Indescribable! (But I'll try): My Allure Photo Review

Recommended Posts

Realizing we've never met, but knowing we have read each other's reviews, I just have to tell you, I just found out our only daughter is pregnant with their first child who will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family. She is due in Sept, so now my next review may include shopping for souveniers for a baby :D

That's such great news! Congratulations! Our baby is the first grandchild on both sides too. Have fun getting ready for the little one! :)

Hi Chrystal! Great review! Congrats on the baby!

I have a few questions for you. That Labadoozie drink you had in the Bamboo container. Was it really bamboo and how much is the drink? Was it less with no alcohol? I just want the container. LOL

Also, I did email the rcl dining people to request a table for two, and I got no response. I sent it to the same email address as you did. Did you know a particular person's name there, or do you just have a knack with email requests? ;) I would like for them to let me know either way, but so far they didn't reply at all. :( It's been about a week and half.

We sail on Allure on March 3 and we're super excited! :)

Hope you don't mind, Chrystal, that I'll answer the question about the bamboo container. I hope you're busy nesting!! I do hope you'll come back and tell us about the happy event.

We were with friends on our Allure cruise, and all of a sudden it became our quest to get all the different drink containers (and we usually never buy those or drink during the day). IIRC, the drink with alcohol was $11. Probably a couple bucks less without.

But.............if you just want the container, wait until the end of the week. All the different beverage containers will be for sale on the Promenade! Prices are reasonable. The fancy martini glasses, the plastic ships, the drink of the day ones, etc. I just measured mine and it holds just about 16 oz. liquid.

Have a wonderful cruise!

Cool thanks for the tip! So the Bamboo is real bamboo?

Yes, it is. The inside is lined with plastic, and there's a plastic lid and straw.

The drink was just some fruity, frozen concoction, with a little rum poured on the top. All those drinks taste the same to me. I prefer wine or a Captain Morgan and Diet Coke!

I really don't like frozen drinks either. I prefer my rum with just a bit of juice or coke. But I really like the container! thanks for answering my question tho! :)

Near the Windjammer (or one deck down, I can't remember), there's a model of the Allure of the Seas, and around it the history of the innovations in Royal's ship designs. There are some photos of the Song of Norway as well. Worth a few minutes of your time to take a look.

i would love to see a model of the song of norway next to a model of the allure!! the allure looks gigantic when it's docked next to other big ships, so i can imagine the song of norway would probably look like a lifeboat in comparison to the allure..

I found a bunch of nifty information cards in the kiosk in front of Guest Relations. They talked about the smoking policy on the Allure, as well as Teen Activities broken down by age. Just FYI:

i didn't realize smoking's permitted in dazzles

i wonder if it's terribly smoky in there, even in the non-smoking area...

We did a B2B in December and I didn't notice anyone smoking in Dazzles the couple nights we were in there and I never noticed or smelled any smoke in Blaze either. My husband use to leave Blaze and go into the casino which is nearby to have a cigarette.

Wow, this thread is still going. Crystal, I hope you'll come in here and let us know when your little guy makes his arrival. In fact when I saw this thread listed at the top I thought for SURE that's what you did.

Won't be long now.

Enjoy every precious moment.

All the luck in the world to you and Wes!

Dazzles is two decks high, which is why you may not have noticed the smokers. They are relegated to deck 9, while the band, bar and dance floor are on deck 8. We never went into Blaze, don't know if that's two decks or not.

Any baby news yet, Chrystal?

Haha! Hi Bonnie and Joan! Thank you for checking on me! No, just waiting for his arrival. Fortunately I'm home on leave, and I don't have to go back to work until May. So grateful for that. I'm puttering around the house, nesting. Just got in from some more shopping to stock up our pantry and fridge so we have some good food onhand when we come home with the baby. Wes asks me how I'm doing every hour or so, it's so cute. Just trying to pace myself with prepping and getting as much rest as I can. I'll come back and share the news as soon as I can after he's born :)

After the show, we went to the Royal Promenade to kill some time before dinner in the Main Dining Room. There was the dreaded $10 sale, and the Promenade was pure CHAOS. It was amazing how people were stepping over each other and pushing one another out the way, all for $10 watches and purses. Geez.

We sat a while and did some people-watching. We saw the Rising Tide Bar come down and go back up. Looked like a spaceship from our point of view:

I'm loving your review. I live in Australia and plan to cruise on the Allure in either end of 2014 or end of 2015. We will have a then 7 year old with us. The crowd at this $10 sale looks crazy. I'm not good wit crowds like that. What are the normal price of these watches and purses? Are they brand name items? If they are then I would understand the madness of the crowd otherwise it's just insane.

I just read your entire review and we aren't even sailing on the Allure!! We leave on the Oasis- very similar I am sure- later this month. Good luck with the baby. We had our first in May. He is coming with us on the cruise, naturally. Best of luck! Thanks for the review. Loved the pictures.

The bread and butter pudding was my favorite dessert that I had on the LOTS! Did you like it :) ?! SO YUMMY!

The bread and butter pudding was yummy! I wish it wasn't so soggy towards the middle though, but I'm just picky that way lol. I really wanted to try that creme brulee, but couldn't because of the alcohol in it. I have a feeling I would have eaten that every night! :o :D

I don't remember the original prices, I think the items are in the $15-$20 range? Things like purses, scarves, and costume jewelry and watches. The higher -end items are on sale as well at that time; not for $10 of course

Thank you so much for reading! You're in for a treat on the Oasis, there seem to be only a couple differences between the two ships. Congratulations and enjoy your vacation with your baby boy! We're considering a cruise next year when our son will be a little over a year old. If you have a chance, please come back and tell us about your experience. Have a great cruise! :D

IIRC, all the $10 sale items are from a company called Bijoux Terner. The only actual store I've seen has been at the Orlando airport (MCO). Everything is $10--always!!

But the items are definitely worth $10, so it might be worth your while if you're really interested to get there when they first open. I've gotten some things there and the quality is fine (other than replacing a battery in a watch).

Happy Shopping!!

^Bijoux Terner has a shop also in Playa del Carmen. Same deal there, everything was $10.

And thank you so much, Chrystal, for your review. Can't wait for December and our cruise on Allure. (Like the ship, I was also born in Turku, Finland - and my dad helped to make both of us, he has worked in the shipyard there for 44 years....)

My pleasure! And the fact that your father helped build the Allure is amazing! Enjoy sailing her. He helped build an incredible ship! :)
