Cruise director list enjoy

Just called RCCL and was advised that Richard Spacey is currently on the Oasis through November 6/10 - they confirmed that the November 6th sailing will be his last before his holidays (or wherever he is going). Allan Brooks will be taking over on November 13/10 until January 8/11. After that, Richard Spacey will be back on the Oasis. We have already had Richard twice - he is wonderful but he does do the same things all the time, so a third time might be a bit much - looking forward to seeing how Allan Brooks is. Anyone have any thoughts on Allan?

Paul was on Navigator a month ago when we went. Not 100%, but I THINK he could've started back when Navigator went to the 12 night cruises prior to the TA next week.

In our experience they all have a set routine that does not differ from one cruise to another much like the shows, 70's Night and similar events. I believe that RCL must have a set standard to which they must all adhere. Some just carry it off better than others.

 

Scotty - Yes, I know what you are saying, but some CD's and Richard was one of them - well, the 2nd week, it was "word for word" as to what happened the 1st week. We could have repeated the jokes/antics along with him - lol. I just meant that it will be nice to have a cruise director that we have never had before for some new jokes.:)

ncb - RCCL advised me (after checking with 2 supervisors) that Allan would be starting as CD on November 13th (I would guess that Allan will be on the ship starting on the 6th - learning the ropes from Richard for a week before he starts his official "CD" role the following week??) and Richard's last cruise would be November 6th - so, you are saying that this is not correct? I know that RCCL has been wrong before.....:D

I happen to love him. I spent a few cruises on Enchantment of the Seas when he was the CD. Some people think he's too low key. I always liked that he could lead a show without having to BE the show.

I didn't even notice mommabean's post when I initially posted. The cruise compasses from Enchantment last year were in a bag that we took this year. I just took a quick glance...Paul Rutter was the CD last year and this year...didn't even notice. I liked him though, both times.

Why the said face? I am looking forward to sailing on The Mariner.:p We had a group out of New Orleans that went to L.A. last Mardi Gras to sail on her and they loved her. I already have my cabin booked on the Mariner and for a little more than $100 each we were able to get a Grand Suite for the price I am paying now for my Jr. Suite on the Voyager. And New Orleans isn't that far away where you can't sail on The Voyager from there.

 

I'm going to miss Voyager. Doing my 5th cruise on her in January. The only other Voyager class ship I've sailed on has been Explorer. She is nice, but not Voyager.

 

We are 6 hours from Galveston and we'd have to overnight for New Orleans so we'll probably sail Mariner, but I will still miss Voyager. Her crew, in my opinion, is really special (not that all crews aren't good)

RCCL told me that Allan Brooks was on the Oasis until January 8th and then Richard was returning, so one can only assume that Richard will be there on January 8th. (But I personally would check again with them, just to be sure.)

Do you realize that those of us who are D+ have this as a benefit? "Access to favorite Captain's or Cruise Directors' sailing schedule" If we want to get this list correct, maybe we should all just pick a cruise director and then call in to request this information. There are more of us than there are cruise directors. So....some of us can pick a captain, too. :D

 

Would this be wrong...sneaky... or just plain fun?

I don't think Matt Sole is currently on the Brilliance. Gordon Whatman was the CD as recently as Sept. 24th. The following 12-night roll call mentions he is the cruise director for that cruise, as well. However, no mention if Matt is Gordon's relief or when that might occur.

Clo definitely told us she was only there for the week last week. She was a last minute fill in and then told us her schedule for next summer. She did not tell us how long she was on vacation for and I didn't ask her at the meet and mingle.

 

I do agree she is one of the best we have seen. We had Becky a few years ago on the Mariner and found her to be very fake. Clo was much more approachable and outgoing. She was talking to a few of us in the WJ, telling us how she used to work for National Car Rental and lived Revere or Reveaaahhhhh, copying the locals perfectly.:p

Clo can't be staying on the GR for too long.. The ship repositions to a Spanish speaking itinerary, and usually Rico has gone to that one (Well he did on the EN) when it went down to Panama.
