You have no idea how much I appreciate your posts. Now sitting here knowing that in 3 months I will be one of those passengers "streaming onboard" and it will be my luggage on one of the fork lifts. For 30 days! :D

Thanks Shogun.

Hi all

Just ran into our room steward from the Crown it was like two long lost brothers meeting he was so excited to see we were on board , l told him they only pick the best for the new ship so you must be one of the best he went a bit red and thanked us he is on deck 14 so folks if you get Andrea you are getting one of the best

A barman said many on short contracts as they will be going to Regal

Is it safe to assume that Dueling Glass Pianos was eliminated by Princess somewhere along the way?

I'd say so considering that there is a single piano not glass that has Godard painting on it.

Would someone on board please check to see if there is a "secret door" on the Marina deck? We love to go out there for sailaway. Thank you so much in advance.

We are looking forward to our November 10 cruise on her. We sailed the Med on the old Royal and just had to book on the new one. These reports are building our excitement; I am getting antsy.

Have a wonderful time.

Hi There l like the beds they have a foam topping they are firm but not hard

Pillows are good sized but to soft for me like wearing ear muffs as it wraps around your head but still OK or has it been the drink to much food and crawling to bed at 3.00 am that means l am sleeping OK

Muster starting then in will be the Love Boat on the horns

Nothing inside the ship to say maiden sailing no balloons streamers etc which l think is a shame

Would have loved a big party in the atrium

Hi Shogun!

Thanks for the great updates. I don't want to beat a dead horse but does anyone know about those forward corner minis on the Marina/Lido deck? Are they bigger, etc.? Sounds as if you're having a blast!

Hi All

Well if I was in charge I would do a maiden sail away as follows,

Cruise cards to have the words maiden sailing, or at least inaugural season on them,

Atrium fully decorated, balloon drop, streamers etc, party band, not string music

Out on deck decorated, passengers to have flags with some saying Royal Princess, others the Princess logo etc, then a selection of ships and word flags,

With other cruise ships sailing just ahead of us P&0 and Cunard a salute from them,

A couple of fire tenders to spray water, a ships canon to send us off with a bang,

May be those big inflatable waving things on the dock side.

A card or photo in each cabin of the ship saying maiden voyage

A plane towing a banner, or may a stunt plane with smoke etc

The naming ceremony on MUTS

May be a speech from the Captain or Princess executive before we sail,

Now I am sure Princess may well do something later may be on formal night,

But a standard sail away for the new flag ship of the fleet the Royal deserves better

What I would not do, is play the Love Boat Tune on the horns over the top of the party sail away band so you could not hear either, Princess can and should do better.

This my view others might have a different view.

Shogun or anyone else: Thank you for the updates. We love them. If you can a few questions?

Do the Royal Balconies have sliding doors like others in the Princess Fleet?

Do regular & deluxe balcony cabins have a full length wardrobe closet, or are they short like the Grand?

What does the safe look like, is it in a shelved closet like other ships?

How does the light/key system work. Are outlets keyed to the key card as well as lights? Reason for question we charge stuff during the day when we are not in the cabin.

Thank you

Hi Shogun

We were on the pier in Southampton to see you depart. We heard both the Captain's speech welcoming everyone aboard, the band on deck and then the horns - twice. As you say, I was surprised a tug spraying water didn't escort you out but I've never seen a maiden sailing before so didn't really know what to expect.

Enjoy your cruise - it was nice to meet both you and Donna. Thank you for setting up the Roll Call thread for the 14 June 2 nighter.

Hope you are having a fantastic cruise. If possible could you post your thoughts on the promenade deck. I know there is limited access but curious to know if there are many chairs to sit and just relax. Thanks!

Hi Shogun and Donna, we were sad leaving this morning, my night of no sleep has caught up on me so off to bed shortly, no Bellinis here!

This morning we managed to get a look at M107, the mini over the bridge wings, get the details from Dave, so you can share here. I will try and post a photo of the balcony tomorrow. Dave also asked an engineer about the lift announcements, they are going to add the deck name to the deck number :) I know you will all continue to have a great cruise, very envious can't wait to sail with you all again soon.

Nicky and Gerald, it was lovely to meet you, glad you got to watch the Sailaway, but what a shame there was nothing special for those on board.

I asked at the Passenger Services Desk, and there were apparently 2600 pax on board for the 2 night cruise. The ship felt half empty so f that is the case, I am impressed.

The Pianist at Crooners certainly divided opinion, I heard a lot more against than for, but that could be because those that enjoyed him were in Crooners. Having the Piano located near the railing meant you couldn't escape, if you wanted to stay in the Piazza.

They look out over the Piazza, same as on all the other Princess ships. There are only two panoramic lifts; the other four lifts (the square ones on the deck plan) are regular cars -- those may be the ones you're talking about.

But once they are above the Piazza, what do you see? Are they only panaramic for those 3 decks?

I usually travel on Royal Caribbean, and their elevator banks are facing open atriums, so you see views all the way up and down.
