Found tons of RCCL swag, anyone else hoard this stuff?

Four years ago, I had an assistant organise my walk-ins after we finished building this house. She did a lovely job, a place for everything-everything in its place. Today I became curious - "what's in the boxes" and found a lovely large box FILLED with stuff I've hoarded from various RCCL cruises to remember them by. Unused coupon books, daily compasses, loads of hip bags ("fanny packs"), lanyards, wine tasting cups, stationary, laundry bags, one of my MEET AND MINGLE hanging notepad/cardholder/lanyard, newspapers from the ports going back 18 years (I was a teenager when I started cruising with my family). A few of these things I'm bringing onboard in May as I can definitely use them. Anyone else do this?

Not sure if that was meant to be rude... but yes, seriously. I had just turned 18, and my parents allowed me to bring 2 of my friends along. We thought we were so cool being able to drink wine, so I kept the necklace cups as a souvenir.

While I don't collect ship memorabilia as an adult, I do have a few pictures and momentos in a photo album from my childhood transatlantic voyage on the SS United States. I stumble across them every decade or so, and the memories flood back.

Enjoy the nostalgia!

Although I've been on 5 transAtlantic sailings....I can't tell you how jealous I am that you were on the SS US - those were glamorous days...I was born too late.

Sigh.

Cleaning the house of closets and drawers this winter since we can't go anywhere with this snow and found a menu from the Song of America, Fourth of July sailing, 1989!! It listed all the passengers names and what state and city they came from! So different from now.

It is amazing what we save over the years. Being retired and having moved from my old house I did not realize that I had a box with sailing memoribilia in it:eek: I have old sea pass cards and my pins from earlier sailings. I also have some Princess and Orient cruise lines things. Time to let this all go so that my kids don' think I was some kind of hoarder :)

Men don't have the same kind of sensitivity when it comes to saving things.

Enjoy them....Carol

Not only do we haul a ton of "stuff" back from each cruise.....>We're addicted to buying large groupings of "stuff" from E-Bay! There are 2-3 sellers that know we'll be bidding if they post a big enough pile!

We've been known to share some of the stash with friends/relatives who are going on their first ever RCCL cruise. Hats, pens, highlighters, etc.

Would you believe...my wife and I even have matching blue outfits like the entertainers wear ( or used to)....You'd recognize them if you saw them...

YUP! E-Bay!! Purchased by the entertainment production company (new in packages...BTW)......

You are right about men. Just today while looking through a sack of papers going to the recyclers for an article I meant to cut out, I found husband had been busy "cleaning." In the sack, I found a photograph of the Jubilee in a folder marked "Inaugural Cruise, July 198?" which we got given to us. I, also, found a letter a college had sent my son offering him a scholarship.

I, too, have a stash of things from Royal Caribbean that we have been given or won in trivia contests that I came across last week in the "present" drawer but not some of the good stuff you have accumulated.

Yep, I.ve got all kinds of stuff.

Sommelier cups

Crystal blocks

A bronze from a y2k cruise

Decks of cards (they used to have them in every cabin)

Cork screws (in every cabin long ago)

DW scrapbooks, so there’s one for each cruise.

Leis from our Hawaiian cruise.

Pins and badges, I collect them.

And other assorted things all put away nicely in a spare room.

I have a huge stash also and also have the wine tasting cup. I found a blue photo frame and I think I am the only one on CC who actually likes them.

I did just throw out some tote bags that had clip on handles as I found that the clips would not hold under any type of heavy weight. We did a family cruise in January and I was able to give every cabin the nice beach bag that was given away at the December Diamond event. At this point, if we are lucky to “win” the key ring in their casino spin, we usually give it to someone in line. They seem happy to have it.

We were lucky to be couple #2 in the recent love and marriage game show (on the Allure) so now I have a huge new stash! They gave us all kinds of stuff (They call it "crap") from the key rings to nice umbrellas and a video of how the Allure was made. Best of all – we were given a Rasul spa treatment. I guess since we came in third, they figured we needed it!

those sommelier cups are hard to find, they don't use them anymore. I have a stash of Empress/Sovereign/Majesty/Monarch of the Seas stuff that I'll be putting up on e-bay. Empress and Sovereign I could do now, if I could only find the time to do it.

Yep I hoard. I have less now than before because we had a house fire last year that took out the room where a bunch of it was. Maybe that was a sign that I should keep less things.

It is not just cruise stuff. I am really bad about hoarding anything from a vacation, from maps to hotel bills to brochures. I should probably learn to scrapbook to keep it more organized.

I'm definitely among my people! ;)

Soooo impressed by Steve-O's collection, and never thought about Ebaying some of this stuff, I have quite a lot of it!

Feel terrible for the lady whose son didn't receive the college scholarship due to it being lost in the collection of stuff.

Mine stash still fits in one of those hatbox style rectangular boxes (ala Crate and Barrel), I fear what it will look in another 20 years... :D

Wish it was OK to list your E-Bay seller name! Wouldn't it be ironic if I've actually purchased some of your treasures?? If you bundled stuff...I was a bidder.......

Also.....The Nuts want me to tell you....All's forgiven...please come home!!!.....

Have a good week....

Perfectly normal! :D;)

Ive got a big cruise box with lots of swag in it, not all RCI, but here are some highlights:

A business card holder with all of my Sail-and-Sign and SeaPass cards.

All of my CCL Past Guest pins from every Carnival ship I have cruised on.

Various editions of CCL playing cards going back to the 80s.

CCL and RCI fleet catalogs from the last several years, including one from CCL's 82-83 season that my wife got me off of ebay as a gift.

An early 90's Premier Cruises catalog she got from ebay, since my first cruise was with them during that time.

CCL playing cards, various editions from the last 25 years.

Various CCL gifts and trinkets from over the years.

My first set of CCL Platinum stationery and welcome aboard letter.

RCI Platinum lapel pin.

Hopefully soon to be added:

RCI Emerald and Diamond lapel pins!
