Trainman-2 Posted May 10, 2011 Author #202 Share Posted May 10, 2011 For the record, Judith and I are both readers! Carol and I tried for years to encourage her son, Calvin, to become a reader but we did not succeed. He kept telling us he was "reading at grade level" which he was but he can't read as we can. I worry that the lack of reading (and writing) skills in today's young people is going to hurt America's future. They can text, but not do serious business or militaryreading writing! Here is Judith in Action!

CruisingMomma88 Posted May 10, 2011 #209 Share Posted May 10, 2011 I have to say that my pants get tighter and tighter every time I look at this thread. LOL :p I'm LOVING the pictures and the updates. I'm drooling because we're not on another one until next summer. We were on Freedom in February and cannot wait to go again next year. Thanks for taking the time to take pictures and upload them while you're on vacation. How wonderful! I recently skimmed through and read your story and your recent loss and then recent love. What a wonderful thing! Looking forward to more updates soon. I'm sitting here at work picturing you enjoying dinner out on the best place on earth....the water! Trainman-2 Posted May 10, 2011 Author #215 Share Posted May 10, 2011 Dinner in the MDR tonight was, at best, disappointing! Here's the menu... I ordered the roast pork which was excellent! It was tender and juicy and I was able to cut it with my fork. Judith and the other couple all ordered the sirloin steak from the alternative menu. They ordered medium rare or rare and all got almost well done. The steaks were tough and very dry. All three of them were disappointing.

Trainman-2 Posted May 11, 2011 Author #218 Share Posted May 11, 2011 Two photos from our balcony when we returned to our cabin after dinner tonight. As we left for dinner it looked like it would be a good night to watch for the "Green Flash" but it clouded up and we never did see the sunset. Trainman-2 Posted May 11, 2011 Author #224 Share Posted May 11, 2011 Trainman - Thanks for the detailed info. We had to move our Freedom trip from August to next March so our wait just got longer... Here's a question from my husband (who will be escorting 4 girls on this trip - myself and our 3 daughters...if anyone deserves a pint of the good stuff - he will) I understand the Pub in the promenade has specialty beers, but I haven't been able to find out what specialty beers they serve. Would you mind listing them or take a photo of the beer menu? I know what they have available in most bars, but hoped they had a micro-brew or two in the pub. Any Caribbean beers anywhere on the ship? Thanks! I walked in tonight and asked if they had any "craft" or "micro-brewery" beers and the answer I got was no. However, I suspect there was a language/understanding difficulty. My photos of the beer listing did not turn out. I will try again tomorrow and see if I can get photos of the menu and a straight answer to the question.
