Captain thor Grimstad I believe is the Staff Captain. Cptain Henrik was at the Captains conferance and got on the Explorer while in St.Maarteen.

 

Based on a few threads in the past week it sounds that a number of ships were under the command of their Staff Captain during the conference... hence some of the unfamiliar names floating around.

Yes, he does have those piercing blue eyes. Yes, we've sailed with Chantal many times when she was WJ Manager on Radiance.

No, unfortunately she is not. She was a wonderful WJ Manager wasn't she? I remember when she was a Head Waiter on Monarch.

Captain Faevelen was "start up captain" for the whole Voyger class, which does not mean he was in first command on any but MA.

The first EX Master was Olav Nyseter.

We were later told that the original captain went on vacation , that just seems strange.

 

This morning I got this response to who was in charge ..

George could have gotten his last name wrong. The Explorer cruise began on January 16 out of Bayonne.

Wonder if this is in any way related to the medical emergency which will cause Explorer to be a day late in returning????

It's possible that Captain Henrik left to go to the Captain's meeting and then returned after it was done leaving the Staff Captain in charge. Just a guess.

Does anybody have recent information about Captain Rune Lokling? He left RCCL several years ago, and I think he was trying to start a small, not-for-profit cruise line. I've also heard rumors that he might consider returning to RCCL, if the other venture doesn't work out. With all the events in the news lately, I've been thinking about Captain Rune (my all-time favorite RC Captain). In an at-sea catastrophe, I'd be willing to bet that he'd be the LAST person off the ship -- certainly not among the first! :rolleyes:

I've heard that Cpt. Karin Stahre Janson is resigning from Serenade of The Seas because the authorities in Dubai doesen't want to have a female captain.. Not sure how true that is though.
