hurwitz5 Posted May 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2013 We will be sailing in the Infinity, leaving Harwich on September 18, 2013. We arrive at Heathrow Airport on September 15 and will stay at a downtown hotel for a few days. We are travelling with another couple. Is there a good bus service that we can take from downtown London to the Harwich port on the morning of September 18? We would also consider a van that can fit four passengers plus a lot of luggage. We do not wish to take a train, as we had a bad experience on a prior cruise (involving a transit strike and carrying heavy bags up and down steps at various stations.) Thanks for your recommendations.

You could think again. Strikes do not happen every day. Harwich is one of the most train friendly ports around. Direct service from Liverpool Street and the train stops literally in front of the ship. It would save you good money against a limosine service. It would save you good money against a limosine service. we are also on the same cruise as you - and had looked into transport options before we decided to go with the celebtriy flight options - 3 ideas for you: 1) Call Celebrity - they had offered me a bus transfer from central london (can't remember where but it was one of the train / bus stations) 2) Harwich council operate a specific train on cruise days www.harwich.co.uk/cruise_trains.asp 3) We also found a great bus transfer that picks up from lots of places in central london as well as the airports http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/harwich_fromlondon_shuttle.html Alternatively there are lots of private companies Hope this helps and look forward to meeting you on board Lyn
speedwell Posted May 7, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2013 Hurwitz5 If you check the Roll Call for the Infinity 24th May, you will see that various arrangements have been made to get from London and/or Heathrow to Harwich. One of these may be suitable for you. Alan

KYKAT23 Posted May 22, 2013 #10 Share Posted May 22, 2013 I used Adelphi Executive Hire on May 13 when we landed in Harwich from a Transatlantic cruise on Celebrity. Darren was there waiting for us when we got of the boat. There were 4 of us with a lot of luggage and his van was big enough to accommodate it and us comfortable. The van was very clean. We were so happy with our transportation to London that we hired them again to do our transport to Heathrow. This time it was Andrew. He got us situated and to Heathrow in plenty of time for our flight. I give them 5 stars!
Rare ghstudio Posted May 22, 2013 #11 Share Posted May 22, 2013 The least expensive choice might be to rent a car and drive yourself....use europocar or national which have a drop off point at the pier. Of course, I lived in the UK for a few years, so I'm used to driving on the right or is it wrong side of the road and going around roundabouts the correct way....but it's a thought that might be worth exploring. edgee Posted May 24, 2013 #16 Share Posted May 24, 2013 Try http://www.woodfordchauffeurcars.co.uk. We had excellent service from them for a Southampton- London transport. They are very good at promptly communicating/confirming by email or phone, so we felt very comfortable about arrangements and pricing confirmed in advance. kevinyork Posted May 24, 2013 #17 Share Posted May 24, 2013 If it was me I would take the train. The cost is currently £30pp however 3 months before travel cheaper fares can sometime be found. We use thetrainline.com to check fares and buy in advance. The 'cruise train' leaves Liverpool Street Station at 12.28 and is direct to the port arriving at 13.40. If you wanted to get there any earlier there is a train on the hour form Liverpool Street Station to Maningtree then a connection to Harwich. Total journey time 1hr 17mins. Both options deposit you right by the port: Click here for Satellite view. The station could not be nearer.

jnkbreeden Posted October 3, 2013 #20 Share Posted October 3, 2013 We used Adelphi Executive hire from London to Harwich and then from Harwich to Heathrow last month. Excellent service--email contact with Darrin was fast and easy, both drivers were friendly and spot on time wise for pickup, cars comfortably sat 4 and held all of our cruise luggage. Five stars and will use them again next time. info@adelphiexecutivehire.co.uk
OntarioCasey Posted April 6, 2014 #21 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Has anyone used this transfer company in the last 5 months...are they still reliable, reputable? We are scoping the web to find a company for our transfer from Harwich to Heathrow post cruise. Has anyone use Great Britain Cars recently? I found their rates to be reasonable....any feedback? h2odad Posted July 15, 2014 #24 Share Posted July 15, 2014 Beware ! - Adelphi Executive Hire- Darren Parsons, proprietor If you are considering using this firm, be aware of the difficulties you may encounter, and then be kind to yourself and look elsewhere. We hired him and then found he outsources his work to third parties, without fully informing them of the clients’ needs. When he arranged for a pick up at the airport, the driver arrived with too small a car for four people and luggage. A cab was called, Darren saying he’d reimburse the cost, but never did. On the return trip after a cruise, he again sent too small a vehicle and we had to hold luggage on our lap for two hours back to the airport
