I hate to say this because I like to drink....but it is a lot of Money...but because we are D+.....I drink more then 55.00 in the 3.5 hours of Happy Hour in the CL. Just got off the Mariner OTS TA a few weeks ago and I can not tell you how many Chocolate Martini's were consumed. More sea days the better for the price. As long as we can remain D+ and get the benifit of free Booze..Yes, we TIP very heavy at the end of the cruise...We will pass on this deal.

Mike

It would not be worth it for me as a D+. Break even doesn't make it, you would have to go over $55 to make it a deal.

What does Well and Call Brands mean ON THE PREMIUM DRINKS PACKAGE.

We are just back form Celebrity Solstice where we bought the premium drinks package for 17 nights - this included drinks up to the value of $12.00 each. (BTW worse drink service we have ever encountered)

We usually sail with our adult daughter in our room who does not drink so forget it RCL! I cant see how this policy fits into the responsible serving of liquor if they are forcing everyone in the stateroom to purchase - madness....

Also if anyone has an answer to this I would appreciate as we are sailing on Radiance in March from Perth. My husband loves Curzon Citron Rum which he had on legend - They did not have it on Celebrity. Does anyone know if it is available on Radiance?

Many thanks

Jancye

I thought it was only on the ships sailing in europe, ships in caribbean No

This has just been opened up within the last few weeks to us sailings as well. That's why there are so many threads on it here on CC.

Also, recently announced you can bring 2 bottles of wine per cabin.

Just got off the Liberty Of The Seas this past Thursday. Bud Light is served in 16 ounce aluminum bottles and is $5.25, so it would be covered by the package.

Does the $5.25 include the gratutity? Also, how much are mixed drinks and "foo foo" drinks of the day?

Thanks for any additional info for this newbie!!

Just to break even on the $45 pkg, you would have to drink 8 Buds everyday. My husband likes to have a few beers throughout the day (usually about 5-6) but definitely not over 8 and the 2 days that we are going to all inclusive resorts on our excursions it wouldn't be worth it to us.

I, on the other hand, drink frozen drinks and for the $55 pkg, I would have to drink at least 7 drinks everyday. Seven, I wouldn't be able to walk!!!

I think it is great that they are offering drink pkgs but hope they consider adding bottled water and coffee at some point or we won't be purchasing them. I am anxious over the next few months to see if everyone purchasing this thinks it's worth it.

Considering I already pay 40 something for the soda package, I think I can handle 2 beers a day.

I understand that the soda package goes by nights on board---however I do not drink and I will be buying this for my son to enjoy. I normally just buy a drink when I first get on board ----Is anything free like water ---does anyone just drink the ships water?? This is first time on RC and on Princess they gave you ice tea, coffee, and tea for free?? How does RC work?? You actually have to pay for coffee and tea with your dinner??

Probably would have considered it a year or so ago, but now that every ship we sail on has a DL, we can no longer rationalize the cost. Even with what we normally purchased to drink during the day (~$40 between us on the pool deck), and what we normally consumed in the evening (~$40 more in clubs/casino), we would have had to stretch just to break even. Now with the DL, it just isn't worth it.:)

No my wife and I will not. We will get the pop pass each that is for sure, I just cant see ourself spending that kind of money on liquor, sure we might buy 8-10 drinks each but that is no where near what would we normally drink anyways, i dont want to be drunk my whole cruise, I wish we could buy the drink pass for one day and i would drink alot by the pool but other than that its not worth it for us so, :) so nope not for us

Does any.one know the price of bottled beer on the RC ships - particularly Bud Lite preferably in the metal bottles.

Just wondering if these are under $6.25 and qualify for the drinks package.

Thank you

Most beers well under $6.25 (whille this is a few months ago, I wouldn't think beer prices have gone up over $6.25!!)

I guess it would have to be no , yes I would but my wife doesnt drink and NO way I buy it for 2 . I hate the fact they make 2 people buy it, yea yea I know people would abuse it but not everyone drinks but I would enjoy the freedom of one price.

Ditto!!!

After reading all of this I do have a question. It says that both people in the cabin have to get the package. Now would it be possible to get one package of each or do they have to be the same? So I would get the premium package and he would get the beer package as he doesn't drink hard liquor?

Thanks!!

I like the idea of one price for whatever I want - cappuccino in the morning, Labadoozie in the afternoon, sodas on deck, a Scotch in the evening, and maybe wine at dinner. I wouldn't do it every day though, but the kicker is DW does not drink like that so $110 per day for my cabin is steep.

So what if I have 2 cabins, and I'm in one with a minor, and my wife's in the other with the other minor, can I get 1 drink package only? Or do they look for linked reservations?

Still not sure it's worth it for one but I'd certainly have to think about it more if I could by just 1.

But 2 no way.

I think there are other considerations beyond the pure math. Last month we were offered the package on Mariner. We thought about it and decided that even though we would not buy it we would test the economics for future reference. If we wanted a drink, would have it without consideration or contemplation of anything else (as if the alcohol was paid for). My wife and I do enjoy to get our cocktail on - your mileage may vary.

If you drink mostly beer or wine by the glass you can do the math and decide. If you drink mixed drinks I think the other major consideration is that most of the bar drinks on board are poorly made, poorly served. They are (very) weak and in the case of the drink of the day not made to order - they set around awhile. I like by beer very (Twin Peaks) cold and my mixed drinks made and served properly.

This became very evident to us when we went to Coconuts in Cozumel for lunch and a few margarita's. Here for about 5 bucks you get what I would suggest is a reference standard journeyman quality margarita on the rocks. Big difference. What you are served on board is a very different animal.

We got to a point where we had RCI bar fatigue and just did not want to consume. (if you were offered all you can eat McDonald's hamburgers for a week the reality is you would only eat so many - their just not that good). We might have had one day where the economics would have worked out but for the week we would not have come close.

When you consider that day one is a partial day, that you (we) maximize our time off the boat in port, I think it would be really hard to out drink the cost of the package even at RCI drink prices, you would probably feel pressured to drink when you really did not want to.

RCI has all the data on this - they would not offer it if was not guaranteed to work out profitably for them. Heck the more people that buy upfront the more incentive for them to serve lower quality product in an even more deficient way.

Again your mileage may vary but we do not regret not buying the drink package.
