andrzej5914 Posted October 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2010 If you booked a regular balcony room but got an upgrade to a suite, how many cruise credits do you get, the original 1 or the upgraded suite 2?
Rare BillOh Posted October 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2010 I've seen the question come up before and the answer was 2. No personal experience though.
emilygrace Posted October 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2010 You will probably get different answers here, but when we were upgraded to a JS we got 3 credits because it was a 14 day cruise.
cb at sea Posted October 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2010 You get the credit based on the room you occupy...not what you booked!
cruisenfever Posted October 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 14, 2010 You get the credit based on the room you occupy...not what you booked! If you are upgraded while on the ship (or during the cruise) which would mean that you are moved from the cabin you booked, you do not get the extra cruise credit. tropiclvrs Posted October 14, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2010 On our Oasis cruise in May we booked a balcony but were upgraded to a JS. We didn't know this until we checked in at the pier, and we only received the 1 credit. Should I call C&A and ask for the additional credit? We didn't know this until we checked in at the pier, and we only received the 1 credit. Should I call C&A and ask for the additional credit? I would because the credit is given after you completed the cruise. And since you started and ended in a Jr. Suite it will be 2 cruise credits. If you have any documentation lke your sign and sail statement showing what cabin you sailed in, make a copy of that as proof.

critterchick Posted October 14, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 14, 2010 We've gotten the extra credit, but know of people who have not. I believe that the policy is that you get the category you booked and paid for, but sometimes the computer doesn't know that.
FLACRUISER99 Posted October 14, 2010 #11 Share Posted October 14, 2010 RCI please upgrade me to a JS, and if you do you don't have to give me the extra cruise credit.
tropiclvrs Posted October 14, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 14, 2010 RCI please upgrade me to a JS, and if you do you don't have to give me the extra cruise credit. I never asked for the upgrade and certainly didn't expect one (or an extra credit). BUT, if some people are getting an extra credit for it, why shouldn't I? That's all!

BUT, if some people are getting an extra credit for it, why shouldn't I? That's all! I would call C&A and asked them and then let us know what they say. Seems that you never can get the same answer twice, or three times, or four times..............you get what I mean.:D
melbur Posted October 14, 2010 #14 Share Posted October 14, 2010 This one is another RCI mystery - we received credit for all but one upgrade. When I questioned C&A they said you get credit for what you paid for, not what you were given as an upgrade.

tropiclvrs Posted October 14, 2010 #16 Share Posted October 14, 2010 I will call and report back to everyone, thanks for the info. It would be a nice little treat if they gave it to me...One step closer to Diamond, not that it means much these days but I'll take what I can get ;)

Rare shipshape sam Posted October 15, 2010 #21 Share Posted October 15, 2010 If you get upgraded before you board the ship, you will get the credits for the cabin you occupy, this is from personal experience. This is what happened to us. We got the appropriate credit for the cabin we occupied, not what we booked. One could assume that the same would hold true for an upgrade once on board as the cruise credits are not processed till after the completion of the cruise per my understanding. tropiclvrs Posted October 15, 2010 #22 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Reporting back on my quest for an additional credit to be added to our accounts for our upgrade to a JS.... On the first try, it was a success! I even used the online live support feature (so my nosey co-workers wouldn't hear), and had no problems whatsoever! Thank you to the OP for posting this thread, as I probably never would have asked for the credit. Also thanks to everyone else that replied stating that they did receive the additional credit for their upgrade.
