"LIVE" from Celebrity Silhouette - March 29, 2012

I am a bit late following this thread but thank you so much for sharing pictures and information from the Silhouette! We will be sailing on her in May from Venice. You were VERY FORTUNATE and I am VERY ENVIOUS that you were with Captain Kafetzis! We sailed with him on the Infinity in 2005 and have been trying to catch up with him ever since! We thought he would be our captain out of Venice but it has been confirmed that he will not. He is by far the best captain we have ever had and we have been on a number of cruises. We have the upmost respect for him! As you mentioned, he has a wonderful sense of humor, is very personable, and is a very conscientous captain. I hope we will have the opportunity to sail with him again some day.

Thanks again for your postings. We are even more excited to experience Silhouette after seeing your pictures!

Radio-So many times on the RCC board we have said you market ships better than their whole marketing departments. You should have at least one cruise with Mrs. Radio for free.

I vote for the Owners Suite!!

Thank you for your incredible pictures and time spent sharing your cruise with so many. You are a very special person with exceptional writing and photography talent.

I look forward to your LIVE from Enchantment!

WOW!!! I could look at this photo every day. It's sooo relaxing. Great shot!

I enjoyed cruising along and look forward to your opinions on the differences from RCI and Celebrity. I know you like to retire early, but during the evenings that you stayed up late did you notice a lot of people out enjoying the evening activities like cruisers do with RCI sailings? What was the latest you stayed up? Thanks, Radio...safe travel home.

Hello everyone. . .I am sure that everyone reading this post feels the same way about the last day as I do. . .It’s not cool. I need to pack, get my account in order. Make sure the tips go to the employees that made a difference. . .It’s all that =stuff= that I really don’t like to do, but have to do it.

Shortly after my post this morning, the rain came down hard, with lightning and thunder. At least the only rain I noticed was on the last sea day, and only for about an hour. After the storm, the sun came out again and warmed us up. .. It was very windy though.

The Captain suggested that the relative wind speeds exceeded 40kts. There were not many passengers out on the pool decks. It seems that everyone was in the Shops or Fortunes Casino. . .You didn’t find Radio in either of those places today.

I was invited to a very nice Cruise Critic Lunch in the Grand Cuvee’ Restaurant, and it was really nice to speak with many of the Cruise Critic members. We shared stories of our previous cruises, and it was nice to sit down and put a face to a screen name. We had a Celebrity Connections party on Day 2, but there was a ton of members there. . .

I really like Celebrity Cruises as well as Silhouette. There are touches with Celebrity that you just don’t see on RCI. . .Things like the Cold towels, and Ice water at the Gangway. . . Like Sorbet Service at the pool. . .like NO announcements (my favorite). I like the way that a breadbasket is set up at each table, and the way that every employee knows you name(I still don’t know how that happens). There are a lot of little touches that make a cruise with Celebrity memorable.

Now with all that being said. .. You may wonder which line I like better? My answer is clear. I love both RCI and =X=, and will continue to sail with them when I am able to. I seem to sail with RCI the most, and I guess it’s just that RCI is in my Home Port, and there are many more ships to choose from.

Were are sailing very fast (23kts) toward Cape Liberty. . .It appears that we are getting very close, and may possibly arrive early. We only have 135nm to go.Our arrival is scheduled for 7AM.

The white caps have been with us all day, and the ship has pitched and rolled more today than on the whole cruise.

I though the Farewell Show may have been a little better. . .they brought back a couple of the acts that performed earlier in the Cruise, and I was expecting more of a finale, but the talent was good. The ship entertainment will be up late tonight as there are acts performing throughout the ship up until 2AM.

Here are a few pics from today. . .I didn’t post much today because my Internet pkg was getting very low. There will be more pics tomorrow before (10AM), from our arrival, debarkation etc. . .

Thanks for the nice comments, and thanks for tuning in !

I'm sure you're just about docking, going to tell my husband to look for you from the SI Ferry. Is there another ship in the dock? We had unbelievable winds here yest. too. Maybe you'll still see the smoke from the fires in Staten Island. So enjoyed reading your trip reports, gave me a feel of what we can expect from the Summit in Aug. Looking forward to your next one!

Good morning. . .Welcome to Day 13 of “LIVE” from Celebrity Silhouette.

I think I will start packing now. . .

Well, we made it back safe and sound. We actually pulled up to the pier at about 6:30AM, and we were tied up before 7AM. The ship started Self (Express) Debarkation at about 7:30, and the last passenger is scheduled to be off around 10:15AM. . . I might be one of them . . .

It has been a great cruise, and I am looking forward to sailing with Celebrity again soon. I have about a 4 hour drive to get home, and I should be posting lots more pics this week. I will try to have each of the Celebrity Today dailies up by tomorrow.

I hope I was able to out a few smiles on the faces of readers out there, as I know that I smiled a lot during this Cruise. I really love to do “LIVE” posts, and I love to cruise. . .so I had the best of 2 worlds over the last 12 nights. . .

Thanks for all of the nice comments. . .and it wouldn’t be a “LIVE” Radio post if I didn’t say. . .

Thanks for tuning in. . .
