"A selection of wines by the glass...."?

If wine is 9-21 a glass with l8% gratuity would one not be better off to get the package with the gratutity included. I see myself consuming 1-2 glasses of wine at lunch and the same at dinner. Is service poor with the package and are refills hard to get? I don't need very high end wine to make me happy!!! Of course on busy port days I would probably have lunch ashore but still there will be days we come back to the ship for lunch. What is the best value based on the above consumption. I think the cheaper package would hold better value provided the wine is still drinkable.! Thanks

I meant to say 9-12 dollars a glass for medium range wines not 21 $. Also do both people in a cabin have to purchase the wine package like on mass market cruise lines? Thanks

If you are drinking 4 glasses a day at meal times then the package should work for you

no you both do not need to buy the package but no sharing allowed ;)

Once you sign up it is for everyday of the cruise

When we were on the Riviera in May/June, we did have to sign for each glass of wine. Glasses were only refilled in the specialty restaurants. We also found that when you like a particular style of wine (in our case Merlot of Cabernet), the list seems very small. The list for the Prestige Package is generally on the last page of the wine menu. Once you understand the package (takes a day or so), it becomes easy to order either a cocktail or glass of wine.

We have had the Prestige Package a couple of times and the only time you sign a check is at the end of your meal (same as if you purchased a bottle of wine) or when you are leaving the bar. You may keep a tab as such open until you leave. Wine glasses are refilled in all of the restaurants, not just the speciality restaurants. If you are having trouble getting additional glasses of wine at your meals, you only need to speak to the head sommelier or one of the restaurant managers.

Thank you for explaining how it is suppose to work. Wish I knew that prior to sailing. In 12 days of dining in Terrace Café for lunch and always having two glasses of wine (2 glasses of beer for my DH), we were always asked for our card after each glass and never asked if we wanted a refill.

The bar we went to before (by the casino) dinner varied. Sometimes they asked for the card after a drink and sometimes waited until we were about to leave.

We always had refills in the specialty restaurants. In fact, I wondered how they can keep track of the inventory when they are doing 1/2 or 1/4 glass pours (at the guests request).

Really think your explanation will help passengers understand the Prestige Package.:)

My husband reminded me that you never have to sign a check with the package, you just have to present your card at the end of a drinking spree.

With the premium package can you order wine by the bottle? What are the limits as the price range difference is rather large.

Here is the description of what's included in the Prestige Select package:

"PRESTIGE SELECT - $54.95

Per Guest Per Day (Gratuity Included)

Wine, Beer & Spirits

This UNLIMITED package includes beer, a selection of wines by the glass, most top shelf spirits and cocktails, all of which may be ordered at any onboard venue as well as through room service.*"

I have finally received a response from Oceania today re my inquiry concerning confusion in champagne served in the prestige package on our 7/29 British Isles cruise aboard Marina. Some of you have indicated Perrier Jouet is served and there must have been an errant employee giving incorrect information. Perrier Jouet is NOT presently served in wine packages as per Novelette Fellows/ Administrator, guest relations. For those of you looking for a reasonably good chardonnay or champagne in the packages, you are out of luck in my opinion!

So how to explain post #25 where Oceania President Kamlami states that every wine offered by the glass is included in the Prestige Package? It would be interesting to have Fellows' reaction to that.

Not much has been said about chardonnay in this thread so far. Is there a single chardonnay available by the glass, or several? I'm not fussy, but I do prefer chardonnay in a white.

On our last cruise, the whites on offer were a single Chardonnay (Waterbrook, Columbia Valley), as well as a Sauvignon Blanc (Walker Bay, South Africa), an Argillae Orvietto, and a Pouilly Fuisee' (Bouchard Pere et Fils).

This list does not include the "house wine" which is always available as a white, most often as a Chardonnay.

If Ms Fellows is correct then it's a dealbreaker for me....I'll be bringing my own fizz if it is the case....but then shoreside staff aren't exactly known for giving out the most accurate info.

Could Mr Kamlani or Mr Del Rio clear this one up for us?

Is Perrier Jouet still included in the Prestige package??

Thanks in advance :)

With Mr. Kamlani having posted here once before on this question, it may take an old-fashioned hard copy letter to him to clear this up once and for all. A letter from him would probably be a handy thing to have in one's pocket on the ship......

A Pouilly Fuisee is 100% Chardonnay, from France.
