Thank you for an honest comparison.

You provide great entertainment for this board if nothing else.

Their comparison was honest because they bashed other lines? Lol. Seriously your posts are such nonsense that no one would actually take a recommendation from you on what cruise is best.

Not sure why people like you, H8 and others who are all negative all the time about Carnival even post on a Carnival board. Or if you sail Carnival, why.

You must be dense or something. Let me try and explain it again is very short sentences.

We care about CCL.

We've had a great time on CCL.

We don't like the direction it has taken.

MANY others (more than an insignificant minority) have posted the same.

You are the minority opinion on this thread.

Do you get paid to blindly defend carnival?

See how stupid it sounds.

My payment is the opportunity to cruise on the best cruiseline out there with people who are fun.

Got anything more scientific to add besides " wonder why so many cruise Carnival if that poll means anything ". I can keep this up all day. I have cruised Carnival RCL and NCL and would cruise any of them again. If you really read the OP comparison you'll see it's not all negative for CCL. It's their opinion, which they're entitled to have. From what I can see from your posted cruise history, you have no way too know if CCL is the better cruise line or not. Not that it matters if it is better, if you like it stick with it. But don't blast others because they have decided to move to another line, even if they come back to your precious Carnival boards and post it. Just stop reading their reviews and put your head back in sand.

Yea, 200 people is scientific. Brilliant.

I think that this review by the OP is spot on....

I have only cruised 4 times.. 3 in Carnival (2007, 2009 & 2012), and one on the NCL star (2011 Alaska)..

We hated the experience on board the NCL star. It was ALL around the HORRIBLE dining experience. We went an an Alaskan cruise with my daughter, who has severe food allergies, and my mother in law who was wheel chair bound and had dietary restrictions.

When we sailed on the Carnival Glory in 2009, with my daughter, they made her feel like a princess, and made a special dinner and dessert for her every night, that met her allergies.

On the NCL Star, they gave her a packaged cookie for dessert every night, despite me having contacted them before we even booked the trip. That was CHEAP!!

We had to wait at least 30 minutes every night, with my MIL in a wheel chair, due to the silly free style dining. The staff could not anticipate how many were going to show up, and gave us buzzers like they do in Olive Garden! REALLY?

After this new trip on board that Carnival Liberty, I do feel that Carnival has scaled back WAAAAAYyyy too much! After only cruises under my expanding belt, I am not a cruise snob... but I did feel let down. The shows were mediocre and the main entertainment was Karaoke...

The Buffet lines were too long, the choices were limited, and I found that the whole section on Indian food on the buffet disappeared!!

I think Carnival has laid off a lot of crew members. I remember many many bar attendants on my previous Carnival cruises, asking us if we wanted a drink.. be on Lido, Panorama deck or the show in the auditorium..

On this cruise on the Liberty?? There was not ONE attendant that came to the deck 11 where we were lounging.. I had to go down to the bar on the Lido deck, order a bucket of beer, and they made ME carry it up 2 decks.. REALLY??? That is a loyalty killer

I hope Carnival reads this thread and does something before we all go to other cruise lines..

My wife and I are thinking Royal Caribbean or Princess Cruise for our next cruise..

I would probably be the only person you weren't replying to on this thread:rolleyes: But, you asked for my point back on page 2 and others have made it rather clearly since then.

I've been on the board for 7 years - I read the good and the bad quite frankly I've been stunned by the number of Carnival fans who have posted simlilar thoughts to that of OP on a CARNIVAL BOARD.

If you would look at all of CC - you would see that your opinion is not the majority opinion. Of course you could focus you search to just your posts, and you would have a 100% majority.

And Carnival cheerleaders of late are the most pathetic of them all because they have the toughest defense job.

Very entertaining to read. :D

And to add: for those who complain why this review is not on Norwegian board, well, it is too. ;)

that the sign of desperation. the cheerleaders have lost the ability to defend the massive ccl cutbacks, so they then resort to subtile attacks.

"why are you here?"

False accusations

"you don't cruise carnival, why are you here?"

pronounced board exclusivity:

"this board is for satisfied carnival cruisers. why are you here?"

and it gets funnier with each defensive post.

i'm off to buy the sunday paper listing only stories i like.

so many negative that posters are actually creating posts to talk about good things. nothing shouts louder than that.

or the vifp posts that had to be combined because people were complaing they took over page 1 worse than the old crazie threads.

If you have to ask you don't cruise Carnival.

i couldn't think of any either.

Yea, real scientific. Wonder why so many cruise Carnival if that poll means anything.

cheap prices. which leads to further cutbacks.

Your cruise pretty much mimics the cruise I had on the NCL Spirit Oct 2011. I've been saying this OVER and OVER....but the CREW was absolutely over the top in every way....and it started the MOMENT you stepped foot on the ship until you stepped off. And yes...the entertainment IS great! We met most of the officers time and again after and during the shows. Only cruise I've been on yet were the crew actually acted like they really ENJOYED their job!

NCL probably should have a new ship or two in the works 'cause they are gonna need it when word gets out!

OH...BTW...enjoyed reading your review!

on NCL I got off the ship saying this was one of the best cruises we went on. Mainly because of the entertainment and staff. Three different times including once in Moderno the Brazilian Steakhouse Pedro the C.D. stopped by our table to see if we were having a good time. Everywhere you went staff went out of their way to accomodate. Hopefully Carnival will read these boards and realize it is time to upgrade their entertainment. I was going to sail on the Miracle this Winter our of NYC, but decided 9 days to San Juan, St Thomas, St Martin, and Semana DR beats 8 days in Nassua, Freeport, and Port Canaveral.

No. It belongs where Carnival will see it and hopefully make a course correction.

NCL changed out its CEO about 4 or 5 years ago and has been headed in the right direction. CCL - just the opposite.

Bingo! Bingo and BINGO!

This is exactly what I have felt for the past 4 years... and I agree that NCL's new CEO is the reason. I first sailed NCL when he first took the reigns and I saw a huge improvement between my first and second NCL cruise and each cruise after that got even better, even when I thought it not possible to improve any more.

The reason it's special is they understand making the passenger feel special. This costs them absolutely nothing. The service I have had on CCL has always...always been excellent, however, there is something above and beyond when you step on an NCL ship and I can't even verbally find the words to express what that 'something is...it's just there.

Plus, for us entertainment is improtant and NCL provides more to do. This is especially important to us on longer cruises. I like to relax and do absolutely nothign on some cruises, but if I am cruising longer than 7 days, I do prefer to have good entertainment options.

Doesn't this belong on the ncl board?

why? you want to hide the discussions of the cutbacks off this board?

i see it's posted on both boards, being it a comparison experience (one which appears you can't write yet, but could learn from, as well as others).

but the days of people supporting such a review of the "other" lines on this board, defending ccl, are long gone. there's now more an agreement that ccl is no longer what it once was, and is quite eye opening when you cruise the other lines, who are doing the opposite, taking full advantage of the current poor ccl leadership. even paying posters to post good things about ccl won't stop this. there are only less than 5 these days.

When I first joined......... If a poster said something negative about Carnival ......... there were alot more posters that would defend Carnival than there are now.

I still defend it, in fact, I did yesterday over on the HAL borads (or was it Friday???....doesn't matter)

Which is why when RRLLAL or the Sarge refer to me as a Hater I just shake my head because that is the furthest from the truth as you can get.

Also NOT ONE poster who agrees with ther OP here has mentioned any 'hate' towards CCL. If RRLLAL thinks prefering NCL over CCL constitutes the hatred of CCL, then he has a very screwed up way of looking at things.

Also, his way of defending the line does more harm that good because it's a turn off for some. Who wants to cruise with people like that??

So this is what you latch onto, "People who are fun". Does that mean that these are the people who can still have a great time when shows focus on more on passenger participation and talent shows or smile despite the level of service reaching new lows?

I think people on Royal Caribbean, Princess, NCL, and other lines are fun too. But they also want better service and entertainment. Carnival has done some very good things lately. We like the spa balcony cabin concept and the Red Frog Pub concept as well. But 2.0 with its emphasis on booze, game shows, and burgers does little for us. But it's great to have other options and the OP found one that fit his/her sweet spot. For us, we're looking forward to a cruise on the Allure of the Seas, with real entertainment choices.

I can't quote that person so I have to quote your response.... I am LMAO...

Does he sound 'fun' to you???

LOL...seriously!!

As far as fun, this is exactly why NCL is better for us. Carnival used to be the fun ships but the cuts have changed that. We have had far more fun on NCL with all the options..starting with music and deck parties...the Quest, White Hot party...please....I sailed three long NCL cruises and wasn't bored for a second. My last CCL cruise was 15 days of relaxation...whether I wanted that or not because we could find NOTHING to do.

If you love a casino and Karaoke, then CCL is all you need. Unfortunately, neither of those do anythign for me.

The cruise critic boards have become more open and honest the past couple of years as more and more people cruise on different lines. There is criticism on all cruise line boards. I give less and less credence to posts from people who only have cruised on one line. I have never cruised on NCL and I won't criticize them. But I do like what I am reading.

Another cut on CCL which hasn't been discussed much, is the "drinks on us" cards. Example: sailed on Fascination in May (5 nights), earned card after 900 points on slots. Ended up with almost 4500 points earned.

Contacted Players Club about our upcoming cruise on Fascination (5 nights) and received reply that"drinks on us" card is no longer available on Fascination. Now why would CCL do this, unless it is the same reason as the other cuts, save money any way we can. It is all about the bottom line (profits) and getting people to sail, especially new passengers, not about keeping people coming back.:(
