RRLLAL Posted August 26, 2012 #201 Share Posted August 26, 2012 There is no cost benefit to taking a cruise on another line when you add up the pluses and minuses of each line and pretty much get a net zero until you get to the cost. Yes, this was your point, try again. No because the chefs table and your other things were not free like you tried to insinuate. RRLLAL Posted August 26, 2012 #202 Share Posted August 26, 2012 The most important thing for any business is Cutomer service. Most small business owners will tell you that. Sometimes the bigger a company gets they forget And I and many many thousand others have no problem with their customer service. RRLLAL Posted August 26, 2012 #203 Share Posted August 26, 2012 Well now I KNOW you have NEVER sailed any other line! Most of these ARE dry dock maintenance issues or part of NEW builds! However, since you've only been on Carnival, these "seem" like added benefits!!! LOL Real nice come back. Weak. This post did not talk about other ships. It addresses only Carnival and what THEY have added in response to those who claim Carnival ONLY takes away. And no, none of them are maintenance. Maintenance is cleaning carpets stuff. Nice try. H82seaUgo Posted August 26, 2012 #204 Share Posted August 26, 2012 So since 2003 you have missed the following adds (not that every add is a positive for all, just like every cutback doesn't bother all. It is all personal preference but they are still adds that cost $$$). * Addition of water slides. * Addition of large screens on some ships. * Addition of a zip line thing (on 1 or 2 ships?). * Addition of additional comedy shows. * Addition of comedy brunch. * Addition of the Mongolian Wok and other free eateries. * Addition of Guys Burgers. * The whole 2.0 thing. * Addition of burrito bar. * Addition of pre-dinner sushi tasting. * Addition of Cove balconies. * Replacement of TV's with LCD's. * Upgrades to their private island. * Additional equipment and training classes in the spa. * Forget which class, but a $2.5m upgrade to one class ship. * Additional table games in the casino as well as their own year long poker tournament (yes, they make money but to some cruisers it is a great time. Chris Moneymaker says hello). * Many others I am sure I am forgetting. None of the above are just standard dry dock maintenance/cosmetic clean-up things. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2 they've always had slides making up for the footbaths they call pools, and they've always had comedy, asian food,, burgers, numerals which used to be 10, sushi, tv's. all the other things replaced the good stuff, and are downgrades and distractions. you should really step foot on a rccl voyager class ship or larger. this list is an insult even just to recite, and should be made available to rccl cd's, letting their passengers know these are "perks" in someone's eyes.. but the funniest on your list has to be a cove balcony. misstopgun Posted August 26, 2012 #205 Share Posted August 26, 2012 No because the chefs table and your other things were not free like you tried to insinuate. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2 On the contrary, I was stating that I spent more for extras to enable me to enhance my experience, something I would not need to spend on a line that had superior entertainment. If I was spending less on extras than I do on Carnival because what they offered kept me entertained, I wouldn't necessarily be spending more for a cruise on another line. ib4cruzn Posted August 26, 2012 #207 Share Posted August 26, 2012 None are so blind as those who will not see. To use the cliche' so oft quoted here: "He ranks (insert cruiseline here) and he's never even SAILED on them!" What are you using for comparison? RRLLAL Posted August 26, 2012 #210 Share Posted August 26, 2012 Please re-read your post (I cited verbatim above). I do not have a reading comprehension problem. If you go to the front page here (this thread) there are NOT more postive posts about carnival than anything. We understand... You've spewed out so much crap its tough to keep track of it all. Little tiny baby seal. This really isn't that difficult. You must be skipping around posts, but I will help you one more time. I responded to someone talking about all of CC. Not just this one thread. My posts are not the only positive ones on CC and I referred him/het to the front page here on the Carnival board. Got it now? Medtech2 Posted August 26, 2012 #214 Share Posted August 26, 2012 I think that this review by the OP is spot on.... I have only cruised 4 times.. 3 in Carnival (2007, 2009 & 2012), and one on the NCL star (2011 Alaska).. We hated the experience on board the NCL star. It was ALL around the HORRIBLE dining experience. We went an an Alaskan cruise with my daughter, who has severe food allergies, and my mother in law who was wheel chair bound and had dietary restrictions. When we sailed on the Carnival Glory in 2009, with my daughter, they made her feel like a princess, and made a special dinner and dessert for her every night, that met her allergies. On the NCL Star, they gave her a packaged cookie for dessert every night, despite me having contacted them before we even booked the trip. That was CHEAP!! We had to wait at least 30 minutes every night, with my MIL in a wheel chair, due to the silly free style dining. The staff could not anticipate how many were going to show up, and gave us buzzers like they do in Olive Garden! REALLY? After this new trip on board that Carnival Liberty, I do feel that Carnival has scaled back WAAAAAYyyy too much! After only cruises under my expanding belt, I am not a cruise snob... but I did feel let down. The shows were mediocre and the main entertainment was Karaoke... The Buffet lines were too long, the choices were limited, and I found that the whole section on Indian food on the buffet disappeared!! I think Carnival has laid off a lot of crew members. I remember many many bar attendants on my previous Carnival cruises, asking us if we wanted a drink.. be on Lido, Panorama deck or the show in the auditorium.. On this cruise on the Liberty?? There was not ONE attendant that came to the deck 11 where we were lounging.. I had to go down to the bar on the Lido deck, order a bucket of beer, and they made ME carry it up 2 decks.. REALLY??? That is a loyalty killer I hope Carnival reads this thread and does something before we all go to other cruise lines.. My wife and I are thinking Royal Caribbean or Princess Cruise for our next cruise.. Food allergies are SO important! Has anyone ever posted a question on the various lines as to how well this problem has been addressed by each line? Now that would be very useful information to have... Busy Barge Posted August 26, 2012 #222 Share Posted August 26, 2012 Carnival is obviously taking a lesson from Walmart and Dollar store, evident from its recent drastic cutbacks. It wants to compete on price alone so not surprising that it wants to appeal to those who can't afford more. There is a segment of the market that do not have choices and they are a lock for Carnival.
