You're The Ship Designer - What Do You Do?

choose an end to place casinos not right in the middle forcing people to travel through them. Gamblers will always find the casino :)

Parasailing off the back of the ships

While I wouldn't lose sleep if Bingo was eliminated, make sure the games finish well before other entertainment or better still have their own room where one could play bingo 24/7 or at least casino hours

They have that now on the Pearl! Big signs announcing the non-smoking casino annex. We were pumped. We asked several staff where it was, nobody knew. Finally a passenger overheard and told us it was in the Bliss lounge. We found it! About six very old slot/poker machines. That was it.

I guess it's a start, huh?

They should just offer a couple of cruises per year that are adults only - must be 21+, no exceptions. Even if they only offered 2 or 3 of these a year it would just be nice to have the guarantee that kids won't ruin your vacation! :)

I would love to see a more upscale outdoor dining venue: twinkly lights, lots of flickering candles (the LED ones, obviously), great food. Breakaway is definitely on track with this concept but I'd like to see it kicked up a few levels.

I also agree about two casinos.

Nothing wrong with wanting a peaceful adults only cruise.

But Really? You had a 'vacation ruined' because of kids?

I mean I've sat next to a few annoying one's for an occasional meal but I cant really say that kids, be it my own or any one else's, has ever ruined my entire vacation.

You get out of it what a vacation the attitude you put into it.

I've never had a bad vacation in my life and certainly never had kids ruin it! I'm very easy going and hardly anything bothers me. :) It was just a matter of expression because I ways read from others (not me) on these boards that kids ruin their vacation - I was saying it for others, not me.

Well then!

I think the SPLASH ACADEMY loves to take in volunteers for several hours a day for multiple days.

I think you would be the perfect candidate! :D

Retractable roof bythe Haven (finally on the new ships but not Epic)

Better cabanas to compete with other lines, more cabanas

A table that extends and lifts for dining height in every room, (from coffee table)

Closets next to the bathroom like on Princess, so you do not hear the hangers on bad seas, also a curtain for a semi private place to change

Non smoking (completely) area of casino

Good vent for smoking casino area, so it does not seep out elsehwere.

Adult only hot tubs in Haven (enforced)

Adult only hot tubs elsewhere (enforced)

Adult only pool deck/sun deck with cabanas, quiet, hot tubs and a bar. heck, CCL has it, NCL can do better.

Adult only upscale supper club, with slow dancing, premium food

A glass walled area (maybe a restaurant) below the water line where you could view into the sea.

Much bigger pools with waterfalls and pool bars.

A darkened area for night time star gazing.

I love that idea!

I also loved the Waterfront area on the Breakaway and would like to see it expanded -- more "take out" places like Ocean Blu on the Waterfront (and with extended hours), slightly wider walkways, and some comfortable chairs and/or loungers in the empty spots.

I liked the Great Outdoors area on the Sun and the Jewel; I wish they hadn't done away with it on the newer ships.

On the rare occasions we splurge on a suite I like the forward facing ones so I'm sad to see them disappear on the new ships.

Someone requested solo balcony cabins....RCI's new Quantum will have them.

I would like to see a return to the traditional Spinnaker observation lounge, and a bridge viewing room like the one on the Spirit.

I would also like the casino to be in a lower forward position in the ship, so that no one would have to go thru the smoke unless they wanted to gamble there.

I would like to see the atrium bar expanded a bit sort of like Princess's International Cafe with comp snacks and also have comp beverages. Sort of like a mini buffet.

I would like a return to a full outside promenade deck.

I would like a 'magradome' cover for the main pool on ships designated to sail on 'cold weather' cruises.

I would like to see some better enrichment programs and lecturer's, sort of like Cunard has.

I would like to see newbuilds return to having three (fore, midship, and aft) stairwell/elevator banks.

That's all I can think of now, but I'm sure there's more.....:)

More pools, 1/2 of which are adult only. At least one of these pools has a swim up bar. Since the Haven is being marketed more for families, perhaps a similar area that is made for couples, singles, etc. Cheaper bar bills:)

I would have two sister ships. Identical design but a few different aesthetic changes. I would name them both "Dawn" and "Dusk". Both would resemble classic ocean liners (e.g RMS Queen Elizabeth). Both would be about 900ft long.

The Dawn would have brighter, lighter colors. More blues, whites, purples (sort of NCL almost). Overall a bit more peppy/flashy

The Dusk would have warmer, more dark colors. Reds, oranges, browns, beige, etc. Much more intimate with a "cozy" feel.

* I would design the ship in such away to prevent long lines and overcrowded areas.

* No Casino. Even if there was smoking would be banned in it

* Both ships would have two long tall funnels (bottom part is dark red, the cap is black).

* The ships would have two, 2 story dining rooms each with a giant glass dome and chandelier hanging from the middle of it.

* The atrium would have live waltz music playing all the time and have lots of windows and glass. One towards the front would be the "main" atrium and more aft would be a very similar but a bit smaller and more intimate.

* Most ships only need one funnel nowadays so I would probably put a coffee/hot drink bar there with a fireplace and

* One large indoor pool, equally sized outdoor pool, and a smaller kiddie pool (to help keep away some of the younger kids from the other pools). Each pool will have a medium sized poolbar (the kids pool will have a kids snackbar)

* Large Pool Hall with a bar

* Movie Theater, Life Performance Theater, and Music Theater

* A free glass of champagne when departing.

* Each pool has four large hot-tubs. What is worse then an overcrowded hot-tub?

Here is a picture of the SS Rex of the Italian Line. It would resemble it

Gosh I have so many more ideas. I'll post more later.

You mean newer than the Breakaway, right? Both the Epic and the Breakaway have forward facing suites so right now the newest ships have them.

I would like to see a certain amount of the lower category balconies be made available to solo travelers without the single supplement or studio type rooms with an ocean view.

Hey, one can dream....right? :D

Yes, all ships should have a few cabins available to solos without the single suppliment charge. It is not fair to over charge a person who has no one to share a cabin. This policy should be industry-wide
