is just wonderful and always so friendly. We have traditional first seating @6:00 and our waiter is Omar, also wonderful and very attentive.

We have not found anything that is not to our liking on this ship. It is hard not to compare the two lines after being on one so much, but as I said, we are very pleased with what Princess offers and will be staying with Princess rather than going back to RCCL. The two things that stand out as being different are the Muster Drill on Princess rocks! It is so civilized! :) No standing out in the hot sun wearing a life jacket and smelling a lot of other people's body odor! Woo Hoo! We attended Muster in Club Fusion and didn't have to put our life jacket on until the very end. A very welcomed change. The other thing we have noted is the drink Miami Vice is not as well known amongst the bartenders on Princess. That is certainly no big deal...I'll try to teach one of them ;) By the way, the way we are used to Miami Vices are 1/2 the glass is filled with Pina Colada and the other 1/2 is filled with strawberry daiquiri~here they like to mix everything up together and fill the glass...still yummy, just different.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask away. I'll be checking in every now and then. Oh, by the way...the $2.99 drinks after 8pm are offered every night for those that may be wondering ;)

Glad you're enjoying it! Very happy to hear it, actually. I have two scheduled cruises on the Emerald, and the last one I had on her was fantastic! The Miami Vice drink sounds interesting - looks like you taught them a new drink to prepare onboard.:D

my buddy went on a this ship 2 weeks ago with his family. A guy like him should never ever be allowed on a cruise ship or anywhere nice for that matter. he is the type of guy that doesnt get impressed with anything at all. As long as he is hanging with family he will be happy. Seriously, he could be on the lamest beach in the world and would be happy if he had family and friends.

i asked him what his highlight of the cruise was and he said eating dinner with family. Granted that is nice, if you get along with the fam, but i knew he wouldnt appreciate the trip..he called the ship a "mall/bar on the water".

We were on the Emerald for B2B cruises in 2009 and loved that ship. Thanks for letting us know how things are now!

I do have one question, but please don't put yourself out even one second to find the answer. Only if you are in the area on the back of the ship (and you might be, given your cabin number): 1.) Is the hot tub on Deck 17 (I think) designated just for teens? And, 2.) Is the water hot or luke warm?

We loved that area on the Emerald in 2009, and on the Ruby in 2010, but on the Crown in 2010 we saw a sign designating it as teens only, and the hot tub was in poor repair and not hot at all. I'm hoping we can expect better on the Emerald this Nov-Dec.

Thanks, and enjoy the cruise!

when we were on the Enchantment in November we didn't have to take our life jackets with us at all. One of the employees said that it started being done this way because the Captain if the Oasis pointed out that it made more sense for people to go straight to the muster stations than to go to their cabins to get the lifejackets, as would be the case in a real emergency. We were still outside but no jackets.

I look forward to hearing more about your Emerald trip, my DH and I will be on her this September. It will be our first Princess cruise.

If you are looking for a great after dinner drink try a Milky Way Martini at Crooners. A perfect way to follow up dinner and begin the night activities!! Glad your are enjoying both Princess and your cruise!!

We will be on the Emerald in October for a back-to-back in the Caribbean. Glad to hear you are having such a wonderful time. We just got off the Diamond Princess for a short cruise in Alaska and found that Churchill's Bar also had the $2.99 drinks each evening after 8:00PM. The bartender (Romel @ Churchill's) made a killer Long Island Iced tea!

Have to agree with you also on the Muster Drill. Our muster station was in the Casino one floor down from our cabin - very easy and no standing outside in the hot sun where you can't hear anything or see anything anyway! Wish the other cruise lines would follow along!!

How are you enjoying the International Cafe and Vines? We are very anxious to visit these two newer venues on board!

We will be sailing on the Emerald to celebrate another birthday. I was wondering if you were in a full suite? If not, how did you manage to have dinner from the dining room menu delivered to your room??

Also, we are booked in a room above Club Fusion. How late does the music / activity go on in this location??

What are the current movies playing on MUTS?

What drinks are offered for $2.99 at 8 PM?

Any other advice you could give us....most appreciated!

There is a hot tub on deck 15 and 16 aft. There is also a tiny little pool called "Oasis" ;)

I'm not sure if they are hot or warm as it's been so hot we've not gotten in yet, but will check and let you know.

All I have to go on is our previous experiences with Muster drills and I can honestly say Princess has RCCL beat in a heartbeat!

Bracket, we look forward to welcoming you on! :)

Raider, we are in a full suite and they allow one to order off the dinner menu even on formal nights.

MUTS has been "How to Train your Dragon" last night, we didn't watch it though. I'm not sure what's on tonight. Tomorrow is the Ghost Writer which we'll go to. MUTS is so neat! It's our first experience seeing anything like it! Popcorn and blankets :) I can even fall asleep if I'm sleepy;)

The cruise director is Tim. I don't know how long he'll be on though.

Thank you all for the yummy drink suggestions! It'll be great fun trying them!

Oh by the way, the hot tubs on decks 15 and 16 (I think that's where they are) are not for teens only.

I'll check in tomorrow after Rum Point!

By the way...you Princess people are really great and ever so friendly!

thanks!! Sounds like they are keeping up to date on the movies....love watching movies on a cruise and all the better if I can do it outside....with popcorn, no less!

I was hoping you were not going to say you had a full suite....I would love to have dinner on my balcony off the dining room menu but am booked in a mini and don't know if I would pay the extra charge for something that would just require getting dressed.

thanks for your quick repsonse. have fun on week 2!!

Nova - if you think about it, could you see if Isabella is working at Vines or Int'l cafe? She is my all-time favorite Princess employee. We had her on the Crown in 2008 and Emerald in 2009. I hope to have her again in September. As a bonus, find out how long she is going to be on the Emerald. :) Enjoy your cruise!

Cruise Raider, the mixed drinks on the $2.99 Power Hour menu are Long Island Iced Tea, Singapore Sling, and Pina Colada. They also have house spirits on the special (no wines), and four beers (Dos Equis, Becks, Miller Genuine Draft, and Miller Lite).

NoVa Mimi-

Thanks for the comments. Glad to hear you are enjoying yourself.

Wondering about the small pool on deck 17 - outside the kids area. Is this the pool reserved for toilet trained children (2 ft deep)? Are there chairs out in that area?

Thanks in advance. Enjoy your B2B. I'm so jealous!

Along with Ray (BracketCreep) and his lovely wife Karen, we also look forward to meeting you onboard.

We'll try not to ruin the second half of your b2b when we join you on Sunday. :p
Shhhhh! Ray!! We are all trying to forget your past cruise disasters/weather history. I am doing my darndest to change your luck this time; think I have the first half of the week pretty well taken care of, still trying to clear up the last half though. ;)

hi Nova MiMi!

So glad to hear you are having a wonderful time! We are trying to find out which nites are formal nites on the Western Caribbean cruise - would you let us know which days you had formal nites?

thanks!

Speaking of formal nights, are many dressing up?

You can book the ultimate balcony dinner... Don't have to change your clothes, although they do take your picture! Of course, it brings a tab of $50.00 pp, but from what I understand, it is a fabulous dinner, served to you course by course...

Hi Tami,

Hope you are enjoying your time on the Emerald. I will be sailing on August 1st with my husband. I am wondering how much it costs to rent a tux for formal night. If you have a minute and can check I would appreciate it.:)

Thanks a million!!
