Passenger Choir on Celebrity?

Coming up for my first Celebrity Cruise, hence the query:

'Do the Celebrity ships (Solstice in my case) have a passenger choir, like the Princess Pop Choirs I have sung with on that Line?'

I have seen guest choirs and guest dance groups on a few of my Celebrity cruises but I wouldn't count on it...

It seems to me that when I've seen them, it has been on one of the Millennium Class ships with the group--who rehearsed during the sailing--performing during the crew talent show... Don't recall ever seeing a crew talent show on a Solstice Class ship...

We have had a passenger choir on two Celebrity Transatlantics, one on Solstice and one on Eclipse. I think it depends if there is anyone on the Activity Staff who is interested. The one on Solstice was particularly good fun because we were accompanied by a member of the jazz group. The other one used taped music if I recall.

We had a choir on our Nov. 16th Equinox Med cruise. As was said, I think it depends on the Activity Staff - if there is someone interested and able to coordinate it. My dad, who enjoys singing in a choir at home, participated in it.

They met for "rehearsal" on the first sea day, then again 1 other evening and on the other sea day. Each rehearsal was no more than 1 hour long, then they sang in the lobby on the last night. There were approx 50 people in the choir, and the lobby was filled with people watching their "performance" - more than any other live performer during the cruise!

It was fun for him to participate in, and was really neat to see.

Great idea! I hope our activity staff is up to this on our TA in the spring! That might keep me out of the casino ;)

Our last winter cruise on the Millenium which went to Chile/Uruguay/Argentina, had a "Dance Club", which were passengers who did a few theatrical dance numbers after rehearsing a few times. It was obvious that they had a lot of fun, so I'm hoping to run into something like that on a future cruise.

Hi, nope they do not have a passenger choir.

On our transatlantic on the Equinox the acapella group held choir rehearsal every day. The choir sang in the guest talent show.

What she said. This was a group of passengers. At least the one I was on Nov 26th.

Thanks for all the replies my friends. It would appear on the longer cruises the CD may get a choir going. We are only on for 13 days this time, Sydney to Auckland. But I might mention it to the CD on Day 1.

For those interested last March/April I was on P&O' UK - Arcadia, 49 days, Sydney to Southampton via Asia/Africa, we had a LOT of sea days including one run of 8 sea days from Malaysia to Mauritius. Suffice to say there was a big pax choir, around 60, Brits and Aussies with the odd Kiwi. We must have had 30 sea day practices and did 4 performances, including the Titanic 100th Anniversary Service on board, Abide With Me etc. Packed the theatre out that day.

I really think Passenger Choirs are a great concept, good entertainment for all.

Thanks again for your responses to my query.
