Is this "big announcement" the news that got released yesterday where Carnival is the first cruise line to install "scrubbers" in the smoke stacks to eliminate some of the carbon going into the air? Cost of about $100 million they said. Not a big deal to some, but I say good job and way to finally step up and help protect the environment more!!

Carnival would not be the first cruise line to install "scrubbers" on their ships. Royal Caribbean already has ships with "scrubbers" installed. So I doubt that was the big announcement.

Maybe Carnival Triumph and Carnival Victory will both get major refits exactly like the Destiny got and they will be called "Carnival Sunrise" and "Carnival Splash"

Yes. I've seen photos. It's a shame that Carnival waited until they kicked it to the curb to do that.
