Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 – CocoCay, Bahamas

Day 3 (already??!)

Song of the Day: Tiney Winey-Byron Lee and the Dragonairs (One of my all-time favorite songs. If this one doesn't make you happy, I don't know what will!

Drink of the Day: Blue Island - Bacardi Silver Rum, Blue Curacao and Pineapple Juice served on the rocks with a splash of Sprite

Day 3 already, yes. The 4 nighter is way too short. The 10 nighter is too short, as well! Ha.

This morning I had breakfast with my family in the Windjammer (very good),I took my morning walk/jog around Deck 7 then showered and got ready for CocoCay. We were supposed to get escorted to the tender b/c the Suite and/or D+, but we don’t really go for that stuff and just walked down to Deck 1 ourselves and walked right onto a tender. We were one of the first on the island. We walked to the far side of the island to try to find a nice beach, but the one we settled at to begin with was much too rocky. The aqua park was pretty far down to our right. We were close to the Wacky Seagull Bar:

We soon moved, not too far away, near the Kayak area where we used the small beach that was there. I thought it was a pretty good spot until later on when 50 million small fish decided to invade “OUR” area (ha, ha). I rented a floating mat which is $12 for the entire day and floated around in Heaven for quite some time. It was a beautiful, hot day in the 80’s with intense sun and we enjoyed the island until around 1:00 when we headed back to the MJ, overheated and tired. One Love was playing as we headed back, but it was too hot to stay and listen. I did not eat the barbecue lunch, but my mom and dad did and enjoyed it very much. They had burgers, hot dogs, ribs, chicken, and different types of salads to go along with it. Always an enjoyable day on CocoCay and Labadee.

They also had the Make A Wish walk on the island today which I participated in with my dad. I have a few of the t-shirts already, but you can always use another t-shirt, right? Even if you have 50 of them??! I bought another. I really like the Make A Wish Foundation and contribute to them whenever I can, so even better that we were able to help out while on a cruise.

I almost forgot—today they also held a C&A Event right near the beach we were hanging at…at The Wacky Seagull Bar. They had a really nice setup on a deck over-looking the ocean and a tent covering it for shade.

Hope you enjoy the pictures of CocoCay, I took quite a few:

After getting back to the ship, I ran up two decks (Having Sorrento's so close is great, but not great, if you know what I mean) to grab a couple slices of pizza. I tried to walk some of it off around the promenade deck, showered and laid down for just a little while. These were waiting for us in the cabin: (Must I do MORE walking to walk these off, too?! This is getting exhausting....ha!)

When I woke up, it was time for my full-body massage and facial in the Spa. It was unbelievable. I had just sprained my ankle pretty badly a few weeks before my trip at softball practice, so the massage felt great and did me some good. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon. After the massage, we went into Johnny Rockets for dinner and enjoyed our time there immensely. It's a nice, fun, relaxing meal that we always look forward to. For those who are not familiar, there is a $4.95 Per Person charge to eat at JR. After eating, we went up to the top decl (13, I think) to watch the sunset:

I was disappointed to see that they had removed the Brownie Sundae from the menu. :(

To finish off the evening, we mostly took it easy. I walked around a bit and read on the promenade deck, spent more time on our balcony, and then went to the Schooner Bar to listen to Katia at Paul's (Aquahound) suggestion. She was very, very good and the bar was packed. It was another very nice evening aboard the Majesty of the Seas. Majesty has some very good live entertainment on board right now. Very good.

Tomorrow is Key West, which is both my favorite and least favorite day of the cruise. Key West is one of my favorite places, but it means the cruise is ending as it is the last stop. At this point in the cruise I am already talking about where we will go for the next one. I think I may have a problem...........

I am going to call it quits for tonight and will do Key West tomorrow evening. Thanks again for reading and for commenting, and I hope everyone has a nice evening.

Makes me feel like I'm on Majesty again. But we had an oceanview with obstruction. No suite! LOL

I hear you. We were just lucky. My experience was always an Oceanview as well on Majesty. I love a balcony and try not to cruise without one, but I always say-I'll take any cabin to get on that ship :)

I share the problem. We were on the Enchantment the same time you were on Majesty and my first stop after the WJ when we boarded was the Nextcruise office before it was crowded. And I couldn't book just one :p.

First of all your review is great :) I am really enjoying it!! The smallest ship we have been on is the Serenade and we loved that cruise. Do you know if they do this tier event at Labadee too?

Thanks,

Donna

Hi Donna, thanks for the feedback. I am not 100% on Labadee but I want to say no, they don't have it there. I was there in 2012 on Navigator and I do not recall this event at all, but I could be wrong.

That's hilarious. You took care of it the very first day!! I like your thinking, I may have to do that next time.

"I couldn't book just one." lol.....we are all crazy.

It makes the last day sooo much easier. Instead of dreading the end of the cruise you look forward to the next one :).

Great review, by the way. I did a long picture review for Navigator in December and I know it takes a lot of time and effort!

I like the space that you had for a bedroom. It looks very comfortable for sleeping and also provides some privacy.

I loved it. I was expecting something bigger for some reason, but for one person, it was really great. It was so nice to have the privacy and especially my own bathroom. I have a younger sister who is not crazy about cruising like we are (WEIRD--haha!) and I told her that she and I could have shared the room just fine. There was also a 3rd pullman bed in there.

I could control the A/C in my room which I was thrilled with as well. One weird thing back there was that there was not one single outlet. ANYWHERE. Not in the bathroom, behind the beds-anywhere. I even called Dyre in the one day and asked him to help me look. He tried and couldn't find any, either. Maybe they figured there'd be kids back there and they wouldn't need any?

That room spoiled me!!

I need to take your lead.

Thanks-it is definitely time-consuming! I've never done such a detailed one but wanted to in case this was my last Majesty sailing (I hope not, but you never know in life). Plus, you don't see many anymore for the older ships.

I read your Navigator review, I loved it. She's my 2nd favorite ship.

I don't recall any special C&A events on Labadee but I could have missed something.
