Specialty Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Sailing on the Liberty next month with kids 14 months to 15 years.

Is there a cost for a baby dining in the restaurant?

Thank you

From the RCI website.........

"Children with a parent or guardian are welcome in our specialty restaurants throughout serving hours. The only exceptions are Chef's Table which requires all guests to be 21 years of age or older, and 150 Central Park which requires families with children under 13 years of age to dine before 7 p.m. Reservations can be made online or onboard at the restaurant based on availability". s.gif

Yes....each person is charged. If you bring someone under 13 years old, you will need to book the earliest available time...right when the restaurant opens. They discourage young children in the specialty restaurant.

The times for children dining with parents in Specialty Restaurants has changed. See my response above.:)

And.....they certainly don't discourage young children from accompaning their parents.

Once again, CB, another incorrect and misinformed post.

TeeChi - per the RCI website FAQ's regarding children and the specialty restaurants, here is the correct information regarding the highlighted portion of CB's post:

They are really flexible to accommodate children too in my experience but I have never seen the kids menu offered. Not found that a problem though. Chops for example will do little offcut of fillet steak cut in small strips perfect for finger eaters or there is a jacket potato. Likewise they don't keep booster seats and have to send to mdr so maybe detail what you need when you book.

And we have only ever been charged once on our most recent visit but it's the first time my son has ordered appetiser and entree (and dessert) of his own but have always expected to pay and always tipped according to service AND level of mess left behind! But if you dine with kids you will be used to than... ;0)

From our Liberty cruise in May I would say both statements are correct here.

We looked to book Portofino for my birthday and we mentioned a table of three to include our three year old son.

Would they have accommodated our son, yes they would of done. Was this actively encouraged with any real enthusiasm by the chap doing the reservation I would suggest not.

When we popped our head round the door the following night we made the decision that it perhaps wasn't the place for a three year old but this was our choice so we cancelled our booking for later in the week.

Ooh look out CB you have an angry parent after you! :sly::rolleyes:

Hardly. Perhaps you aren't aware of the member's propensity for posting misinformation for years and years here. Never apologizes when corrected or called out, never acknowledges mistakes. That's all. Others here mentioned it too - sorry you missed that.

Very accurately stated.

But how can that ever happen? In my experience, CB never returns to the same thread twice to see - or care - about the comments. Apparently not overly concerned about the information they post - but certainly keeps the post count going.....

We took our daughter to Portofino on the Voyager and all the staff made her feel very welcomed as they did for all the children dining with there parents. The waitstaff went out of there way to make sure all the children had a meal to enjoy just like they did for the Adults. They even made special deserts of mixed berries and ice cream for the children too. That looked really yummy too.

It is a bit sad if they don't offer the same great service in Portofino on the Liberty as they offered on the Voyager.

FYI--Chef's Table was open to ages 13 and up (wit sparkling wine and juices paired with the meal for those under 18) on our May cruise on Legend on our Serenade cruise that we finished this past Sunday. This is not consistent with the online policy but was in writing and actively encouraged many times onboard.
