4luv2cruise Posted November 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2013 First time trying RCL. how does ATD work and do you prefer it to same time dining. which is easier to get table for two.
Langley Cruisers Posted November 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2013 It is called My Time Dining on Royal and in my experience, it is very easy to get a table for two in MTD. However, you certainly can choose Traditional Dining (set time) and e-mail a request for a 2-top, and it shouldn't be a problem.

PattyG12 Posted November 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2013 We've been very lucky to have a table for 2 during MTD. Recently I noticed more and more small tables in the MTD area. We love going to eat when we are hungry and not when they tell us to eat.
elle522 Posted November 8, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2013 I have only done any time dining on Carnival, and it was a disaster. But then again everything on Carnival is a disaster!
Rare mskaufman Posted November 8, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2013 We did MTD on Liberty last year. Worked great. Always got a table for two. Once we found a server we liked we had no problem requesting to sit in her section (no matter what time we showed up).
JimAOk1945 Posted November 8, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 8, 2013 We always have My Time Dining. We've never had any trouble getting a table for two. We find it much more convenient and flexible. Happy sailing!
cb at sea Posted November 8, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 8, 2013 If you do MTD, you don't have to request anything in advance....you will be seated only with those you show up with....just like in a regular restaurant. If you're just 2, then that's how they'll seat you, unless you request differently.
Rare Familygoboston Posted November 8, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) You can 1- make a reservation on line ahead of time for the same time every night or different times each night Or 2-make a,reservation each day by calling, using your interactive TV or visiting the MTD podium when the host is there. Or 3- you can show up when you are hungry and wait for a short time (far less than a land restaurant IME) and be seated. Or 4- any combination of these choices (for example- book ahead formal night, book in the morning the next day and turn up whenever you want on the 3 rd day) Also, you can choose to be A) seated with others Or B) seated by yourselves Again in any combo, (example- alone on your anniversary, and with others on formal night) and if you meet new friends who also have MTD, you can turn up with them and ask to be seated together. In our experience, we have had the same wait staff in the same section at least 5 out of 7 nights, some cruises all 7 were the same wait staff, although the actual table may have been different. OCruisers Posted November 8, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 8, 2013 My Time is a great option on RCCL. Seems there are lots of tables for two because we were given one even when we said we would share. The Specialty Restaurants on RCCL are very good so we seldom had dinner in the MDR. dacsmom Posted November 8, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) I have done both and I really have no preference. With MTD we had the same waitstaff each night and there was no wait at all. I did usually reserve a time in the morning, but not always. When I cruise solo, I tend to do the set dining time. I think this a great excuse to book another cruise and compare the two options :) Edited November 8, 2013 by dacsmom
