Fire on Carnival Triumph. No engines, running on emergency generators.

I think once they got in the rooms, getting them out would be difficult. It's a tough call, I can see both sides but probably would have edged towards just getting them to a room they could stay in once cleaned up.

They aren't going to let them stay in NOLA either, they are going to be hustling them out and washing their hands of them ASAP.

COZY:eek: Are you kidding!

For making the best in an awful situation, they absolutely looked cozy. They had 4 of them under that duvet, and they smiled when they waved.

They know they are getting closer to land, so spirits are probably looking up.

Wouldn't want to change places with them though.

If you can't watch CNN (like sneaking a peek at work :) ) this link is streaming live all day.

Watching this, but the lady talking is very annoying and doesn't seem very professional. She's swearing even. I don't think she knows she's broadcasting with an open mic. If she does, wow. Sad.

One network just had a heliocopter in the air showing Mobile Bay and saying "The ship is not in sight, but this is the bay they will use to get to port."

Nothing like having a reporter on a heliocpter watching the bay hours before the ship will even get there.

CNN presently has a helicopter circling the ship at close range. Shots of people on deck waving, some of those in cabins at the rear have hung out sheets with writing on them (no closes up yet of what the writing says). Here is the live stream:

Local TV also confirmed that Customs and Immigration are onboard the ship to process the passenegrs.

Also, that once the ship is near the dock, it may take up to an hour to actually get the ship secured to the dock. Said that some equipment at the port is not working after not being used for over a year.

This happens a lot on internet live streams. They are collecting footage for their real broadcast.

It is a courtesy to viewers that they stream the footage, but she isn't 'on' in reporting mode.

Most likely it is the helicopter microphone so she can talk to the other passenger- her cameraman.

Larry on the phone isn't helping much. He said we need help. That's what they are trying to do. He said tugs are roaming aimlessly, but we or none of us know the formality of it. The currents are pulling the ship too far east now so they are trying to get it back on course.

It sounds like tension is high. It's like the saying "So near, but so far"

They'll edit out the cursing for terrestrial broadcast, there are no FCC censors for the Internet.

Thanks for the website. We usually don't have our TV on during the day and we usually don't watch CNN but we have it on now.

Can't wait to hear the stories from the passengers when they finally come ashare.

I've been following this thread for a couple of days.

The vessel is now starting to show up on Vessel Finder. It appears it's been pushed to the east somewhat, probably by the front. That would explain why the one tug is pushing on the starboard side so hard, as seen on the CNN live feed.

PR nightmare... Now the daughter is being interviewed "It was bad, then worse, then horrible..."

Edit: "On some parts of the ship it smells (she pauses brief and then with emphasis)... horrible"

I could barely make out one of the bed sheets too "HELP Get us to..." somewhere, maybe "shore"

Are any of the cheerleaders willing to step up and say that Larry, the man giving the live interview on CNN from the ship, is a liar when he says there is sewage in the halls and dripping down the walls from cabins above?

Can you provide a link to any post in which a first hand account was said to be untrue?

That makes no sense at all.

Carnival has booked hundreds of rooms in Mobile for staff and crew. They flew in 200 staff to assist with disembarkation yesterday. Obviously, the crew cannot stay onboard as the ship is uninhabitable until they get it into drydock and clean it up. Carnival will be in Mobile for the long haul. Airport logistics dictated that they fly out of a larger airport than the facilities in Mobile. They will have about 20 chartered jets to transport passengers to Houston. They will be using about 100 motor coaches to transport passengers to NOLA, Houston and Galveston. Passengers will have the option to choose where they want to go. Customs will board the ship at the same time as the harbor pilots and will clear the passengers before they disembark at the terminal, so that is one delay eliminated. I've heard that the CDC is also on hand, so no telling if the passengers will also have to go through a decontamination procedure as well. What a cluster, huh?

I think they said flights will start Friday afternoon. So assuming the hit the hotel at 2 AM they can at least get a few hours of shuteye.

I wonder if Carnival has any practical way to provide clean clothing. Most people are probably way out of supplies.
