it is not set in stone. Normally (and define normal) it's 10 wks on 10 wks off. Many of the captains prefer a longer time at home so they have longer rotations. RCI can ask a captain to stay on until a new captain shows up. A rotation is supposed to be at least 8 wks no longer than 14 weeks...this isn't written in stone either. Family emergencies happen or there's an event a captain wants to attend so he has to change his schedule. The 2 captains work it out between themselves.

 

I need posters to post here who their captain was to catch the rotations that are longer or shorter than the 10 weeks or where the cruise is longer than 7 nights. The Excel program TPKeller made for me only calculates a 10 week rotation. If I don't hear anything different, I automatically make a change at 10 weeks.

wolfcathorse...thanx for your longer and more through answer. ;) I realize that there are always variables that might come into play. Was trying to figure out who would be Grandeur's master when I return on 3-27. Capt. Thor started a new rotation on 1-14 so 10 weeks would take him through 3-25. That would put Capt. Ante back on the ship when I get there. Just something to think about while I am home longing to be back on the ship.:p

I do not book a cruise based on 'who the Master /Captain' will be, but it is so nice and pleasant to meet a person /Captain that we like for whatever reason .

 

On our last cruise in Dec. (Serenade) we did not expect to meet Captain Krzysztof (even that I knew from your thread that it was his rotation) .... but we did when one morning we were getting coffee at the CL.

 

He recognized and remembered us from another cruise and we 'knew' him as well. It was a happy reunion and it made the cruise even more enjoyable.

Jan 21 is the 10 week rotation date. But Capt Ego likes longer rotations so he might be.
