"LIVE" From the FREEDOM of the SEAS, 8-15 May 2011 (Eastern)

Recommended Posts

After the M&M we wend down to the Photo Center to look for photos the Ship's Photographers have been taking of us.

We bought $99 worth! The Captain is proud of us I am sure.

Here are two quick, but filled with reflections) shots. I will scan them all when we get home.

Another Excellent Lunch in the Windjammer.

Judith and I were both in a hamburger mood. I also tried the Greek Pizza which I had never seen before and was really good.

Of course you all know that when they have two, or more, of your favorite deserts it is always "OK" to get some and eat it along with your main course.

Can't wait to hear about your Chops experience. Needless for me to ask...."please take pictures of everything they serve?". Trainman....you're the greatest and I'm loving your live review, it's certainly putting me in cruise mode and June 11th just won't come soon enough.

I am loving that formal picture with you in uniform. And Judith's dress is absolutely beautiful.

When you are cruising I find myself (along with many others sounds like) checking CC all throughout the day for updates..LOL..I really enjoy my virtual cruise. Thanks again for taking me along.

Keep up the good work Trainman. It's a pleasure reading your posts.

My first and only cruise was on the Freedom. I know the "wow feeling" Judith must have right now.

Can't wait to board the Allure in a couple of weeks. :p

Trainman Jim, thanx for letting me hop on the Freedom with you and Judith. Congratulations on finding each other. Your smiles tell the story. I'm waiting impatiently for the rest of the week. Thanx

So happy to see you doing another live thread. Also, very happy that you have found someone to enjoy all your interests with. I know that Judith will be as big a fan cruising as you are.

Absolutely love the formal photo. You are so handsome in your uniform; and thank you for your service to our country.

Can't wait for you to post some more. By the way let us know when your next cruise is. I always make a mental note of when you are doing a live. Always look forward to reading and viewing your photos.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Trainman - I'm loving every bit of your review!! I especially enjoyed the pictures of the Britto Gallery and the freestanding piece in the Promenade. If you happen to see any other Britto artwork around the ship and snap a picture, please share! My wife and I love his work and bought a piece in the gallery on Allure recently... I was so happy to see they added a gallery on Freedom as well! Our honeymoon was on Freedom, and Port Canaveral is an easy drive for us, so I'm sure we'll be back one day!

>>Hi Loving your review, question re the drinks machine, is this what you need the soda card for? How does it work, how do they know you have a card? Have 3 kids and not sure if I need to buy them the soda card or not? Advice appreciated. Thanks<<

When you buy your soda card on the 1st day of the cruise, you are given a cup. Inside the base, there is a RFID chip. You are allowed 1 refill for a time limit of 10 or 15 minutes. After the time expires, you can get another refill. The soda machine is on the port side on the pool deck.

Trainman...enjoying you review. :)

So, what happens when my children fill up their cup, drink it, then leave it on the side, which they will do, they won't be able to carry it with them all the time, ie, flow rider, pool etc. How does that work????

P.s the photos of your stroll along the promenade are amazing, thanks

Absolutely beautiful picture from you formal night!

Really enjoying this.

I'm also really interested in what happens if you lose your cup for the soda fountain. I imagine they can cancel your cup and give you a new one? Not really fair if they don't. If they can't cancel the old one then we might have found a huge loop hole for abuse!

Your meal at Chops Steakhouse will be simply amazing. It completes the whole experience of cruising.

Trainman - Thanks for the detailed info. We had to move our Freedom trip from August to next March so our wait just got longer

...

Here's a question from my husband (who will be escorting 4 girls on this trip - myself and our 3 daughters...if anyone deserves a pint of the good stuff - he will)

I understand the Pub in the promenade has specialty beers, but I haven't been able to find out what specialty beers they serve. Would you mind listing them or take a photo of the beer menu? I know what they have available in most bars, but hoped they had a micro-brew or two in the pub. Any Caribbean beers anywhere on the ship?

Thanks!

Is it just me, or does this look like something other than an animal?

PS-thanks for the great review! Hope you are having a great time with Judith. We sail on FOS May 22.

We cruise on the 22nd as well. I heard about Trainman from the FB page that one of our fellow cruisers made. If you are interested in seeing us on FB search: Freedom of the Seas May 22, 2011. There are about 30 of us there meeting and mingling pre cruise. come read our posts there!

Umm, guess it would work just like it does in any other public place. Someone will likely come along and take it or throw it away.
