Disgusted with RCL and Rhapsody Cabin changes!

Recommended Posts

Last night I booked the newly listed 12 night Hawaii cruise on Rhapsody for September 2013. After viewing the post-refurbishment deck plans on-line, I determined I wanted Cabin #8096. The agent told me that cabin didn't exist for that sailing but that the corner aft cabin I wanted was 8088. I referred to what I'd read on here and asked her to double check. She came back and said 8088 is the corner aft. The on-line plans have an end date earlier than my cruise. After booking, i called again and got the same story. So I wonder if cabin numbers are being changed again or if I am going to be disappointed. My guess is the latter. I think I will call again tomorrow during regular business hours and ask one more time.

The deck plan that is shown when booking on the RC web site is the new deck plan where the corner afts are 8096 and 8596. Neither cabin is available.

And the agent is telling me the deck plan is wrong and that those cabins don't exist on the ship. My guess is that when they opened up the ship for booking in their system, they somehow used the old deck plan.

I didn't reserve a JS on the Rhaposody....

They are still offering JS Guarantees on my cruise to Alaska....

Disappointed to hear that there is NO Diamond Lounge (19th Hole) as on other ships...

Do you know if there are any windows in the NEW lounge?

Yes! I agree they should take care of dedicated customers BETTER!!!!

Write a letter to the CEO I am sure he will be HAPPY to hear of all these

UNHAPPY and DISCONTENTED customers!

I posted this on April 16th - #89 on this thread - do you think maybe the "flash" and update will happen soon?

". . . . upcoming Rhapsody cruise -

I was just called with an offer of my first ever upgrade, from a D1 to a JS - I'd earlier done a paid upgrade from an oceanview to a D1 fantail balcony - on the seventh deck (where the numbers were NOT changed after the refurbishment) I asked where the JS would be - "there were a couple midship and the others were on the fantail"- "Fantail??? - REALLY??" "You have those???"

she read me the numbers - and Guess What!! - That's right - I explained that those were the OLD fantail numbers - and this location renumbering is exactly what has and is causing such a ruckus. She excused herself - and upon returning, indicated the Website had been updated - but NOT the reservation system and those JSs available were on the side - They are going to request an update and a flash email with the information -"

PLEASE keep their feet to the fire on this - someone has to fix this show and I think it's US - it certainly is not going to come from the top.

It boggles my mind how they still don't know what's going on!!!! How do they NOT GET IT????? I wonder what would happen if they were suddenly bombarded with calls about all of the aft cabins,, ppl making mock bookings, seeing what cabins are available..etc. Ha,, but I doubt they'd still even realize. For what it's worth, IMHO.. When companies get this big.. The customers no longer matter, plain and simple. It's scary and sad. What else are they overlooking? especially if they can't simply stand up and do the right thing?

I would keep calling - having just spent 15 nights in 8596 and seen 8096 as the opposite aft corner - I can assure you unless they are going to renumber again they are the 2 JS corner aft cabins!!!!!, what I still can't understand (and thankfully for me) is how the Aus Office could ring assure me of the cabin no. change but reassure me that my cabin position was exactly what I had chosen and yet the US office got it so wrong! Having on our previous cruise on Rhapsody had our corner aft balcony taken from us (and eventually regained) I do really understand and can only hope they sort this out urgently - I for the life of me cannot understand the seeming lack of understanding and insight by the senior management of RCCL of the problem they have created which will be ongoing and compounded when passengers arrive only to find their carefully chosen cabin is no longer and the importance to many cruisers of cabin selection......

Anticipation, to me, is half the fun/enjoyment of planning a cruise and yet with this cruise this was lacking to a great extent as I really was worried I would get to the dock and again have my coveted cabin taken away from me (yes this did happen the previous time thought it had been sorted but when we checked in this had been changed again and so after over a 1/2 hr discussion we finally wrangled it back!), it was only after a smooth checkin this time that I could breathe a sigh of relief and do a belated doc dance - I really would be hesitant to book RCL again IF I wanted a specific cabin after my past experience and now what is happening to the current bookings!

Sometime after I made my second call to the Certified Travel Planners, my cabin number was reassigned. I don't have the corner aft, but the one right next to it. A little frustrating but I'm glad someone took the time to research after my call and make things as close to what I was hoping for as they could. At least I'm not on the port side with an adjoining cabin.

I've got 504 days to get over it :)

Well, having read the whole thread I have a few observations. Normally I sail with Celebrity since I need one more credit to make Elite (this September, Infinity to Alaska), but I did an Adventure of the Seas Southern Caribbean once and had no problems. I had a family stateroom forward, which they let me keep even when the fifth person had to cancel.

As for this issue, my first observation is that LeeGrant is not a troll and validly points out that according to the cruise contract, which I read to the detriment of my eyesight, RCI does have the right to do just what they did. The turn of phrase might have been more diplomatic in the commentary, but on point is on point and in that I have no argument.

As for marci22's comment referral to the "Gold Anchor Service" which is great when it works, as it did on my cruise with Royal, in this case it obviously broke down terribly and I would be as ticked off as anyone with what's gone on. I really do hope that everyone gets acceptable satisfaction out of all this and everyone's complaints hit the correct ears.

The most important thing is to make sure the higher ups remember that "Gold Anchor Service" does not mean dropping the Gold Anchor on your customers' heads. The co-most important thing is not to let it ruin your cruise and your interaction with the crew, because they'll go all out for you. Once you're out there, leave this ashore and enjoy. It'll wait.

Gary, I did a double take with your countdown clock. I had never heard of that and had to Google it. Makes more sense now.:)

I would be very upset with losing my aft balcony.(as you can see from my signature)

Shame on RCI for not correcting this situation!

Sorry off subject, but since you obviously love 9256, can you post some pics of it. Did you just love the balcony for Alaska? I snagged it, hope the number doesn't change on Radiance, but thank God she's already been refurbed.

The room numbering changes didn't just affect you lucky people who can afford the aft cabins. Our deck 3 cabins with a window were moved to cabins with two port holes when the renumbering took place. Luckily my TA was able to change the rooms. Good thing I watch the CC boards, or I wouldn't have known to check!

I see that CC has published an article, although they didn't get all the facts quite right.

So, I called today to book for 2014 and asked for a cabin along the fantail. The rep offered me the corner aft, #8088.:eek: It took 20 minutes to convince the rep that she was working off old deck plans. She called Resolutions twice. The first time, they told her that the consumer website (which has the new plans) is incorrect. I insisted that she try again, and she got somebody who knew what was going on.

I know that there are many more important issues in the world than whether I get the cabin I want, but I'm just shaking my head here.

Here's a crazy thought. What if Royal has decided to renumber the cabins on deck 8 AGAIN, restore all the original numbers, and assign the new (out of sequence) numbers to the new cabins around the centrum? Wow, what a mess that would create!

CassCruise,

Do you have any pictures of the cabn/balcony you were in, 8596?

Thanks!

I am going to try and do a review on the weekend - but I have a tonne of pics not just our cabin but several others as well (ran around like a madman the last morning to have a look at other cabin types!) so will try and figure out how/where to post them all!

I started this particular thread last week after finding out about the change in my cabin on our June15th Alaska cruise. I then saw the other posts and since then it has been my mission to try and get RCL to make this right for those who booked originally. Today my email to Mr. Goldstein and Mr. Fain was answered by an Exective Customer Relations Specialist. I talked to her directly and even she does not know why this all occured. But they are not willing to move the current ocupants who booked after us. I have written letters, made phone calls and now I am just plain worn out from trying to have the best vacation possible. I give up.

Not sure which facts you're referring to in the story, but if we did get something wrong, we'd certainly like to correct it.
